AMERICAblog: Obama blasts McCain, a lot

  • Rab · 1 year ago
McCain has no wiggle room on this and Obama can just keep hammering him until he blows up.

A crystal ball forecast: On Thursday, 25 September, Senator McCain's shoulders, which were broken in the Hanoi Hilton, have flared up with so much pain, that the first debate will have to be postponed. Future date to be determined.

There are a lot of people on Main Street that hope a majority in Congress have the testicular fortitude and desire to lead on a solid issue to spearhead a successful opposition to the $700 billion bailout of the banks and investment banks.

The opportunity to lead the opposition to this ridiculous and unwarranted bailout and make the economy the main issue for the remainder campaign stares Obama square in the face. Will he take the lead or wil he wilt before and serve as a "yes" man for the same idiots that drove us into the ditch?

Also, one point that was lost in last week's chaos was the fact that the fed made an unlimited in amount guarantee to mutual fund money market accounts. Let me get this right, if you have $150,000 in an FDIC insured bank account the feds insure only $100,000, but if you have $150,000,000 in a mutual fund money market account the fed insures/guarantees $150,000,0000.

A while back there was a clip of Mccain saying something really negative about Social Security. Where is that clip?
  • cmpnwtr · 1 year ago
Then there's this clip where McCain says SS is a "disgrace."

thanks I found it too. I see he said it was a disgrace for young voters to be paying for retirees and that is what he said was a disgrace. Actually, the disgrace is retirees paid into a system all their life and the money was spent elsewhere, thus making it necessary for young workers to prop up the system.

I think Obama should highlight how Sgt. Rafael Peralta deserved the Medal of Honor but the Republicans refused to give it to him and in essence took it back after promising it and using that promise in a speech. This is outrageous that Desk Generals and Harvard grads in Washington reenacted an event that happened and concluded it wasn't possible despite what his fellow troops say happened.

This is in edition to canceling pay raises, denying long over due leave and other benefit problems.

He has been talking about all of these things in detail. But when the media quotes the zingers you do not hear about it. Read them call 5 people and tell them about it.

I am really getting tired of hearing from Tucker Bounds. Her whiny voice is just grating. Even in print.

I have been trying to find out what happens to the money we put in the SS each paycheck (in my case over 30 years worth) if McCain succeeds in privatizing SS? Is that money gone or will we all get a refund check for the amount we put in? I've never heard any specifics on this plan, other than the usual crap. I think if people realized the money they have contributed for years would be essentially GONE, that would be a huge deal. Has this ever been addressed with the corporatists crowd or they just hoping no ones asks?
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Even without privatizing social security this $700 bailout will result in a pre-payment privatization of social security in that current wage earners' future social security payments wiill go to pay the interest on $700 billion or more that went to private failures.

I just returned from the rally in Jacksonville where he gave essentially the same speech. It was GREAT. Better news was the crowd size. About 20,000 of us got into the park, and about 8,000 couldn't get in (Fire Marshall). That's FANTASTIC news in north Florida where he lags just a bit in the polls. At least I think he polls a little lower in north Florida. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I understand the importance of not becoming over-confident about Obama's chances this November, but I predict Barack Obama will win the election in an unprecedented landslide, so much so that Republicans will be walking around looking at each other and saying, 'Well, don't look at me!'
It's okay Republicans.....vote your consciences this time. The truth will set thou free.
