AMERICAblog: Obama needs only 33% of SuperDelegates to get nomination

  • SINGING_TROLL · 1 year ago
Did Hillary gain enough intel when she had access to FBI files to pull this off?

We shall see if the Neocon Fascist Pig can do it.

If Obama wins with the help of those 104 superdelegates will he steal the election? And what happens if he only wins 10 and Clinton wins the nomination with the rest will she win with the will of the people?
  • Cindy411 · 1 year ago
The whole superdelegate system is so corrupt. No surprise that the Clintons have been maneuvering behind the scenes to buy off their cronies. Don't forget it was Slick Willie and Shillary who lobbied for the corrupt system back in the 90's when they had the Lincoln bedroom to sell for votes. The Clintoons are nothing but corrupt goons from an era of blatant vote buying.

German staging of Verdi's A Masked Ball on 9/11 with naked cast in Mickey Mouse masks

The self-consciously outrageous September 11th staging of Verdi's 'A Masked Ball' has been dreamed up by Austrian director Johann Kresnik.

He has described the concoction as a populist critique of modern American society, aimed at showing up the disparities between rich and poor, which attracting a large audience.

The comments about the pledged delegates not "really" being pledges is also a crock. In Arizona..... the 5th Congressional district which went big for Obama.... there were 10-15 people running for each delegate position.

These people actually ran their own mini campaign. They came to district meetings, sent letters, phone calls, emails.... just to get my vote for them to be THE delegate. They emphasized how dedicated they were for their candidate, many had worked in multiple states during the primary season, Iowa, NV, AZ & TX.
So how easy would it take to have these delegates change their vote?
Not much in my opinion, since that was THE phrase expressed over and over again...... they would hold fast for their candidate.

Will he steal the election? Hello, stealing is taking something that is not yours, if they vote for him then he was given the votes. Obama is ahead in popular votes, pledged delegate votes so if he gets the superdelegate votes he is still ahead. Please explain how he would "steal the election".

Probably it's not easy and wouldn't happen -- barring some unforeseen circumstance. However, it's not a "crock" either, as you so elegantly put it. People -- and I'm one of them -- merely point out that there is no requirement, either legal or party rule, that requires them to vote a certain way.

That used to be the case. Delegates used to be bound by party rule to vote for the candidate they were pledged to at least on the first ballot. That's no longer in effect.

Imagine, however, a delegate who supported one of the candidates, worked for the candidate, etc etc. Then, the candidate came out and supported something the delegate was dead-set against. That delegate would be free to switch to the other candidate.

So, while it's highly improbable that someone would switch, it is possible.

So Clinton steals it if superdelegates vote for her, but Obama wins it if superdelegates vote for him. Hmm how interesting sounds like affirmative action to me.

Daniel, you don't just "sound" like a racist to me.

How I could have supported the Clintons for the last 15 years is beyond me. I am absolutely ashamed of myself. Never again.

I'm a brown man I'm entitled to call it the way I see it unlike all you guilt ridden white folk.

Also pete the fact remains if she wins with superdelegates she stole the election, if he wins it is beccause he is the chosen one. You guys are nuts.
  • teresaInPa · 1 year ago
you can't steal super delegates. He is not the chosen one yet... just wait to see how poorly he will do in PA and if he can not win PA in November (which was made even more doubtful after his ignorant elitist words about PA voters this week) You can not win the GE.
  • teresaInPa · 1 year ago
All the top blogs have had it with Clinton?

    1. Not true
    2. Who cares?
    3. Top blogs? How very elitist

Come one John, I thought this was about crashing the gates, but it seems you all want to replace the gate keepers.
You are right, the SDs will chose the candidate, but what makes you think they are not going to chose Hilary. Her argument for why she should be the nominee is stronger IMO.

Thankyou teresaInPa for a grain of wisdom in a landscape of Obama hate and ignorance.

nicho 2hrs. ago: "Delegates used to be bound by party rule to vote for the candidate they were pledged to at least on the first ballot. That is no longer in effect."
Could you (or anyone) confirm that the Democratic Party no longer requires delegates to vote for their pledged candidate at least on the first ballot?
I ask because that would explain the fear and panic of the supporters of Sen. Obama (at least on the internet) about the nomination going to the convention. Could it be that they want to shut down the primary process by having the superdelegates come out in support of Sen. Obama for fear that he might not be able to hold all of his delegates at the convention? And not just on the second or third ballots, but possibly on the first ballot? Quelle horreur!
(I'm referring to regular delegates, not the "supers". The superdelegates should be consigned to the dustbin of history immediately after this election is over.)
While Senator Obama may be elite and not an elitist, I can't say the same about the attitudes of many bloggers and posters towards non-Obama supporters. What comes through in their postings is: "We think this candidate is great and you must be either stupid or corrupt not to support him." And they say Sen. Clinton is destroying the Democratic Party...

If anyone is "dividing the party and jeopardizing our chances against John McCain" it's bloggers like you including most of the commentors. You've been doing this for several months now.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I am quite sure there are pro-Clinton blogs, ones that will deliver exactly what Hillary fans want to hear. Wonder why they find it necessary to come to this blog?? I don't go to Clinton blogs, but I do read the press, that is all the Clinton news I need to know.

did you see that the tools over at "Talk Left" (sic) are slashing you?

Big Tent, Armondo, says he is an "Obama Supporter". He claims he likes neither Hillary nor Obama, but Obama is more electable.

But hour after hour they attack Obama and weep that Hillary is being attacked.

And wasn't it bad enough that Hillary had to literally "Run!" from sniper fire and cork screw landings and "no tea" welcoming's during The Battle of Tuzla Tarmac?

Many comments on television that showed Hillary's absurd twisting of Obama's words into an attack on Small Town America called her ridiculous and stated that Hillary's deliberate lies were exactly what voters are sick of hearing.

I hope nobody tells Talk Left. These remarks are the best thing that has happened down in The Hillary Bunker. As The Clinton's and their bff's at Talk Left say about the truth: "Let's Twist It Again! (Like we did at Tuzla, and at Hillary's Iraq vote, and Monica, Paula, Gennifer..."

Side note: whatever happened to Rector, the inmate who was mentally incompetent whom Clinton had executed? Did he vote for Bill?

Well, if the party leaders truly are concerned that this is dividing the party and ruining the chances for November, then why don't 100 or so of the remaining superdelegates simply declare their intentions now, and settle the question?

I think there's something going on behind the scenes that still isn't clear, even to these "top blogs" in question. Either some concern about Obama, or some issue we haven't fully considered, because if it really is so detrimental to the Democrats, there's a quick and easy solution vis-a-vis superdelegates declaring their support for Obama.

So why aren't they doing it? And please, no conspiracy theories about the Clintons, if they were truly that powerful Obama wouldn't have ever been a threat in the first place! I mean it seriously, if all it takes is 33% of the remaining undeclareds to declare, what's holding them back?

    TJproudamerican,

You seem convinced that Hillary's "lies" and Obama's empty rheotoric are going to settle this prolonged battle for the democratic nomination. If so, sit back and enjoy the ride because this is lasting a lot longer than I think you're comfortable with.

Keep workin' the Tuzla story and with Bill's help it may live for a few more days. I'll be busy watching the Anointed One digging himself a deeper hole when explaining what he meant when he described Pennsylvanians as bitter, clutching to guns and religion and suspicious of immigrants.

    Should be fun in Denver.
