AMERICAblog: Obama on economy: "We don't have a moment to lose"

It's awful that we have to wait until 1/20/09 to install Obama. Meanwhile, let's see how much cooperation he gets from Dem leaders and members of Congress (some of whom are dead ducks) who could be helping him during these 2-1/2 months of Bush rule.

It could be done, but we're going to have a hint of how much cooperation the Rethugs are going to offer...and don't expect anything from Bush. So, it's probably going to be an awful xmas for far too many. Thank goodness we have something to look forward to, though.

Obama isn't going to get far trying to explain the situation to Bush because Bush doesn't understand the problem let alone any sensible approach to resolving it. The transition will be peaceful but in fact Obama is already the man in charge. Keeping Bush on a leash shouldn't be too difficult because Rove/Cheney had him leashed all along. The potential for sabotage comes from Cheney's office, wherever that is.

because Bush doesn't understand the problem let alone any sensible approach to resolving it

Yep! That is it exactly. Bush has no idea what is wrong and what to do about it just as he has no idea what to do to fix the problem. Come on! Bush gets confused tying his shoes. Economy? Duuuuh??? So much of the sneering and snickering, the smirks are to hide that he is hopelessly clueless, and terrified we will find out. Got news for him. Some of us have known it since late 2000. Easier to sabotage what you don't understand, especially since you get a sense of power that takes away the feeling of hopeless panic. And gets back at the smart aleck, uppity, darkies who get good grades and had no trouble reading. The damn grades prove they are socialist, Commie, pinko, faggot, ivory tower liberals as they are the only ones who read even if we know they don't like read either and just are showing off.

As soon as Bush started yelling and screaming about needing a bailout by Friday or else, you knew he again had no idea what he was talking about. I don't think any of those damn neocons have any idea as according to their best ideologues, can't possibly be an economic collapse as long as the top people are greedy, hateful, bigoted, and crooked.

It's too bad Obama is a law abiding man. If he were a demagogue like Bush, he is already popular enough that he could kick Bush out of office and have him sent to Guantanamo just on his own authority as the president-elect. It's what Bush would have done had the tables been turned and Bush won by a massive landslide. He would have declared Obama an enemy of the state who hates America, a traitor, who wants to destroy America.

Then again, we elected Obama precisely because he is everything that Bush is not, an intelligent, capable, true leader, who is honorable, decent and respects the American people, our Constitution, Bill of Rights and the laws of this land. Well, I'm not Obama. I hate Bush and would like to see him locked away forever as he has so unjustly done to those in Guantanamo, Abu Gherib and so many, many other secret prisons. Maybe with Obama to lead us, we will learn to be more tolerant, and law abiding to be able to have the patience to see the law work it's slow, torturous, agonizing way toward true American justice and tempered with mercy for all, even Bush and Cheney.

    We hope so.

Oh Bush is just going to sit there, smirk, and tell Obama he intends to make everything even worse so it'll take longer for the Dems to dig out from under it.

President Obama (Jeeez that sounds good) indeed has his hands full, as well as the citizens. Together, the agenda for cooperation and fairness will come to be.

As Digby has pointed out there has been a dangerous power vacuum in this country for a while now.

By executive order, Bush just gutted the medicaid budget that provides dwindling but basic services to seniors and the disabled. Most of us have no idea what that means for people who cannot work, who don't have the means to support themselves. Bush, however, shows that he doesn't care. I wonder how many of those recipients of Medicaid voted for Bush 43 in his two elections.

I heard recently that, despite all the perks that come with living in the white house, the first family still has to pay for any food that their private guests consume
