Historically, Edina has equaled Republican. There has rarely been a more consistent area of the state that votes for Republicans, but the gradual shift is very evident this year, and it could become an all-Democratic year in the city known for representing the picture-perfect GOP stronghold.

The media had been working the false balance between campaigns overtime...And, each time a minor Obama example is stretched to balance an egregious McCain sin thus making that sin seem not quite so sinful. Thank God the media's never learned its lesson and continues to wound and damage the public interest and our future with trifling, off-point nonsense...Is there an Emmy category for this???

The conservative idiots at the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board said that McCain won. I sent them a letter to the editor and asked them to please not drink before that next debate to make sure they watch the real debate. These idiots are really nuts, they will declare McCain the winner no mater how bad he performs.

The Chicago Tribune? Would that be the Chicago Tribune of the Tribune Corporation that was bought out by Chicago real estate mogul Zell about a year ago? The same Tribune Corporation that includes the Los Angeles Times as well as the Miami Harald along with the Orlando Sentinel and the Baltimore Sun? The same Tribune Corporation whose new owner, Colonel Zell, fired half the Orlando Sentinel newsroom because readers want stories about puppy-dogs, not hard news that is distressing? That Chicago Tribune? The one colored with the crayon marked "Discredited"?
Not that I'm concerned or anything. ;-)

Mrs. Greenspan is right, but it hasn't gone snotty Nicolle Wallace's or Steve "Chromedome" Schimdt's way. The "story line" is now irrevocably in place by Monday AM: McCain was "angry", didn't look at Obama (which is a problem), and didn't hit it out of the ballpark, like he was supposed to. Obama "looked" Presidential, was a nice guy, and knew his shit. A HUGE loss for McCain, and 2 more debates, regardless of the format, may not change this "story line."

My version of the VP debate: show Palin a world map and make her identify countries (capital cities, extra credit). I'd pay to see that.
Obama needs to really be on his toes for the second debate. Brokaw will be moderating. And we all know who Brokaw loves. It ain't Obama. Look for Brokaw to let McCain ramble on and on and on with his worn out stories to cover up his lack of knowledge on the issues. Obama will have to make his answers short because Brokaw has no time for lengthy retorts from a Democrat.
BTW I am assuming that Sarah Palin has the baby with her while she is in 'Debate Camp' in AZ. This baby is what, 5-6 months old? Shouldn't he be with his mama? Hope she has the good sense to have him with her. But when did good sense and Sarah Palin go together?

Axelrod on MSNBC now. Talking about Bill Clinton and his disdain for Obama. Axelrod says that if Obama loses Hillary will be the leading contender in 2012.
Well, I for one will never vote for Hillary as long as she is still attached to Bill. Probably will not vote for her even if she is the leading Democratic candidate. I will never forgive the Clintons for their treatment of Obama. He is the leader of the Democratic party now and the Clintons still cannot accept that. In fact, they are all but stating publicly that they favor McCain and my feeling is they will probably vote for McCain.
BTW why was McCain invited to Bill's forum last week and not Obama? Am I wrong in thinking Obama was not invited?

Something very contradictory that I would like someone to clear up. On one hand, we keep hearing how much McCain is hated by his fellow senators and especially the Republicans, but then we keep hearing how much the media loves this guy. Is he really that polarized in both cases or is it spin on our side?

OT, but ...
Toxic Politics And it is not that the public has not noticed. By mounting majorities, the public has come to loathe this plan. When it was introduced a small majority seemed willing to give their assent, now, the bill is as unpopular as the Office of the President that gave it birth, and the Congress that is ready to pass it. A bare fifth of the public approves of any plan based on Paulson's. One could find more supporters for abolishing the Federal Reserve, overturning the Civil Rights Act, or making Broccoli the national vegetable. More people believe in witchcraft, than believe in this bill.
A leadership, lockstep and encased in a bubble, is trying to whip and deceive the public. It is possible to fool some of the people some of the time, but this requires that all of the people become fools for all time.
Already legislators locked in honest elections, those few were the outcome is in doubt, have fled for cover. Is there any more clear indication of the public sentiment, than that those who know that the people have a choice, will choose to vote against it?

This is your Democracy America, and if you are not here, now, in this moment, on this day, then what follows are an endless train of days, each one to be lived in the regret of having not stood here now. The choice is simple to war without end, and power without limit, we will add debt without accountability. It will be a burden too much, too heavy, too far.

I was watching Howie Kurtz on his little tv show this weekend (Reliable Sources) and they were chatting about the debates. Howie framed a question this way (and I'm paraphrasing because I'm too lazy too look up a transcript):
"The pundits say the debate was a tie, but the instapolls say Obama won. Are these instapolls a waste of time?"
The CONCEPT that the media may have gotten it wrong never even entered his mind. This, in a nutshell, is what's wrong with the beltway media.

Good morning...am I the only one who thinks this bailout won't work overall? The construction industry is drying up and my son hasn't worked for 4 days...no other work is available, the deliveries of gas in this area didn't materialize, and people are going nuts.
I suppose if you're in the 5% at the top and still have spending capabilities, it's not so bad, but has anyone noticed that the European markets are collapsing, CitiGroup is taking over Wachovia, the country's 4th largest bank, and the sell off in the stock market?

This election won't be won or lost at the debates. Nor will it be determined by the two campaigns' "ground games" -- their get-out-the-vote efforts. Nor, unfortunately, will its outcome even depend on how many Americans wake up on Election Day intending to vote for one candidate or the other.
Instead, my fear is that the Electoral College results will hang on the swing state voting systems' vulnerability to sabotage.

ObW....I am worried about the economy as well...Lost my job last monday...so we're back to square 1. I'm afraid this whole bailout is being built up to hang around the Dem's necks.... I just think it's all a ruse.... Look at this headline this morning:
NEW YORK -Financial markets are off their lows but still down sharply after the Federal Reserve and other countries' central banks pumped more money into the world's credit markets.
Then there is this on the same link:
Dow falls 300 points ahead of bailout vote 09/29/08 10:00 EDT NEW YORK (AP) - The Dow Jones industrial average fell more than 300 points, while demand for safe-haven buying in government debt remained high ahead of a planned House vote on an unpopular $700 billion plan to rescue troubled financial companies and as investors examined a deal for Wachovia Corp.

Gosh, I'm so sorry, and everyone I talk with is worried about their jobs right now..problem with us is that my only income is SS of under $1k per month, and if my son makes no money, we'll probably lose the house he's owned for 11 years. This is becoming very common in this area. Even in the more affluent areas near me, the foreclosure rate is high according to those you see in the local paper, and lots of for sale signs in front of $750,000 houses recently bought. These are generally owned by the financial services types who work in Charlotte. And we're nowhere close to being in that league. : )

The 1st debate is the most important. That Obama did as well as he did must have put a lot of fence sitters at ease on national security & economy. The other 2 debates & VP debate will be highly watched as well, and Obama will get to close the deal, while Palin freaks people out with her unreadyness. Hopefully, Palin will have to again attempt to answer basic questions like "What is your national security experience?"

Frankly, if you're a reporter and walk into the spin room honestly trying to figure out who won by what the flacks say....you ought to be fired the second you hand in your 'story'. You are too stupid to function as a reporter.
Andrea Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan, who has a very heavy hand in this treasonous mess. He was supposedly arrested in June, 07 and is now under house arrest. If you doubt that, find out where he has been and get back to me. You really wouldn't expect Ms. Mitchell to act like a real reporter would you????

The difference in the polls vs. the pundits certainly puts a big hole in the theory of the liberal owned media.
Man, in my 53 years I thought I'd never see anything worse than the Nixon years...
This is the poll results in the Minneapolis Star-Tribune after the debate:
# of votes % of votes
Sen. McCain 2415 40.2 percent
Sen. Obama 3086 51.4 percent
It was a tie 8.3 percent

Also, in the suburb:
Edina red could turn Democratic blue
