AMERICAblog: Obama: "our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe"

  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
No, look: According to McCain, Osama bin Laden says Iraq is the central front.

Let's derive our foreign policy from his statements.

    Duh huh...

"Afghanistan is collapsing and oil has quintupled since the war McCain supported started. Daddy's a foreign policy expert who deserves these donuts and coffee"-cable news

Yeah...they tried to get snarky, telling that "he hasn't been on his fact finding mission yet, usually one goes out and gets the facts and then decides"...MORONS, sheeit. They are just trying to show old armored to the hilt McCain "wonderful day for shopping in Baghdad" is some rambo. Let 'em. Obamas response ought to be "Maybe McCain ought to go on a fact finding mission to locate Czechoslovakia, since he seems to think it exists still, and not worry about my ass so damned much".

The main point, that no one mentions, but Obama is saying, the war in Iraq was WRONG FROM THE START. While most americans would probably be kissing Bush's ass if we won, it was a lie from start to finish. Including and especially (as Bugliosi points out in his book) that Saddam was NOT suicidal, not a threat to the US, and the whole thing was a boondoggle that Bush had decided on before getting into the WH.

The Iraq war sidetracked us and god bless Obama for saying it often and clearly. It doesn't matter if "things are getting better" (and besides, those nutcases can't even decide which way it has to go before we can leave...there is no "finish" in it. They claim it is getting better so we can't leave, or it is getting worse, so we can't leave...they won't define ANY benchmarks (or stick to them) which once acheived would let us leave.

    Forever war McCain....

An unnecessary disaster is not quite as disastrous this year.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
The Disaster in Chief is scheduled to give a news conference any moment.
Anyone wants to bet that he will whine about the Democrats not wanting to drill for precious oil off shore? He certainly works hard, at least, for his buddies in the energy companies. That much is clear.

If only he cared for the American people like that!!!

it's really still not too late to impeach the Bush Crime Family
even though Nancy Pelosi says it's off the table.

the Bush Crime Family has largely achieved Bin Laden's
stated goal and all as a result of the actions of 19 criminals.

heck of a job, Bushie, heck of a job.

IMPEACH. then PROSECUTE. that is the ONLY solution.
  • TomJoad · 1 year ago
Unfortunately, I think it is too late, and with a close to evenly split congress, it's not going to happen. Besides, if we did it, you'd have president Cheney for at least until January. Who wants that?
Prosecute (pick up Bugliosis book on this) after he's out of office though...

OT, but is anyone watching the stock market? Below11,000 again...Wachovia Bank has been downgraded as well. Are investors dumping bank stocks? Must have been a big sell-off this am. Are consumers withdrawing money? I guess the market will recover somewhat before the end of the day, as usual, before it starts its downward cycle all over again tomorrow.

What a solid mess this regime and its greedheads have gotten us into.

"...our single-minded and open-ended focus on Iraq is not a sound strategy for keeping America safe,"

That's a start. It would be nice if Obama would point out that it was never intended to be. The War in Iraq is a success. The mission was accomplished. Trouble is, no one will talk about what the mission really was -- least of all the people claiming it's a success.

Obama is not perfect but he, along with our support, will move this Nation in a more progressive direction. His vision and the competence of his administration will finally begin to dig us out of this hole we've been in over the last eight years-if you read the speech today you know what I'm talking about. John McCain will be a disaster...he is without a doubt mentally and physically unfit to be the next President. We need to channel our energy into funding and working to get a democratic administration in place so that we can advance our progressive ideas. The GOP is funded and ready to take away this opportunity from us...in my opinion they know they have lost congress for years to come but the one thing that can stop our advance is the White House and the power of the veto. We have to win in November by any means necessary, there is no other option!

this is what he needs to do and it is working well for him. He needs to keep making speeches and showing ads where he speaks to the issues and explains his position. In contrast to McCain and GWB (it is not like he needs them, though) he looks like a genious. He needs to keep showing up on TV talking like and behaving like the president and adressing the issues that people are most concerned about and how he is going to work to solve those as president. In these speeches he needsto keep connecting McCain and Bush as if they are the one and the same. He also needs to keep fighting back against the smears. He should never let the sun set on a smear. He has done a good job of that so far.
anyway, if he does these things and picks a good V.P., he should have no problem winning in November. America will look at him and his V.P. pick and compare them to McSame-Bush and their failed policies and will make the right choice.

Well, awhile ago, I saw a video in clash entitled
The Presidential Candidates face-off in side-by-side videos on
    Clash to address the
US housing market crisis...but check out what Obama actually says. How
about McCain? What do you think?
