i like it too.
i've already heard the next round of slings and arrows - that too many "Clintonites" are being picked: as if they were being picked to carry out Clintonesque policies. They are being picked because they know their way around, and they can execute OBAMA'S agenda better than those having no knowledge of Washington. New and Fresh are fine, but we've been there, done that, it screwed Clinton up in 1992, and we ain't got time to die............

Well, we appear to be well into the third Clinton term. sigh.

He worked for Reagan first. Holder was also an early Obama supporter. Many of his early supporters had worked in the Clinton administration and they were among the first to realize we did not need the Clintons back in the White House. Gregory Craig and Susan Rice are other examples.

Given the moment that we are in, this is no place for virgins and wide-eyed newbies. I think that this appointment is a wise choice. Bear in mind that most qualified democratic-leaning appointees will have some bearing on the Clinton administration, it is almost impossible for him to find anyone with the kind of experience that is needed now, who doesn't. And no, Obama's admin will not be a Clinton redux.

Finally -- some integrity at the top of DOJ. Boy do we need it!

Well, since he worked for Janet Reno, I like him. Good ole' Janet, she could have have been governor of Florida but the transplants from Atlantic City didn't understand the sun dress and the big red hat and the pick-up truck. Janet's a good ole' girl yellow-dog Florida Democrat, you know. Anyhow, if she liked Eric Holder, I like Eric Holder.

Denise and Marc Rich are especially happy about this news today.

There's an old saying that goes, hold your friends close, but hold your enimies closer. Holder was behind the pardon of Marc Rich who was one of Clintons slimeiest of associates. If this comes to pass given the BS with Lieberman today, perhaps those in the netroots will finally appreciate the fact that those we elect only care about the people when their stumping for a regal position. Once the fanfare is over and the new kids on the block take their seats, it’s business as usual. Screw the American voter. We have our prize and after a few years, who’s really going to care anyway. Election cycle after election cycle the results are always the same. Power does whatever it wants to do and whether Democrat or Republican they both answer to a higer authority. That authority is the money that flows from K street and warped corporate interests. Politics has always been and will continue to be a shell game with we the people holding the short end of the stick each and every time. Don’t hold your breath waiting for Obama to go after the teleco’s on FISA as the governments need to spy on you is far more important. Need your computer after that trip you took to Europe? Don’t worry, Motherland Security will get it back to you in a few months. Need a forclosure bailout because your being evicted in the dead of winter. Not to worry, you surely must have some relatives you can shack up with until spring when you can then use that new tent you got for Christmas and join the others living under a highway overpass. Yeah. When it comes to doing what is right for America, when it comes to doing the peoples business, all the flowery speeches given seem to fade away just like the old soldiers we are, and after a while it’s business as usual and screw the little guy.

President Reagan nominated him to a D.C. judgeship.
he helped prosecute several high-profile defendants, including a judge, a diplomat, an assistant U.S. attorney

I am a little confused... If Obama wanted to announced his financial Team first, including Treasury secretary, then why is this happening now?

Don't worry, like Nancy's clean table, there will be no investigations, no prosecutions, no trials...what? I'm too cynical?

I don't personally go for "the sins of the fathers" thing regarding former Clinton employees that a lot of people seem to subscribe to.
And there are few that hate that race-baiting war-monger (aka Hilary Clinton) more than I do.
I don't know a lot about Holder yet, but what I've seen so far sounds good.

Eric Holder would have a troubling conflict of interest in carrying out this work in light of his current work as defense lawyer for Chiquita Brands international in a case in which Colombian plaintiffs seek damages for the murders carried out by the AUC paramilitaries - a designated terrorist organization. Chiquita has already admitted in a criminal case that it paid the AUC around $1.7 million in a 7-year period and that it further provided the AUC with a cache of machine guns as well.
Indeed, Holder himself, using his influence as former deputy attorney general under the Clinton Administration, helped to negotiate Chiquita's sweeheart deal with the Justice Department in the criminal case against Chiquita. Under this deal, no Chiquita official received any jail time. Indeed, the identity of the key officials involved in the assistance to the paramilitaries were kept under seal and confidential. In the end, Chiquita was fined a mere $25 million which it has been allowed to pay over a 5-year period. This is incredible given the havoc wreaked by Chiquita's aid to these Colombian death squards. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dan-kovalik/lawye...

I was hoping they would pick Patrick FitzGerald. He would have been an incredible appointment and would have truly represented change.

Let's see if he has the stones to pick Elliott Spitzer to head the SEC...
I mean, if Craig and Vitter can hold positions, and the Feds are not going to file charges, ...

. He's black, son of immigrants, a New Yorker, and a Stuyvesant boy. A lot in common with Obama. Let's see if they can betray all of it.
It's up to us to keep the pressure on, or the "culture of Washington" will marginalize us, the real majority who just put them back in power. Don't let them think we signed a blank check that they can cash anywhere and spend any way they want. .

Just hope whoever is appointed brings a couple of very large brooms to sweep with and a case of disinfectant and cleaner, since the DOJ needs one hell of a scrubbing from top to bottom
