We have the re$ource$. And so many new contributors. Now we just need to make sure that everyone votes!
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Now, we need to make sure everyone gets to vote and that their vote gets counted.

    YOU BETCHA!

One thing we now know for sure. Public financing of presidential election campaigns is dead, over and done with. Nobody is going to limit themselves the way McCain did ever again.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Or the way Kerry did in 2004.

    The Internet changed everything.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
John McCain spent about 10 years angling for- or campaigning for- the presidency and then just threw it away by picking Sarah Palin. Why? How could someone, so accomplished in politics, be that tone deaf? It doesn't make a bit of sense.
  • mjn · 1 year ago
McCain likes to gamble. But this gamble did not pay off (besides controlling a couple of weeks of news cycles). I am glad he showed the country how he gambles, before election day, when everyone could do something about it!
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
It's easy to be a "maverick" when you're not responsible for anything.

All he did was hang out with the Corporate Media and pop off every once in awhile.

Now we see what kind of a leader he really is.
  • Mollie · 1 year ago
I'm so proud I was part of it. To bad McCain has to use his robo calls to get votes.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Gives me an idea. I'm going to send one penny to McCain with an empty circle for the second penny as he isn't worth the second penny.
  • brian · 1 year ago
    That's truly amazing.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
I think even in 2004, the entire amount raised by Bush for his campaign was under $100 million. And if not, then certainly in 2000 against Gore. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe he could buy the Republican party?

And some of their surogates - like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh. Pay him to shut up.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
He could probably get it at a "distressed" price these days.

My favorite line (or set of lines) is from Kelly's Heroes:

Crapgame (Don Rickles): "How're things going with the bank?"

Big Joe (Telly Savalas) : "Nothing. The Sherman [tank's] broken down and nobody's moving that Tiger [tank] out
of the square [in front of the bank]"

    Crapgame: "…Then make a deal."

Big Joe: "What kind of deal?"

Crapgame: "A Deal deal!" pause, "Maybe the guy's a Republican."

Free markets, and everythings for sale, and all of that kind of things..

John and Joe- you just don't understand. These are phantom donors.. This is all a plot by ACORN; they've made up these 632,000 names and are channeling George Soros $ direct from the black UN helicopters to the Obama campaign.

If we can turn out the vote. IT'S OVER. McCain is toast.

So much for the Bradly effect. Seems like there's a lot of Americans out there who aren't acting like 'real' Americans.

On another note, this has to be a blow to the K street project. They used to have a monopoly on money. They are going to have a tough time out bidding the public, given laws that contain them.
  • songbird5391 · 1 year ago
I am white, I am voiting for Obama and I am a "real American." A "real" American wants what is best for the country... they do not blindly follow along "party lines" they want what's best for the country.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
Where I live "white' people a quietly voting for OBAMA, and I think they will be in LARGE numbers. people just know it's the right thing to do.
  • songbird5391 · 1 year ago
I am sure the same thing is true here where I live. I actually live in a very conservative ALWAYS Republican state. I just think we need to stop electing the same kind of people and hoping for a different result. Obama is correct... we do need change.
  • songbird5391 · 1 year ago
Wow is right! I hope Obama and Biden can keep the momentum going from now until the election. This has been a good weekend... the 100,000 people in MO, the record fundraising efforts and Colin Powells endorsement. I hope Obama and Biden win... this country needs a good dose of hope, honesty and integrity. I think they are a great choice for the White House.

    Spend it!

    Spend it smartly.

Time is running out; many Americans have already voted.

(and spend some of it defeating the voter fraud/election fraud evils that could easily steal this election once again!)
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
I live in a "BIBLE BELT" area, and this is what i have been struck by. Within a 100 miles where I drive on a regular basis there are a few OBAMA signs, not a surprise, (who wants to pay for a new window). What is SO SHOCKING is, there are ONLY a HANDFUL of McCAIN signs. THAT speaks VOLUMES.
  • Hurrycane · 1 year ago
Where I live, it's pretty red. I know of one McCain sign, in an overgrown roadside area with a bunch of other signs, and no Obama signs.

But as far as bumper sticker goes, I'd say there's a 3-1 Obama advantage, at least.
  • songbird5391 · 1 year ago
    It sure does...
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Can anyone doubt that Obama will bring change to our political arena? So far he has DELIVERED change in the way political campaigns are run and this is just the beginning.
  • Apphouse50 · 1 year ago
But, but, but... John McCain on Fox just now: What's important is that he didn't do public financing!

    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

And those 632,000 new donors! ACORN! AYERS! TERRORIST! SOCIALIST!

What a sad little man John McCain is.
  • Hurrycane · 1 year ago
    You're effing KIDDING me!

Why can't he just admit that his opponent inspires people -- like Powell said?
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
You mean he didn't TAKE THE TAXPAYERS MONEY to run his campaign, he just accepted their donations voluntarily right McCreepyBastard?
  • Apphouse50 · 1 year ago
I'll let him tell it, because he's ever so much more eloquent than I could ever be, that John McCain:

"I'm saying it's laying a predicate for the future that can be very dangerous," McCain said on "Fox News Sunday." "History shows us where unlimited amounts of money are in political campaigns, it leads to scandal."

And if anyone knows about scandal, it's John Keating McCain.
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
McCain said we are trying to buy the election. He is right $86 at a time!
McCain again chided Obama for not living up to his pledge to accept public funds and warned of the damages of unlimited spending.

"I'm saying that history shows us where unlimited amounts of money are in political campaigns, it leads to scandal," he said. When asked whether Obama was buying the election: "I think you could make that argument."

I read that and just shook my head. McCain has not said one positive thing during this campaign cycle and it just continues.
  • songbird5391 · 1 year ago
Amen... he's like a broken record.
  • cole3244 · 1 year ago
