AMERICAblog: Obama to repeal Bush executive orders

  • sherifffruitfly · 1 year ago
Will that make Obama the first President in US history to take powers away from himself?

EDIT: And moreover: Does this mean Obama = smaller government?

Universal Gravitation is just a theory.

I just received an email from someone about this and I immediately ran here to see if it was true...
I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS! Wow. Reason prevails.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
I can give President-elect Obama a list of orders to be repealed, starting with Executive Order 13438 (the one that criminalized the antiwar movement)

Another good one to repeal would be directive 51, which basically makes Bush a dictator in the case of some kind of catestrophic event.

    This was my favorite:
"Yesterday I had had enough!! Fox left us behind with all the democrat talking heads.
That with all of this working to hurt Sarah Palin is the end for me.
I really think that God will step in and fight for her. He never rushes in. He is kind and sometimes He waits to let people show their worst. The time will come when He will move and when He does, I wonder how much power Fox News will have left.
I would not want to be in the shoes of all of those working to destroy Sarah Palin"
  • vickif · 1 year ago
Since these people throw the word GOD all over the place, don't they think that God would have made sure that MCCain would have won instead of PRESIDENT-ELECT OBAMA. Sarah Palin destroyed herself by being such a nitwit.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
He said he would do this and I believed him.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I did too, mirth. I did too.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
yup.. this is one of my pet issues, and I'm glad Obama cares about it too.

Is Karl Rove a Mormon? I know he was from Utah.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
not a Mormon, according to wikipedia...

scroll way down for his religious views...true to form, he says he's a Christian on Fox news, but in other forums, says he's not 'a believer'...

    What a beautiful idea.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Don't you get the feeling that these are real human beings and whatever Bush was, he wasn't a real human being. I hate to gush over Obama, doggone it, he's still a damn corporate moderate, but, "First Granny" may well be the best of the executive orders to come from the Obama administration. <g> Love them! Love them! Greatness may be a white in returning to this nation, but don't you feel it. It is on its way.

I've no doubt Bush loved his daughters too. Ick!
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Hi Karol & tlsintx :)

Yes, vkobaya, *love* is the emotion I am feeling for the Obamas, and Yes, even with disagreements I may have about specific Obama policies, I do feel a sense of greatness returning to this beat-up country.

The granny story thrilled me. Just the thought of, Yes, real people (great way to describe The First Family!) in the WH to admire.

I am hoping Barack & Michelle allow lots of coverage of their daughters, especially little "Rosebud." She is so adorable and impish. I am so in love with her! Which isn't to slight the beautiful and graceful Malia.

After the review of Bush executive orders and the issuance of a few of his own, if Obama issued a final executive order, banning any subsequent executive orders, how would the next President deal with that?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    slightly OT -

Jed had a great post the other day on right-wing hate radio/media...he wants to focus on that to try to lessen its effect on so many people...i would love to see AmericaBlog join in on this as well...

no doubt. step 1: kill clear channel. kill them dead. break them into little pieces never allowed to congeal again.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
that would be an awesome idea.. media conglomeration is one of the biggest issues no one talks about. (gee I wonder why it isnt covered by the corporate media...........)

The poor fundie nutballs. Gay-bashing is about all they've got left to hang on now. No more literature at the Grand Canyon suggesting it's only a "theory" that it was formed by gradual geologic processes over millions of years.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Exactly. Plan to see LOTS more fag bashing now that there is very little left to hate...Blacks are no longer allowable, with a black prez; Hispanics probly needed for labor they don't wanna do; cripples get those neat parking spaces but it's pretty nasty to make jokes or hate them...what've they got left? Only us. White trash ignorant assholes need a scapegoat to bash to feel good about themselves since most of them lead miserable lives anyway, swilling beer and watching NASCAR and praying to their jeebus myth who don't seem to deliver on all them material things they pray for. So what is needed is a victim to throw hate at...and butt fuckers are just perfect for that role.

Maybe we can get an executive order from President Obama to rid this country of the Mormons and all their Hate. Maybe we can get UTah Burned to the ground...While we are at it ...Can we have one issued to arrest anyone who voted for a Republican....AHHHHH while I am dreaming can I have a pony too.

"Will that make Obama the first President in US history to take powers away from himself?"

No. The first was George Washington. Not to EVER be confused with any other president(s) named George.

What an intriguing period in American politics. Even if you don’t like the guy or his policies, you have to be inspired by the positivity of the global reaction resulting from Obama’s election.

I’d love to dive into Obama’s mind and discover his motives and internal dialog. To go through a year of campaigning is very difficult, but to go through a year of campaigning and deliver a speech like he did that is truly inspirational. I’m excited about to see how he really attacks global warming and the energy crisis. The transition from the bush administration to his administration should be interesting.

What’s also fascinating is looking at the dynamic of who voted, how they voted, and what drove them to vote. Obama’s campaign created a wave of energy that grew bigger and bigger as his campaign moved forward, engulfing (in a good way) each supporter and supercharging them. How did they do this? It all started with a vision. Obama’s vision, planted deep within his mind, began to take root almost 2 years ago today. The power of his vision can teach every American citizen about how to accomplish goals using the powers of visualization and intention.

I looked into this vision questing further and found that many super-successful people have been using vision boards to help focus their mind and accomplish their dreams. A vision board is a collage of images pasted on a board that represent your desired outcomes, your goals, and dreams. By studying your vision board, your brain gains clarity on what is important to your success, the things you MUST accomplish. I found a site www.TheVisionBoardKit.com that allows you to download a free 8-step power plan to creating vision boards. I’d highlight recommend downloading it.
