AMERICAblog: Obama: Why do McCain and Bush have a problem with JFK?

  • jr · 1 year ago
Crack-ho marrier McCain will do anything to please his Weekly Standard fanboys all of which could use some Claritin for their allergy to military enlistment forms
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Exactly, Obama. Too bad Bush and McCain don't have your brilliance...they're jealous as hell, you know.

Meanwhile, jets just passed over my house headed to the NASCAR race...they do a flyover in a display of jingoistic bullshit, and I want to know why our tax dollars are paying for it.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
They do it so the rednecks with small dicks can comb their mullets and tell their buddies they fought in Vietnam and it keeps the southern racists fired up. Oh yeah, the military. Only thing is when you challenge them they fold. Had this conversation with a neighbor he was waxing on about how our military is #1, funny I said they aren't able to beat a bunch of Arabs armed with rifles, no helicopters, no B-2, no jet fighters, no aircraft carriers, no nuclear weapons, no nightscopes, no tanks, how do you explain that again. Walked away cursing me.

Obama's response is brilliant. He is turning around his perceived weaknesses (as perceived by the Republicans) and making them real weaknesses for the Republicans.
I have been waiting for this type of fight back for a long time. Hope he keeps this up.

It is a calculated political attack by McCain / Bush. They want to place doubt about Obama in the public's mind. But the problem for McCain / Bush is Obama makes sense. Diplomacy or talking is a legitimate way countries resolve differences without resorting to war.

Here is the playbook McCain / Bush are following:

Fan the fear: Ignore the critics, Republican wise men say — there is still no better way to win than to stir up concerns about Democratic patriotism and their commitment to national security and killing terrorists. It often remains the best call in the GOP playbook, especially with McCain atop the ticket.

Republican officials privately urge lawmakers to whack their opponents whenever they can for worrying more about coddling terrorist suspects than condemning them, failing to support U.S. troops, exhibiting weakness in dealing with dictators, and rushing to a quick Iraq exit that could put U.S. servicemen and women at risk. Polls still show GOP strength on national security and fighting terrorism — at least when compared with their lousy numbers on domestic issues.

That thinking is entirely illogical. As the Vulcans say, "Only Nixon could go to China.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nixon_in_China_(ph...)
In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, Mr. Spock quotes what he says is an old Vulcan proverb: "Only Nixon could go to China." The analogy is that Captain Kirk, known for his dislike of Klingons, was nevertheless escorting Klingons to a peace conference.

One of the few things Nixon did right and the Repubs are pissing on Nixon. Who won't they throw under the bus; Maybe Joe Barron? He is a bit worse than the Reverend Wright. By the way another Republican MegaChurch pedophile has been caught.

JFK Appeased Khrushchev in the Cuban Missile Crisis and Khrushchev Appeased JFK and Cuba was Appeased also and that is why the Human Race didn't Die on October 27th -28th 1962 .

Oh come on Obama, that's crazy talk...

That's like saying McCain went back to normalize relationships with Vietnam or something.

    Ohhh no!
  • AngryOne · 1 year ago
Just 48 hours after jumping on the Bush appeasement bandwagon, John McCain is probably regretting his leap. First, it was revealed that the tough-talking Republican presidential nominee was for negotiating with the Hamas government in the Palestinian territories before he was against it. Then Americans learned that in 2003, Mr. Straight Talk favored engagement with the terror-sponsoring state of Syria. Now in his accusations against Democrat Barack Obama, John McCain conveniently forgot Ronald Reagan's dealings with Tehran during the Iran-Contra scandal. Given his defense the Reagan administration at the time, McCain's selective amnesia comes as no surprise.

    For the details, see:
"McCain Defended Reagan, North During Iran-Contra Scandal."

For a start, Kennedy, Nixon and, yes, even Reagan were much, much smarter than Bush and McCain, a couple of dunces if ever a saw them.

People have condemned Chamberlain and others for Appeasement with Hitler in 1938 but what else could they do but Appease him,the answer has always been War, France and Britain should have went to war with Germany in 1938 but all the military planners of Western Europe knew that any war in Europe would leave the Victor of the War whoever that might be at the mercy of Stalin and the Red Army. When people who should know better talk of that time they like to not mention that the real fear of the '30's was not Hitler and Nazism but Communism,Stalin and The Soviet Union. Also if anything it was the German-Soviet Non-Aggression Pact that seal the fate of Europe.and while Hitlers invasion of Poland on Sept .1 1939 is talked about to condemn Appeasement of Hitler nothing is usually mentioned that as part of that Pact Stalin invaded Poland on Sept.17 1939.a fact that is not talked about much that German and Russia were allies in all but name until Hitler betrayed Stalin and invaded Russia. So the Real Appeaser of Hitler was Stalin.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
I don't fault Chamberlain for Munich.

He was just buying time and I'm not sure if the Czechs could be defended anyway. I mean, how? Was England going to airlift troops into Czechoslovakia? France wasn't going to budge, that's for sure.

But I do blame Chamberlain for not cutting a deal with Stalin a little later, when Stalin and Molotov were begging for a united front against Germany.

Under pressure from Labour, Chamberlain did eventually send a delegation on a very slow trip to the Soviet Union to talk to Stalin, but the Germans got wind of it and cut a deal with Stalin before Chamberlain's delegation even arrived.
  • reflux1000 · 1 year ago
yes your right that was the big mistake Chamberlain made not making that deal with Stalin.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Oh, just looked it up. Guess the slow boat arrived, but the guy in charge had no authority to cut a deal with Russia:

Stalin knew that Hitler’s ultimate aim was to attack Russia. In 1939, he invited Lord Halifax, the British Foreign Secretary to go to Russia to discuss an alliance against Germany. Britain refused. The British feared Russian Communism, and they believed that the Russian army was too weak to be of any use against Hitler.

In August 1939, with war in Poland looming, the British eventually sent a minor official called Reginald Ranfurly Plunckett-Ernle-Erle-Drax. He travelled by slow boat, not by plane. He did not have authority to make any decisions, and had to refer every question back to London. The talks dragged on.

The Russians asked if they could send troops into Poland if Hitler invaded. The British refused. The talks broke down.

In the same month, Hitler sent Ribbentrop, a senior Nazi, to Russia. He offered a Nazi-Soviet alliance – Russia and Germany would not go to war, but would divide Poland between them.

Stalin knew Hitler was lying, but he did not trust the British either – the Munich Agreement had convinced him that Britain and France would never dare to go to war with Hitler.

    Stalin had two choices:

if he made an alliance with Britain, he would end up fighting a war with Hitler over Poland.

if he made an alliance with Germany, he would get half of Poland, and time to prepare for the coming war with Germany.

    He chose the latter.

I have had to re-read the Obama statement several times for it to sink in. At age 57 I thought back to those times and wondered if it was mankind that has changed or is it the perceptions of a dumbed down society who through apathy, simply let fascist freaks like the Bush's and Cheney's of the world with the help of a bought and paid for MSM continue to brow beat societies into submission while chipping away at the very constitutional values that our founers shed blood for.
Perhaps it is the remaining 28% of those who still believe Bush is doing a great job who are the ultimate losers in all of this and yet when confronted with eight years of nothing other than death and destruction to show for his time in the White House, those who make up that 28% still manage to keep a straight face when cheering on the boy who would be king.
When John. A posted his piece on Bush and Nazis, the conspiracy theories came to the surface again. But if we were to take the time to really go back in history, another thought comes to mind. If it looks a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably is. No wonder Christopher Story continues on the track he does with regard to Herr Bush Sr. and his direct connection to the Nazis.
Keep talking Barrack, as the more you do, the greater confidence I have that this once great country will and can be brought back from the abyss. Continue to speak truth to power, for just like vampires that can't stand the light of day, we may one day drive all of the neocon snakes back under their rocks for the good of all mankind.

I just listened to an hour long program on KDKA Radio in Pittsburgh, PA. This is a 50,000 watt station........first radio station ever in the USA. The host Kevin Miller had a Rev. Manning on the program who spoke about Obama being a closet homosexual. He claims that Obama and Reverand Wright are lovers.
So what the hell is up with this?
  • 1billinnj2 · 1 year ago
the funniest thing i read so far is what chris rock said" no one ever heard of a superdelegate until a black man is running for president" lol

Why do McCain and Bush have a problem with JFK?

They all have a problem with anyone who is for the people. Funny you should bring up JFK. Today while standing in line at the grocery store, the headline on one of those gossip papers said JFK Jr. was murdered, poisoned before his fatal plane crash. Wonder what the truth is to that crash. That is the 2nd time I saw an article that said he was murdered.

    Nevermind JFK.

Apparently, Bush and McCain think Bush's own Secretary of Defense in an Appeaser too:

Robert Gates a few days ago: "We need to figure out a way to develop some leverage with respect to the Iranians and then sit down and talk with them. If there's going to be a discussion, then they need something, too. We can't go to a discussion and be completely the demander with them not feeling that they need anything from us."
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Foser points out that ABC, CBS, the New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times, Time and ABC's The Note, have all extensively covered the "appeasement controversy," but have made no mention of Gates' comments. Given that Dana Perino claimed that Bush's remarks simply reflected "long-established United States policy," why is the fact that Bush's own Secretary of Defense opposes this policy not news?

    Obama '08!
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
How come no one in the MSM has mentioned another of our favorite Bush's, good ol' Prescott Bush, international banker to the Nazi's? Or Prescott's involvement in the planning of a coup against our own government in 1933? Or how he was guilty of "Trading With The Enemy"?

    Curious, that.

I believe JFK did negotiate with the Russians -- actually JFK and Robert Kennedy convinced Kruschev it was his idea to remove the nukes.
  • Mike_G · 1 year ago
If we had embraced the Bush/McSame policy and shunned talking to the North Vietnamese in the 1970s, McCain would still be rotting in the Hanoi Hilton.

    Great post, John. Thanks.
  • Asterix · 1 year ago
Beg pardon, John., but JFK damed near got us blown up with the Cuban missile crisis. He didn't negotiate with Khrushchev, just made a unilateral declaration. He also got us into Vietnam, against the advice of de Gaulle.

I don't consider JFK to be a great president, but for his setting a moon landing as a target for NASA. It really was Eisenhower who got the space push going, wasn't it?
  • bernardaB · 1 year ago
How naive do you have to be to believe that JKF did not negotiate with Khruschev?

Also, Eisenhower negotiated with Mao to get a cease-fire in the Korean War and he negotiated with Ho Chi Minh on the Vietnam cease-fire and proposed elections which he later blocked.

    bullitt,

This is a blog inhabited mostly by adults, this kind of propoganda-repeat-until-people-believe stuff doesn't play that well. Stuff like that seems to work well on the weak-minded set though...

At any rate, these statements are nothing more than a distraction from the real issues at hand, like foreign policy, the economy, and healthcare reform. Instead of talking about that, people choose to perpetuate crap like this. How very sad.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    ZennBK,

I shouldn't speak for another commenter, but I interpreted bullitt's comment to mean this foolish stuff is all the Republicans have for the rumored October Surprise.
In other words, they have nuthin'.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Jfk didn't negotiate with the Russians. He told them to get the nukes and launching systems out of Cuba or risk being vaporized.

Reagan initiated star wars and moved Pershing missles into Europe; and basically told the Russians and East Germans to kiss his ass.
