AMERICAblog: Obama will YouTube his weekly radio address

  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Great! Can you imagine McBush doing that?

Meanwhile, I think Hillary would make a better AG, but--maybe O has someone else in mind for that. Good luck to her in whatever she decides, though.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
I'm pretty sure Hillary had a lot of input on where she's going -- so I would assume she prefers this. As AG, it's a lot of paper work and running around the country talking to lawyer groups. As SecState you fly all over the world and meet with foreign leaders and heads of state. That sounds much much better to me.

I think Kerry was a state prosecutor.

I wonder if AG is in the cards for him?
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
I will defer to you, nicho, and Bush Bites, Kerry just might be the guy... Just now, in the local car repair, I spoke with a woman from Chicago who was ecstatic about Hillary's possible SoS gig. Wish I'd had more time to speak with her, but alas, they came with the news that my car was still not ready to be inspected. : )

I think I speak for everyone here when I say....I'd let him have his way with me if he wanted.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
Hopefully, he doesn't, has more integrity than that...besides, can you imagine how Michelle would come down on everyone involved?

Please, another Bill "Because I could" Clinton is all the Dems need.

?????? What the hell does that have to do with any of this?
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
I was watching a repeat of "Little Britain in the USA' the other day where David Walliams plays a gay Prime Minister and is coming on to a black President (this was shot waaay before Obama was elected) and the President's wife (Vivica Fox, I believe) enters the room. It was prescient in that we had a Black President with a striking, statuesque First Lady.

For those of you who can't take a joke, it's a south park/ family guy reference, because I think the idea of the youtube address is extremely refreshing. I'm a straight guy incidentally................

    This is good.

One of the ways Republics have been able to demonize the Federal Government is by keeping it distant, mysterious and even sinister.

Giving it a face and showing that it's working for the people's interests might arrest some of that.
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
As aptly shown over the last 8 years. Although, when Bush got in front of a camera it had pretty much the same effect.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
Wow! For the first time in years, people under 65 might actually hear (and see!) a presidential radio address.
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
    Watch it bub, I'm 66! :-)
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
No offense intended, just making some funny. :))
  • gwpriester · 1 year ago
    None taken. :-)

Do you suppose that Obama knows how to use The Google?

Spokeswoman Jen Psaki. John Stewart is going to have fun with that one. :-)

Dems OWN the Web. The base on the Right is not as smart as we are. Just look at their blogs compared to ours. They can't write, they just bloviate and hate.

We are light years ahead on this.

The internet is a series of Youtubes.
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
No, no, no! Just when I thought we were out of the woods, you pull us back in!
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Wow, what a great idea! I love that President-Elect Obama has already in a little over a week, moved so far ahead of Bush in terms of how he's handling things.

It shows the vast difference between a frat boy made good, and an intelligent, incisive leader...

    Kewl beyond words! Gobama!
  • marijo · 1 year ago
Very this millenium! It will be nice to be able to get on YouTube and see the president reaching out and making us all a part of the process...by the people for the people...change indeed!!!!!
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
Oh, oh, oh! I can't tell you the ecstacy I feel knowing that perhaps we can put the "tubes" and "internets" lingo aside finally. These past 8 years have been such a sensory drag that intelligence, speaking well, communication, and elegance are like tinkling bells on a summer breeze. Now that's change. If only I can get the phrases "turd blossom" or "post turtle" out of my mental wikipedia. *hack p'tooie*

As importantly as anything else, this is yet another nail in the coffin of the right-wing's dominance of the radio waves. Another big step in making radio completely irrelevant - let the Luddites have it.

What a great (and simple, long overdue) idea. Finally. Presidency 2.0!
  • mr_matalino · 1 year ago
