As you can see from the photo, he's the ONLY person of COLOR at the meeting of repukes. You know that MOST repukes are FUMING at the thought of some "NEGRO" running their cult, er, I mean party.

It doesn't matter, he is a Republican and they do nothing wrong, ever, it's always the other people(s) fault.

Wow.
Nice racism, John. Well done.
Right up there with the Magic Negro song.

Wow, now it's racist to suggest that Republicans, at their core, are rather racist against black people. It's also racist to show a clip of a Mel Brooks movie poking fun at racists. No offense, but you're a bit of an idiot.

That word was like a punch in the gut when I first saw the movie in 1974 at the age of 12, and it has not lost its affect. I remember looking around the theater and wondering why everyone was laughing and why I felt so damn bad. Yuk.

I find the satire in this clip quite funny. The whole town was exited to welcome the new hero that was coming to save them until they saw his skin color. Then it didn't matter that the man could save them from evil to the town he was still black. Remember there is a little truth behind all humor.

john, your point is of course entirely correct, and for myself i still finfd blazing saddles to be one of the best , funniest, and probablly wittiest, movies in existance to tackle the idea of stereotypes and racism. the post you are reacting to however brings to mind another of my pet worries, that of extreme behavior. it is so easy to ascribe it only to the far right. here is an example of far left mind control behavior: "any discourse involving race and humor is at heart racist". to this school of thought it matters not the intent is to combat racism by satire, only that you dared utter the dreaded "n" word. this kind of extremism seeks to proscribe words, styles of discourse, and shut down avenues of communication. i'm not sure who i'm more afraid of; the far left, or the far right.

I have gotten that reception at job interviews. Apparently, I "sound white" on the phone and what with all that college on my resume, folks just make assumptions.
I refer to the reaction the "Who let the Negro in?" look. yeah, you kinda know you aren't getting the job after that. No matter how qualified you are.

Thank You, John! It's been a wicked week of dealing with a pay cut and cut hours, all I had to do was read your headline and look at the frozen first frame to start laughing-out-loud! Laughter is something that doesn't have to be paid for! Seriously, you nailed this one on so many levels! Well then again that's what makes you consistently special!

This is one of the funniest movies of all time, and apros pos of our current political reality, which is a bonus. Why Mel Brooks lost sight of what was funny so soon after Blazing Saddles will always remain a mystery.
Young Frankenstein was the second of his one-two punch, but then Silent Movie and High Anxiety came in at half-funny, History of the World, Part 1 had moments of brilliance and long spans of boring. And the rest were rubbish. I wish he had one more stroke of brilliance in him.

Of course that old fool on the roof is a Republican, but I still laugh anyway. I thought about this scene and how it relates a long time ago, but it's still ever timely and relevant to how the sub-human GOP operates.

Thank you for posting, I laughed this time just as hard as the first time I saw this scene so many years ago. It is so absurd, Mel Brooks is a true comic genius, on whose shoulders stand the likes of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert.
