AMERICAblog: Oil at $70, $130, $150, $200

  • Tom3 · 1 year ago
Whoa, your blog is malfunctioning. It refuses to load anythign but the idiot banner ad. Please fix it.

Oil at only $70 a barrel? What crackhead Repuke inbred said that?

Oil has already broken $130 and it will go nowhere but UP. We have passed Peak Oil and the days of cheap oil are over. Forever.

Get ready for $200 a barrel and $8 a gallon. That will crash the economy.

I was having trouble at a few other blogs with the same banner ad. No problem with other sites.

WE had gasoline costing $3 a gallon back when oil was $70 a barrel.

So I think it will go higher than $6. I think the gasoline price is lagging the barrel oil price but it will catch up.

This is what happens when Repukes deregulate everything and give big tax subsidies to Big Oil.

and the worst part is... 15-20% of the price is SPECULATION.

in fact, its speculation... NOT demand, that's driving the prices up.

"The price of oil may go up, but it also may go down. Many variables might or might not affect future price fluctuations."

There! I'm an "energy expert", too! Now where's my six-figure paycheck?

Bloomberg is reporting oil futures right now at $131.74/bbl. It will never go below $120 again, I don't believe (maybe when pigs fly). There's too much money to be made, the demand overseas in countries like China and India is increasing, and we only import 40% of our oil from OPEC anyway. One guy from LA called CSPAN this am and said wells operating there had declined 15% in the last year. And yes, oil speculation is driving up prices as well. (Hey, any of us can guess as well as that guy.)

Face it, the earth only holds so much oil. So, if anyone has any sense, they will immediately (in every country) start figuring out ways to increase public transportation and different ways of fueling it, and our homes. There's a real push on for nuclear energy (no answer on where to put the spent fuel) and coal (another resource that will continue to change the landscape and in spite of "scrubbers" will continue to pollute). And the awful truth is, everyone will be forced to change their lifestyle. The day of the individual auto may be over...I've even seen stories of rural types riding horses now, and more people are using motorcycles and motor scooters in this area.

We're not getting the leadership we deserve right now, but I believe that will change in Nov. I would hate to see riots when people can't afford gas to even get to work. And a news story I saw reported that used cooking oil is now being stolen from restaurants (to process for converted diesel engines)..

My son insists we should bring back the steam engine...
  • BarrieT · 1 year ago
Some years ago engineers started arguing that steam engines could be made much lighter and more efficient with modern materials and manufacturing methods, plus external combustion engines are easier to make fuel-diverse (i.e. burn anything).

I am going to start bycling to work after Memorial Day weekend.

I got rid of cable early this year.

I can fight the oil companies, too!

Here's that article on the cooking oil thefts...

Once again Chris in Paris is the only journalist to delve into the problem. Western economies are being bankrupted. I am more than a little ticked at Al Gore because he defines the problem as environmental ONLY. Jimmy Carter had it correct back in the 70's, our world economy is based on a diminishing resource.
