Israel tries to play down minister's warning of attack on Iran
The threat, which is at odds with Israel's support so far for an international campaign to curtail and, if necessary, confront Iran's uranium enrichment programme, contributed to frenzied buying in the financial markets, where oil prices soared to a record $139, and sparked an international furore.

The report mentions that Europe is experiencing an increase in food prices due to transportation costs. Have you seen much of a bounce in food prices at the local markets, Chris?

Oil is at $137.75/bbl this am, according to Bloomberg. And corn and grain prices are climbing in the US...

The economy seems to be reaching the "perfect storm." Thanks a lot, you greedy bastards.

Avg price per gal is $4.01 in the US, but I've seen it at $3.99 in this area this morning and usually by afternoon, they've raised the price again. This means all those SUV and large truck drivers are paying 40 cents to drive one mile (assuming 10 mpg), while smaller cars getting 35 mpg are paying just over 11 cents. What a difference. Really thankful for my 12 yr old Saturn now.

But will I be able to buy cereal next month?

I don't drive much in a four cylinder truck. Just back and forth to work and swing by the store for groceries on my way home and an occasional visit. Work is 4 minutes away. It's usually a small wimpy limp dick guy driving a big truck. They're nice to drive but I don't want the cost.

I'm sick of an asshole bearing down on me in a huge SUV or truck and you look over and it's a little wimp.

McCain’s chief surrogate, Senator Lindsey Graham, did not adhere to that message during his appearance on ABC’s This Week, with George Stephanopoulos.

Stephanopoulos asked Sen. Graham if McCain’s policies are essentially “an extension or maybe an enhancement of the Bush policies.” Sen. Graham answered, “Yeah, absolutely.”

    Bush = McCain = Bush

I just have to mention this because it was such a horrible scenario...must be the close to 100 degree heat we've had here for the last week (and 99 today), the state of the world and climate change, etc.

Anyway, family members were at the house, and we were watching 2 guys climb a large tree to destroy insect nests that were killing it (hardly any leaves on the tree). While we were standing there watching, it became instantly dark and you could see all the stars. The sun had gone out...I went over and hugged my grandson and granddaughter...and we knew it was the end.

And I'm not the least bit superstitious, BTW, I'm a rational atheist. Sometimes your worries just coalesce and become something else in your dreams, I suppose.

I worry for the children. I was watching a video last night about hunger increasing in the world now and couldn't finish. Me personally, I'm going to try and protect mom for as long as she's around but then I don't care. The rest of my bush voting family are on their own.

Oh, and we used to get rid of those catapillar nests with some newspaper, soaked in lighter fluid taped on the end of a bamboo fishing pole but you probably have some type of burning ban within city limits there.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
It doesn't get rid of all the catapillars but the nest falls to the ground and you squash it and all the catapillars inside. The remaining catapilars on the tree are picked off by birds.

Think what is happening to China since the US consumer has less, (a lot less), money to spend at Walmart.

sorry to be so pedantic, but the plural of euro is euros, not euro.

I see that Chimpy's energy "policy" is the same as it's always been: "Drill in ANWR! Drill off the Continental Shelf!" What a moron.
