Many of us who spent most of our lives in public service are painfully aware of **not** being "on the public tit" for personal items.
Palin doesn't seem to have this sense. . $150,000 for personal clothes, State of Alaska paying to have her family schlepped around the country.
But then Sen. Stevens also seemed unaware of it not being cool to have contractors remodel your house whom you favored with legislation.
Maybe it's an "Alaska thing"?

Palin is the biggest socialist of all. She distributed dividend checks to the residents of Alaska from oil proffits. THAT is the definition of Socialism. Alaska has NO tax base and the largest landmass state. Where do people think they get their money to build everything? You guessed it. They suck on the teet of the lower forty eight.
Who cares if the skank has spent 150 grand of the NEOCON money. If these people are stupid enough to give to their cause, then screw them.
They tried to create Eliza Doolittle, it failed misserably....she has not been passed off at the ball as a princess. I understand none of her clothes were by American designers either.....all European. What an Elitest Palin is!

Somebody should tell the Mayor of Moosejaw that being selected Veep isn't the same thing as winning Queen for a Day.
careful there is a city in Canada called Moosejaw and I don't think the mayor wants to be confused with this tart.

I saw him this morning when I took out the garbage. I asked him if he got a thank you letter from Sarah for the great clothes his donation had bought her. He told me he hear on Fox that it was just another story made up from the Liberal Media. I laughed and said yeah, probably is. But in return for your donation you got a nice set of lawn signs. I have raised the bar on my homemade signs. I ran a floodlight out so the signs can be seen at night. He asked yesterday how I could afford to pay the electricity and I told him "Socialists have lots of money, we get it from you guys."

You should set up a fan so that a breeze blows across your yard, maybe toward some windchimes, and when the neighbor asks, tell him that's the righteous wind Obama was talking about in his speech yesterday! (the Righties are trying to make a huge deal out of that).
That would probably send him into stroke territory...

Palin uses the system for personal gain
-Cut Wasilla budget to update her office and get a SUV -Built a house with dubious connections to a contractor -Billed Alaska $17,000 to stay in her own house instead of governor's house -Billed Alaska $21,000 for free trips for her daughters with some luxuary stays -Spent $150,000on clothes make-up and goodies for kids including $300 baby stroller and $92 for a baby outfil
BUT PALIN PROMISES TO BRING FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY TO THE COUNTRY BY CUTTING UNNECESSARY SPENDING.
I've been buying my own clothes for about 25 years. I would have had to spend $6,000 a year to hit $150K. I do love me some October surprises...

I have been hearing the pundits talk about Obama's suits and how much they cost. It is wrong to compare when Obama has purchased his suits out of his pocket. The problem is that the RNC spent donors money to buy the top fashion for Palin. Spending 150k shows that they are out of touch with the middle class .

What's so infuriating is that the MSM never made clear that Edwards didn't deliberately go looking for a barber who charges $400 for a haircut. He was on a quick stop between campaign appearances, he needed a cut, and his staff called around for a barber who'd come to him rather than his having to go to the barbershop, with all the logistical and security hassles that would entail. Edwards didn't know the barber was going to charge $400 for a "house call" until he was presented with the bill.

The problem with a lot of politicians and this includes some Dems as well is that they have no sense of shame. They start believing they are somehow better than us and deserve more. They don't want to play by the same rules, be held accountable when they don't do their jobs, be laid off because the company found someone in Asia to do the job for 25 cents a hour. They wouldn't vote for an increase to minimum wage for 15 years because some company CEO said it would cut into company profits. Folks, don't mistake for one minute that the politicians we elect are for the most part taking the job because of the money and perks. I loved it when Roberts got his lifetime appointment as Chief Justice and then bitched about his pay level. Hey asshole, when you interviewed for the job you knew the salary, you also knew that regardless of how you screwed up you can't be fired. If the RNC wants to piss away their money on clothes that is their right, but please stop Barbie Palin from claiming the Joe Six Pack horseshit. If she doesn't have a wardrobe on their income which I think was reported as $175,000 which is in the top 5% of incomes then tough shit.
katjam
FYI:I am one of those fortunate women whose income is high enought to be hit by Obama's proposed tax increases. While I do not want to pay more I feel it is fair.
As for Sarah's wardrobe I am appalled. The most expensive work suit I ever bought was $750. I thought it was extravagant but it fit so beautifully I thought it worth the expense. I can understand the Republicans felt they needed to add to Sarah's wardrobe and no one would have been upset if she had spent the price of a good's men suit on her suits. But the idea that this self-proclaimed Hockey Mom needed designer clothes shows the utter contempt the Republican party holds towards voters.
I guess Sarah doesn't know how say "thanks but no thanks" anymore. She has been corrupted by power or those in power even before she takes office. It sort of takes my breath away to witness the transformation of Palin to Queen Sarah Antoinette.

Perhaps Palin's self-appointed "hockey mom" image was a bit overblown. "She was never a hockey mom, she was always the prom queen sitting in the back of the convertible waving to the hockey moms" said Simon Doonan, creative director at the high-end clothing store Barney's New York.

The news has been full of the "Palin glasses" (made in Japan) and the "Palin hairstyle" (the upsweep, which they're teaching at the local "beauty" schools in this area).
This is good that these women are imitating SP; that way, I will know which ones dumbly follow her fascist views and will be able to avoid them. Of course, around here, it's hard to find too many that don't--even if they don't have the glasses and hairdo.

Unacceptable. There are plenty of department and clothing stores to get similar attire for a fraction of the cost. Total waste of money, which isn't some of it public campaign finance dollars?
Also, I would like to see a report on how much they have spent on Cindy.

I am not a fan of Sarah Palin by any stretch, but I have to admit she has a nice body, and wears clothes well. That's part of the reason why this story is so amazing: They could have taken her to Macy's, or even Sears, and got her some nice suits, dresses, and skirt/blouse combos, and she would have looked like a million bucks, in clothes that "hockey moms" can afford.

Yesterday, I got a robocall from the RNC...*69'd it back and got 866-520-5769. Called back about a half dozen times to add some expenses to their budget.

I intend to do this on a regular basis.

The NYT quotes a Republican flack named William FB O'Reilly (no kidding) stating that there would be no issue with the campaign buying a candidate Brooks Brothers suits. Considering the outcry the Rethugs made over a $400 haircut, spending $150,000 at Brooks Brothers would be a nationwide scandal.

This is just more evidence that the repug party and carl rove felt it was necessary to show off their so called desire to allow women to be in positions of power. I continue to feel, no matter how much Mac says he's proud of her, that he was told by the repug machine who he was going to select as vp. The repugs probably knew they had no chance to win this election and just wanted to muddy the waters. They didn't count on the fact that people are smarter and more aware now than they were four years ago.

Sara Palin is much more dangerous than Bush and her actions while in political life are an indicator. She doesn't come from money and public office is offering her all the goodies she never had. Add to that the headiness that comes from power. Think the Bush/Cheney regime was bad? Send Palin to Wahington and we'll see an administration SO corrupt we'll be wishing for the good ol'e days of Bush/Cheney. She is a woman that can be bought and sold.
woodroad34
Actually, Palin and Bush are the two dumbest jerks around. What made Bush work was his lack of real ambition or direction and having really evil, but smart puppet-masters like Cheney and Rove around. All Palin has is McShame (and look at how he's handled his campaign). Palin is VERY ambitious, but stupid and that's dangerous. She's like Bush when he had those hissy fits and asserted he was the President and went off-script on TV . Darth Cheney or Rove the Hut pulled him back in. The speech patterns, the inept seeking of the spotlight, and false claims of actual work (resume padding) are all clues.

the reason this is news is because McShame and Peon have been claiming Obama is an elitist. 'Scuse me, but dropping tens of thousands a day on wardrobe for this bimbo, who claims to be a down-to-earth Hockey Mom, directly comes from the "do-as-I-say, not-as-I-do" school of facist elitism, especially in these Republican-instigated financial crisises. Nothing down-to-earth here, move along, people.

I don't know why anyone here is shocked by this. More importantly, I don't know why anyone at all still watches Fox News. Weren't they unanimously proven guilty by a grand jury for improperly firing employees and then they got off on the premise that news stations aren't required to tell the truth? I wouldn't even have a problem with this except for the outrageous hypocrisy involved. I mean, all politicians get money for their campaigns so they can look good in front of a camera, so I don't really even have a problem with her spending 150k on wardrobe if she's got money like that. The problem is that somehow this isn't an issue to Fox, but John Edwards wanting to look good in front of a camera is.
