AMERICAblog: On the changing politics of South Florida and the chance to defeat Ileana Ros-Lehtinen

  • Paddy · 1 year ago
Annette Taddeo is a first class contender and one I've been pimping for a few months. Even my hard core Latina R sis won't vote for Ros-Lehtinen again, she's fed up with the old Cuban meme.

Can someone please explain to me how telephone polling is anywhere near accurate? I have not had a landline in ten years and I don't know but two or three people ...they are OVER 75... who still have them. Dally Kos had some stuff about this issue today. Let's see, MSM is polling seniors and showing that the percentages are really close on Obama and McSame. Now that's really helpful accuracy.

I've been thinking about your comment from this morning all day and I totally feel the same way. Sometimes it just feels like it's over. Might as well just accept it and try to enjoy what's left. I fought verbally with my family over the phone all weekend about things. My immediate family are like what's wrong with everything with this country, condensed and in my face. One voted for bush because "he's someone he'd like to have a beer with and would do sumptin' about them messicans." Another voted for same because her fundie preacher told her to. Another is a total feather head, didn't vote and doesn't even know who was running for president the last two national elections--no kidding. So I'm constantly fighting with them. It always seems to be about me yelling at them and they don't know what I'm talking about. It just doesn't do any good. It feels like constantly kicking a mule and you feel bad and exhausted afterwards. And the mule is mostly just puzzled. They just don't get it.

A mule or horse can get kicked all day by a person it you wont hurt it. They kick each other all the time. But when they kick a person, you could probably be killed.

Maybe because I'm gay and can let my brain absorb more of my surroundings because I have to or something because I sense that it's like their brains are soft and complacent or something, like the rest of society. I saw a program on TV awhile back and they were interviewing some Indians in the technological industry. Man, they were sharp and taking in everything. One day the children of this country will be making their shorts and socks for 50 cents a day.

It's not worth your effort to argue with people who watch FOX because they want unbiased news. You'll drive yourself crazy.

The people you describe here are very common around here. Especially the
"have a beer with". As if that is some measure of who should run the nation.

    Then there's Doug Tudor.

Retired Navy Master Chief and lifelong progressive Democrat running against third-ranking Rethuglican Adam Putnam in FL-12.

Please help this progressive, ELECTABLE candidate take down one of Bu$h's biggest enablers.

C'mon, Joe & John. Throw us a bone.

Since most Democrats are pro-war, inc. Pelosi and Reid (judging by their votes, not their occasional speeches), why does this or any other particular race make any difference ? Gov. George Wallace had it right in 1968: "There's not a dime's worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans."

But the puzzlement does sorta make them look around. Gonna call the fundie one now and try to say something. I'll probably just get the answering machine. I'll come back and report.

    hold...

Joe's sweet. He said, "And, this is a special note for any of you who have ever vacationed in South Beach or Key West -- or anywhere along in between. You have a stake in this race because that's the district Annette will represent. Won't you feel better knowing one of your favorite place is finally represented by a Democrat? when he meant "controlled by the Russian Mafia." But hey! a Democrat is a Democrat is a Democrat.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
My wobbly grandpa said something like that years before Wallace became a household name.
"There's nary an inch difference between the democrats and the Republicans, but that's the inch we live in"
BTW the face on that Dime in that of FDR. It used to be worth a lot more.

OK, just got off the phone with the fundie family member and she says, "I'm not going to even vote." I told her it's a sin to lie. She said I need to, "lay off the politics." I told her that she was certainly about politics when she voted for bush twice. It's just more confusion. Never does any good. etcetera etcetera etcetera

Good. May her contingent stay home and pray on Election Day.

the Baptista royalists like Ros-Lehtinen need to be destroyed in Florida

She's one of the Repubs who criticizes the Democrats for any kind of oversight over the Bush regime. She's a typical mean-spirited Repub who thinks Bush and the CEOs can do no wrong. It'd be nice not to see her in action during hearings on C-Span.

My dream is to see FL turn blue enough that a stolen election there would no longer be possible.
