AMERICAblog: OPEC president responds to $200 oil question

I still don't understand the relationship between the price of a barrel of oil and the price of a gallon of gas.

When oil was $25 a barrel gas cost around $2. Now we are at $120 a barrel shouldn't gas be at $10 a gallon? Is my math screw or is it just me?

Starting to see an impact of the high gas prices here. Noticebly reduced traffic on roads this weekend even though it was beautiful weather in the 80's, few were traveling to the beach or anywhere else for that matter.
Reduced number of people walking around in stores, but few really buying things. Mostly food.

Even my fairly wealthy friend in CA is seriously looking to get a small, fuel efficient vehical because she spent 1500 last month on GAS alone to run her denalie and truck. They live in the country so everytime they need to do something, they have to drive into town which is several miles away.
I told her to get a Toyota Yaris or Priuis. We have a Yaris and will be getting a Pririus by next year!

My friends brother filled up his boat this weekend to go fishing and it was $400 !! The sales clerk said he had never seen anyone spend so much on gas and offered him a free soda !

From another angle, the price of oil has not gone up, it's that the value of the American dollar has gone down. Remember 75¢ coffee? The coffee didn't change and I don't mean Starbucks. What changed was the price of the dollar. It went up from 85¢ per Euro to . . . $1.5 per Euro. Do the math, [85 + 85 = 170]. The dollar is virtually worthless today. That's why friends don't let friends vote Republican. Ever!

Don't forget, the summer "driving period" hasn't even started yet and then the oil refinaries will be shut down for "maintenance" just for good measure.
Look for $ 5.00 per gallon gas this summer. It's about 3.90 in some parts of CA already and 3.59 - 3.65 here in FL as well.

Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what your country could do to screw you over ,again, and again, and again.

Why is is that the rest of the world seems to know why oil prices are going up and yet our administration refuses to admit that 1. a falling dollar causes the inverse for all commodity prices and is the real reason the cost of everything is rising and 2. emporor Bush refuses to acknowledge that the US is in a recession along with the MSM,. Oh, I know. It's an elecetion year so lets send the people a crumb in the form of a treasury check rather than go back to a constitutionally sound money system like the goldstandard.
