where have all the commenters gone,

This new system has killed the spontaneity and immediacy of this blog.

Off to see what the intellectuals at Les Enrages are talking about.

Just takes some getting used to. Took me a while to adjust to Crooks' new commenting. Bugged me for a while though. I got over it. :)

Chandler in Las Vegas, you got it right. This system sucks. It was invented by Howard Dean and the DNC to ensure that everyone is prim and proper and debates substantive issues in a format suitable to the Sunday morning talking head show.
Oops, there went my clout points. Cute, huh? Maybe I'm wrong, it wasn't the DNC invented DISQUSt, it was the Beijing Olympic committee. No dissent, plesae, we're AMERKAblog.
Anyhow . . . it used to be a free country. I miss AmBlog.

A 12 year old 6th grader was nabbed dancing at a Dallas strip club! Earlier in the year the club was busted for having a 17 year old.

That story is under the TSA nipple ring story! A picture of the woman is shown:

Finally, maybe something to get Rev. Wright off page one.

    Hi, mirth.
The ability to adapt to changing circumstances is a very, very good thing in my book.

It's a pleasure to see you and your lovely avatar, as always. :)

Did HC BC & CC find their resigned to reality of losing speeches yet?

I think their mailbox's are likely loaded with em, maybe they is just having trouble pickin the bestest ones.

Was also wondering if there is a lawyer submitting the divorce papers yet?
Wonder how much $$$ Bill has hidden away just in case and if that is part of the trouble with releasing tax filings?

Outside of that I just wanna hear the music.

Former Alabama governor released for appeal

MONTGOMERY, ALA. — A federal appeals court approved the release of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman on bond Thursday while he appeals his convictions in a corruption case.

The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the former governor had raised "substantial questions of fact and law" in challenging his conviction.

The once-popular Democrat began serving a sentence of more than seven years in June on his conviction on six bribery-related counts and one obstruction count. He has been serving the sentence at a federal prison in Oakdale, La.

God! I hope this blows up in Rove's face. It's a shame that the 'so called' 24/7 news networks don't employ a night staff.

Critics of the prosecution say Siegelman was the target of a smear campaign by President Bush's long-time strategist, Karl Rove.

Rove, who left the White House last year, has denied the charge through his lawyer, who called it "false and foolish."

The House Judiciary Committee has been investigating claims Rove was involved in the dismissal of several U.S. attorneys, and is interested in Siegelman's case as part of the inquiry.

In a statement Thursday, Brian Roehrkasse, a Justice Department spokesman, said of the appellate court's decision, "We are reviewing that decision ... Because Mr. Seigelman's conviction remains pending before the appeals court, the Department of Justice will continue to litigate this matter in the courts and not the media or Congress."

This new development regarding the release from prison on bond of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegleman, a Democrat, while he appeals his conviction in a corruption case that is little more than a GOPer "gotcha" maneuver is wonderful news indeed.

And, yes, the prospect of Karl Rove's head going Ka-Pow ! -- as the contents splatter over the camera lens at FOX News -- would be a consummation devoutly to be wished.
    :)

    Nice, Joe.

    Hi Jump :)
Few trolls, no downtime like Halo - Me too, getting used to it.
One thing I like is that you can always find your place after your comment posts.
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
Good grief Mirth -30... what a looking glass world this is. What happened? Did we trade Haloscan for Diebold?
  • mirth · 1 year ago
In my book, too, Jump. Some do it easier than others, but 'Bloom where you are planted' is my motto. I'm hoping the Disqus guys can add the feature of having indented reply comments post like a new comment at the top (or bottom) of the thread, original comment and all replies together as a 'new' comment. That's how it works at C&L. I do like the indents, but when they stay in their original place on the thread, I lose them. The way it is now, I prefer the linear lineup.

Ditto. Always good to see you and have a chance to say Hi.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Darnit, expat! You made me look at my points (or lack of).

Actually, -30 is pretty good for me. :)

Now we know what we can give each other for Christmas...points!
  • unrepentant_expat · 1 year ago
I could put those points on my vanity right next to my purple heart which I got when a sniper dropped a book of poetry on my foot.

*laugh* at unrepentant_expat. Be more careful!

Serf, I hadn't thought of a divorce angle slowing up HC's tax records.
After we get Obama elected, we'll have a new priority of unseating Senator Clinton. I think it'll be easy. She's been such a help!

    G'night, all you wonderful people.
