AMERICAblog: Pakistani city could fall to Islamic militants

  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
If Peshawar is considered likely to fall, it will. Pakistan leadership makes too many deals with Taliban, so, by now, Taliban thinks it can do what it wishes. I think Bhutto was proably killed because she reneged on a deal with Taliban. An Afghan friend of mine who also lived in Pakistan and India says that was the case.
Pakistan civil war may not be far off.

    and Pakistan has nuclear weapons.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Thanks for reminding us of this. And if Pakistan has nuclear weapons, does the Taliban.
By the way, my Afghan friend says that President Karzai of Afghanistan "used to be" Taliban.

Pakistan has started shelling militant areas:

KHYBER AGENCY, Pakistan (June 28) - Pakistani forces bombarded suspected militant hideouts with mortar shells Saturday as the government launched a major offensive against Taliban fighters threatening the main city in the country's volatile northwest, officials said.

The offensive in the Khyber tribal region marked the first major military action Pakistan's newly elected government has taken against the militants operating in the tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan.

    BTW:

I hope we have a role in targeting these areas.

We're not great, but I tend to doubt Pakistan would be able to hit anything of value without our technology.

The thing I've heard about Peshawar is that most of the civilians are Islamic fundamentalists WANT the militants to take over. As soon as that happens, the rest of the citizenry will be offered two choices under Sharia Law: Either convert to our form of Islamic religion or die. Death is usually by beheading.

Given that, maybe GW should put his library and retire in Peshawar.

I wonder why no one has commented on the extreme closeness that McCain has with gay GOPers: Charlie Crist, Ralphie Reed, PaTRICK McHenry!!! It also makes me think that Joe LIEberman is a closet-case also. Obviously, McCain is "micro-meat-top" and the others mentioned are "sloppy-bottoms." I'm sure that's why they push the rumor that McCain is such a "lady's-man." It's to throw reporters of his scent of leather, sweat, and Aquavelva.

It's also why he MEATS the logcabiners in private.

I still think "Smokin Joe" may be his VP pick.

Local rule is good. Isn't it? Pakistan is an artifically created section of the subcontinent of India, designed to house the Moslem population while the Hindu population occupies the larger part of the subcontinent. That was an accommodation from the collapsing Victorian Empire more than half a century ago. Maybe the time is ripening when that entire Moslem world alignment is finally ready to reorganize itself on the basis of internal issues.

There is no one Iraq. There is no Palestine. Syria is an artificial construct. Jordan is a CIA convenience. As for Pakistan, that has not ever been more than a military holding action. Saudi Arabia is the holding company of a gaggle of desert tribes and their accountants. The Taliban conquest of Peshawar could open the entire Middle East to a profound reorganization.

The heck with war and politics, this is anthropology, people taking control of their own destinies and never mind the concerns of outsiders. Away with the New World Order, this is a real paradigm shift . . . I'm fascinated.

All part of the Brit's Great Game played through the centuries. As I am sure you and others know. the idea was to cut through tribal boundaries with new boundaries to aid in the divide and conquer strategy and keep things in turmoil. I told a British cousin that when the war is over in Iraq, the Brits should pay at least half the cost. He nodded his head.

Sure, Indigo, the KKK should rule Alabama, the Baptists should rule Texas and the Gays should rule California. And, anyone who objects should be beheaded. What were you thinking?
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Get a grip, girl. People rule themselves. You don't know how it would work out until it's worked out. What are you smoking?

Do you just blather any little thought that comes into your little pea head?
  • jnjaycpa · 1 year ago
Did we mention that Pakistan has nuclear weapons?
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Indigo, maybe we should notify BQID that the church is indeed taking over Texas so that he can escape before the beheadings begin....

I despise monotheism. I am so fucking sick of it. It's telling to me that its practitioners never have any idea why anyone would be sick of it. So they roll on. Tells you alot about it and them.

GG, please note that I now actually have an avatar and you know longer can insult me by calling me my favorite dish...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
You have an avatar? It's not showing up here. Anybody else see it?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Looks homoerotic.

Nothing wrong with that, mind you, but it doesn't seem like the kind of look you'd be going for.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
There's nothing worse in the world than a man who thinks he knows. And that's all monotheism is. Whether it's Osama, Dobson or some mullah in Iran. I've seen into the future and it's not bright...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
GG, you should read the "Lives of the Saints" sometime. It's not about the football team...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Let me know when it shows up, GG. It showed up on my MAC immediately.
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Maybe it's a MAC thing but it's still not showing up here.

Anyways, as I was saying this morning about clipping coupons from the newspaper, just returned from the store after using them. Bought some VanCamps Pork&Beans for 20 cents a can. See, that's what you have to do. Keep an eye out and stock up. There was this old Jewish man there and his wife. He saw how many I got. He got some before me. I bet he went back and got some more...
  • Õ¿Õ · 1 year ago
Come to think of it, isn't that odd an old Jewish guy buying something with pork in it? But can't miss up on a deal. Can't blame him a bit.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Back when times were tough, GG, I did a test on coupons. I bought the same things at Wal-Mart with no coupons as I did at Homeland which doubled coupons. Homeland: $17; Walmart: $32.

Now there is a website which allows you to download the coupons that you want to use; as long as the sposoring company will recognize a computer printed coupon. Don't know the name of the site; but I've heard it will save you at least 30%.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Here's something else I used to do GG, which initially drove managers crazy, but now they do it themselves because it doesn't cost them anything and boosts biz. I used to cut out all the coupons and take them to the grocery and tape them to the items even if I wasn't going to buy that item. Other people started doing it; and, pretty soon you could go to the store and the coupons would already be
    there for the taking.
