AMERICAblog: Palin blames the "toxic mess" on Main Street for affecting Wall Street. And she's a Main Streeter.

  • mirth · 1 year ago
She gets on my last nerve.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Somewhere towards the end of the debate, I don't even know the question because she didn't answer the question, she mentioned in a negative way the 1 trillion figure. God, she was so convoluted but I distinctly remember it was a hit on the bailout WHICH McCain voted for .
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
So . . . . Palin is saying that Wall Street is not the problem, its those greedy main-streeters, yes?
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
Well its obvious she got her "streets" mixed up. A bigger mistake was when she tried to sound knowledgeable by mentioning the NATO Commander in Afghanistan, General McKiernan. But she called him General McClellan, which was the name of one of Lincoln's commanders in the Civil War. At least thats the only General McClellan I know.

She tries to sound smart, but she just can't quite pull it off.

i agree regarding getting her streets confused.

exam cram isn't perfect, and she got her answers crossed.

Palin wants to drill in Alaska because (1) the State of Alaska gets a cut of every gallon pumped out of the ground up there, and (2) every man, woman, and child gets a "dividend check" from the Alaska Permanent Fund, which is a state run system to collect even more money from big oil. The average Alaskan gets about $2000 a year.

So, do they want to drill because they have the answer to America's energy problems, or because they're greedy in Alaska? And every penny of those taxes is paid by oil consumers in the lower 48.

For all intents and purposes, the Alaska Permanent Fund is a scheme to BRIBE Alaskans into voting against the environment and for more big oil projects. Is there any wonder Palin and many Alaskans want more drilling? It fattens their wallet, even though it damages their environment and contributes to Global Warming.

Palin dismissed Global Warming issue in a simplistic manner.

Yeah....Alaska gets 80% of its revenue from sucking oil out of the ground so it's not hard to lower taxes or balance the budget up there. Governing Alaska is nothing like governing with the economic challenges of Michigan or Ohio or property tax crippled California. Palin's rubber has never hit the road.

    Wow.
All night it felt as if Palin had diarrhea of the mouth. She couldn't stop spewing her talking points and pointed jabs. Gwen Ifill tried to stop the flow with a question now and then but it was of no use. Sarah was going to say every last thing they taught her at least once if not ad nauseam. You bet cha! She even got in her shout out to 3rd graders!
    Wow.
My favorite part was her announcement of a VP power grab if elected. She'd blow right by Cheney. Maybe she thinks VP stands for Virtual President --with dictatorial powers of course.

Doesn't say alot about her respect for the top of the ticket does it, Johnny????
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
I knew it would happen. Her debating style is what she's been doing her entire career--avoiding questions. You can just can't do that on the national stage.

Trying to understand what she says, let alone what she means is just too brain straining for me.
    Can't do it.
Plus her voice is hard on the ears.

The more I see her, the more I hear her, the less I like her.

I was doing the live bloggin thang over at Think Progress and caught that remark at about 9:27 (Who Lied Today?) in the debate. and posted her quote. Thank you for catching it.

You're the first to mention it.

I love it when she just adds a phrase to the middle of her current sentence, whether it makes grammatical sense or not.

"We have John McCain to thank for bringing in a bi-partisan effort, people to the table, so that we can put politics aside."

I don't know what it is about it, but, people to the table, I find it really funny.

Ouch. I think my brain is bleeding from that. Did she dump the dictionary into the word processor and hit puree?
  • DankoRamone · 1 year ago
I think I deciphered what she was saying, or at least, doing. First, you have to realize, she wasn't speaking english, she was speaking moronic.

She didn't understand the question. She took the topic as being something BAD that McCain did, that's viewed negatively. And she - somewhat embarassed - begrudgingly acknowledged she agreed with what he did (even though she thought it was a bad thing). Then, she proceeded to try to explain how things would be better, yada, yada, yada, to get off of the topic that she STILL thought was a critique of McCain. Then she descended into madness and starting babbling.

This just proves that she was using rote memorization to get out her points. Her memory just switched the words "Main" and "Wall." If she had been talking from what she knows and what she believes she would not have said that. Unfortunately for her, she doesn't know very much and her beliefs are centered on religious fundamentalism (and not the economy).
  • lilyannerose · 1 year ago
If I hear the three-words "John" "McCain" "Maverick" in the same sentence in the near future I'm thinking about going ballistic.

There's just something very pathetic about a 72-year-old man being called a "Maverick." Shouldn't someone of that age be considered a "sage" or a "shaman" or something that indicates they've grown into someone who became "wise?"

You know what is really scary? Watching one of the "undecided" voters after the debate - they thought she did a better job- "SHE answered the questions" OMG- I don't think she answered ONE question. She memorized a script and kept pulling parts out of it, talking in jibberish. Then there are the people that like her cause she seems more like "one of them". That makes her qualified to run the country..... how??? This is a woman who has USED her position to get what SHE wants and what she thinks is best- including firing people for her benefit or if they do not agree with her. HOW scary would that be for her to be in office? Could you imagine her talking to world leaders???WHAT are these people thinking?
  • ManOnDog · 1 year ago
Oh yes... she won THAT one.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
    She's a hot toxic mess!
  • NOobama · 1 year ago
I think Palin did awsome I think she is just like any normal american who has ALWAYS been proud of her country, and will fight for us any way possible, this is no time to put a pussy president in office like obama that will allow us for another attack on america.
  • peeweesmom · 1 year ago
So WHAT did she say?? She read from a script that was writeen for her- what did SHE have to say beside lies? LOOK it up and get informed!! HOW MANY questions did she ANSWER?
