AMERICAblog: Palin budget cut money for rape exams

  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
Where's the MSM??????? Good god, why won't they report this stuff???
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
The "ick"factor. And until and unless Obama or Biden has a rape story of his own, it wouldn't be "objective" or "balanced" or "fair" to report this.
  • JtotheAtotheM · 1 year ago
If you're waiting for the TRADITIONAL media (I don't think the media now a days even caters to main stream America anymore, so I don't call them that) to cover this, don't hold your breath. Besides, we shouldn't be expecting/hoping them to make the call, that would be like planning on winning a football with a call from the referee's. OUR TEAM needs to go out and win this thing, meaning all those woman groups who supported Hillary SO MUCH, and who tried to make the Dem primary strictly a referendum on woman's issues, need to get off of their asses and do something.

    Breaking news:

McCain's chief of staff is gay. He has been with the same man for years. I wonder how that will sit with the homophobic Palin and her bible beating constituants. HYPOCRITES.

Buse "spent much time with Cindy McCain." And here I thought she styled herself in the absence of ANY gay friends! Maybe she needs BETTER gays to surround herself with.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
How many degrees of separation between McCain and dogshit-eating transvestite star Divine? Answer: one.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Better late than never: but Jessica Yellin is WEEKS behind the rest of us in knowing about this. Friend and deputy mayor Judy Patrick is a bare-faced liar. And this is one of the issues Obama can use in an 11th hour ad on the 2nd of November....

    OT -

Looks like a whip saw between the weakness in the dollar brought about by the bailout and soaring, I really mean soaring, fuel costs.

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D93BUF0...

The pinchy pinchy resulting from this Catch 22 is quite painful.

I forgot the only real Bush solution, declare war on and imeediatelty invade Saudi Arab and asbcond with their wealth so we can pay it to Goldman Sachs. This should sit well in the Middle East.

CNN reported on this this morning. It's picking up.

    Where's Eleanor Smeal?

  • lov446 · 1 year ago
I am not sure of what your meaning is here, please explain a little more.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I'm glad to see this getting some traditional media exposure. A lot more people will see it. I think the progressive blogosphere gets credit for making enough noise to force them to report it.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Up at Salon.com (linked via Daily Kos). Palin, in 96, on the protest line at the Mat-Su Valley's lone abortion clinic. Imagine the hockey mom screaming abuse and her religious cant at traumatized young women attempting to exercise their right to reproductive freedom...
  • ViaAlpina · 1 year ago
Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be getting attention, or at least it isn't working well. This woman has supporters. I mean, how can anyone, especially women, vote for this monster? Didn't Biden work to help women victims? We should be running away with the vote, but we aren't.
  • lov446 · 1 year ago
Bill Clinton on the View, said little about Barack, until was asked, but did praise McCain quite a bit, and seemed to almost defend people who wanted to vote because of Palin. He is still a sore looser, and is putting his own interetes ahead of his party and the country. He was almost encouraging voting for McCain. Very disappointed in the Clintons selfishness!!

I've gotten to the point, that when i am in full Medieval Anger and Righteous Grievious Angel of Retribution mode*, I imagine a line of grisly, bloody severed heads on pikes lining Pennsylvania Ave, every one of them being villians connected with the dereguluation of the banking industry. Sadly, I now see William Jeffersn Clinton's head being there, as his due punishment for signing the Phil Gramm bill in 1999 abolishing the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, which opened the door to all the mayhem on Wall Street lately. What a foolish act by a foolish man. Bill Clinton on the View is probably more of the same sollapsistic foolishness.
    -------------------------------------------
    * Thomas Paine said that: "befief in a cruel God makes for a cruel man." I was raised in the Pentacostalist Church of the Nazarene, and attended until I was about 16 years old, which accounts for flashbacks to a mindset that is not very enlightened or civilized. Couple this with my long study of history, and my darker moments can be very gothic..
  • lov446 · 1 year ago
Yes, I agree and I am a democrat. Clinton also signed that bill that allowed companies to send jobs overseas! It may be that, a lot of our problems today are because of Bill Clinton signing those 2 bills!! Wouldn't that be ironic, that instead of bragging what prosperity there was in his adm. he actually hurt America several years later when the affect was felt. I really turned against the Clintons because of the shabby way they treated a fellow dem. B.Obama!

Efficiencies in government. When Palin is saying this, this is what she means.
  • freshpaint · 1 year ago
From NYT Op-Ed by Hillary Clinton -- deadline is September 25 for comment: PLEASE stop this rule from taking effect!
"LAST month, the Bush administration launched the latest salvo in its eight-year campaign to undermine women’s rights and women’s health by placing ideology ahead of science: a proposed rule from the Department of Health and Human Services that would govern family planning. It would require that any health care entity that receives federal financing — whether it’s a physician in private practice, a hospital or a state government — certify in writing that none of its employees are required to assist in any way with medical services they find objectionable.

Laws that have been on the books for some 30 years already allow doctors to refuse to perform abortions. The new rule would go further, ensuring that all employees and volunteers for health care entities can refuse to aid in providing any treatment they object to, which could include not only abortion and sterilization but also contraception."

Sorry for such a lengthy comment, but this is the issue all the womens groups I know are concentrating on right now, since time is of the essence. Planned Parenthood has a link to the public comment mechanism. PLEASE do it.

This CNN video report shows Jessica Yellin thumbing through old newspapers to see if Sarah Palin had anything to do with the rape kits? As if! My God, there wouldn't even be any question if a controversy of this magnitude if the shoe were on the foot. That video footage of Yelling thumbing through old newspapers, as if that would "answer the question" is just ridiculous. There is enough evidence already to prove she either had a direct hand in it, or if she didn't then she is INCOMPETENT! CASE CLOSED!!!

    http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?r...

And John is right! This issue should be exploitied for ALL IT IS WORTH by every women's group. Especially since polls are showing Palin has peeled away some support from older women. I'm sure some of those women have not heard this issue and it would change some of their minds.

I think Trig is Bristol's child and brother.

Did people see the Vanity Fair timeline on Palin's faux pregnancy?

Now now folks wait a minute. We have to come to her defense. She may not have known about this issue because like Bush she doesn't have the curosity to read. Yea, she is to stupid to read. Oh unless its Miss Moose, Hockey Puck Queen magazine. Who wouldn't thought it.
  • Upland_Oddball · 1 year ago
Oh John, I've tried to give this story legs! No line of criticism about Palin brings as much stone silence as this one does.

It shuts the defenders up, makes them cower and generates no response from these pit bulls other than feeble and unsubstantiated denials that she lmew about it at the time. I've metioned it repeated, often in lengthy postings on the web-based comments section of my local paper's opinion pages. I have posted news about the rape kit scandal in the Daily Bulletin, based out of Ontraio, CA, and yet no one, not one single loudmouthed wingnut, has dared to respond, to even say a peep.

About two weeks ago, I sent a formal letter to the editor, to the aforementioned Daily Bulletin, on the subject, and it has not been published. I doubt it will ever be published. Even after the AP verified the stroy. I think it will only grow legs locally or nationally if a YouTube of Sarah Palin is found that has her give orders to cut the funding. As if that ever will be found! No amount of less direct evidence, even as overwhelming as what we already have, willl cause squimish editors to "grow a pair."
  • rexkc · 1 year ago
Don't forget that she fired the state police chief ostensibly for trying to get funding to help rape victims. There is definitely a pattern worth pursuing here.
  • TheOtherWA · 1 year ago
Toward the end of Yellin's story, there's video from the Anchorage protest. Not that CNN bothered to cover the protest itself, but somebody there knew about and made sure the video was used.

I hope the shot of Yellin flipping thru the newspaper was just for show. Laura McGann of the Washington Independent went to City Hall and got years worth of city council minutes on CD.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
amen. I guess they are shell-shocked. I'm guessing it is the Hillary stuff. I personally don't feel like the dems were wise to run Obama OR Hill in this election but Obama has grown on me. Either the women's groups are silent or they are just not being covered by the media, I am not on any e-mail lists so I don't know what they are saying. If it is a refusal to support Obama that will tick me off, the same kind of foot-stomping by the Greens helped hand the 2000 election to Bush and a million Iraqis (at least) have died because of it.

I guess maybe the women's groups feel they will grudgingly vote for Obama in silence?
  • TheOtherWA · 1 year ago
Yellin's story has video of the Anchorage protest. It's near the end. Not that she mentions the protest in any way, but the video is in the story.
