AMERICAblog: Palin gave her daughter a choice to have an abortion?

  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
There was no decision, they just worded it that way.

I'm sure the daughter knew that abortion was not a choice in the Palin family, even if she wanted to.

Thats the America that McCain/Palin wants to plunge us all into.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
So Sarah Palin is pro-choice when it comes to her own daughter.

    how very Republican.
  • bikny · 1 year ago
OOOO! Nice catch. Someone needs to ask Palin what she would have done if her daughter had wanted to have an abortion. Does Alaska have parental notification laws?
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Hell, they don't even have Taxpayer notification laws!
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Same people that gave their son the choice to think Iraq had something to do with 9/11.

He enlisted last year on 9/11 and will be shipped out on 9/11.

    Small Sacrifices.
  • wastingtime · 1 year ago
Perhaps the choice was simply have the baby and get married, or have the baby and give it up for adoption.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
this is from the story on cnn.com right now...

"The McCain aide insisted a key point to keep in mind is that Bristol decided to keep the baby, a decision "supported by her parents."
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Someone call Ted Haggard and get him to straighten this woman out.
  • Ferdiad · 1 year ago
HUGE catch. The media needs to hammer her on this, she will crack. I have always said that Republicans are only pro-life because most of them know they are wealthy enough to travel to Canada to get an abortion if they really want (or some Northern State). Palin's comments reveal the truth, she is in favor of choice, just not for someone else's family.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
OT sorta - no speeches at the GOPer convention but the party goes on...

Yeah, Palin is going to just say that she's a shitty Mother and no amount of sex-ed could have prevented this.

You're missing the story where Todd said he had to go back to work because they needed the money.

Do you think McCain has buyer's remorse, and is this the perfect reason for Palin to drop out of the race to make way for some "better" candidate?
  • benb · 1 year ago
Disgusting thought that there's a shotgun marriage so mommy can run for VP.

That girl needs to be rescued from this situation so she can make her own choices in her life.

Marry the daddy? Who in their right mind would want their 17-old daughter marry some boy just because he got her pregnant?

    oh the irony.

Ohhhhh, it's ok...they'll have nannies, governesses, etc. to do that for him, unlike most other americans.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Also as I keep saying if Palin is against abortion for any reason then why did she have an amniocentesis, an amnio is an invasive procedure that checks for certain birth defects like Downs Syndrome and an amnio can cause a miscarriage but it gives the mother choices before its too late to have an abortion.

Most Christian groups are against mothers having an amniocentesis.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    precisely.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I have to talk to my daughter but I think there are tests that are done routinely during the pregnancy. One of those is to determine if the fetus has any problems. I really should pay more attention when she is telling me things.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
An Amnio is not a routine test it is basically for mothers over 35 but mainly over 40 to check for certain abnormality's. The doctors will tell the mother that an amnio can cause a miscarriage so she has to be certain that she wants to have the test.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
My God, it's Britney Spears all over again.

What a freaking joke this has turned out to be.

Yeah -- he knew about it beforehand. Yeah. Right. I would love to be a fly on the wall at RNC headquarter. I'll bet people are throwing things around the room -- at least the ones who aren't puking in their wastebaskets.

Rove must be on the verge of a major stroke. Twenty years of skullduggery, treason, and election theft ruined by a 16-year-old who didn't know what condoms were for.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I am in agreement with you. What the hell the walls would say if they could talk. I think the whole McCain campaign has spent so much time scrubbing any references to Palin that they forgot the obvious questions.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
actually, this is a win-win situation for him.

we can attack on the blogs as much as we want, it'll never become MSM fodder. they reported the daughter is pregnant, that's as far as it'll go.

reporters can't stand being made to look like bullies... so they won't point out the obvious ironies here.
  • bdhp · 1 year ago
Did anyone notice that Palin has the same opinions as Huckabee? Palin and Huckabee sound like the same person to me. There is one exception, Huck prefers squirrels and Sarah prefers Moose. Sounds like a cartoon, about a Moose and a squirrel. Except we may have to live with this cartoon and that is not very funny.

"We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby,"

"Have your baby and we'll take care of you, or abort and we'll throw you out (with the baby and the bathwater). You decide."
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    another irony...

Bristol kinda knows what its like to be a gay child in a fundie family now.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
The "choice" could have been to keep the baby or put it up for adoption. In reality, this 17 year old had NO choice. She, for obvious reasons, could not have an abortion nor could she really consider adoption---that would spoil her mother's image as a "good mother".
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Sigh! No, I think the conflict was between being a mother and being politician. When it comes to being a mother, she loves her daughter and wants what is best for her daughter. Might have destroyed her daughter if she refused to give her a choice despite her own personal beliefs, that is, might have pushed her daughter into suicide.

As a right wing politician she had to advocate the pro-life stance. It's hypocritical, and bullshit, but that is the way of the Republican politicians. Dishonesty first. Actually, winning first and if it takes being dishonest, they don't care. Maybe she salves her conscience saying that she wanted what was right, to be pro-life. At least, she apparently still loves her daughter, more than can be said of many of these right wing assos. AT least, she upholds one Christian principle, family first. She still loves her daughter and apparently loves her grandson.

What galls me about these right wingers, is that they can't extend that sympathy and love to other people, don't give a damn about the pain, suffering and even death they inflict on others. Often they look down on others as subhuman and undeserving of being treated with sympathy. Therefore, they see nothing wrong with exploiting others for their own benefit as we see in their willingness to watch others die for the evil war in Iraq ... of course, as well as withholding birth control and abortion for families overburdened with unwanted kids. Then again, they also see pregnancy as God's punishment on those promiscuous subhuman girls.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
My brothers both got girls pregnant and never were condemned though my mother wanted the girls to have abortions despite that she was a fundamentalist. But, I am transsexual. was kicked out, disowned and told I would burn in hell forever. Of the three of us, I was the only who went to church, both my brothers hated my Christian friends. God help any of Palin's kids if they are LGBT. I'm still Christian, but a very liberal Christian.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    vkobaya:

I am so sorry you experienced that kiind of spiritual violence in your family. It amazes me to no end how KKKristians somehow believe they have the "mind of God" and can "disown" us LGBT from the church. No one can take away the fact we are CHILDREN OF GOD!
  • Reasonable · 1 year ago
I hope the Democrats stay as far away from this as possible and let the family have their privacy. I feel sorry for Bristol having this in the media this way.

Not that I don't agree with y'all about the hypocrisy of Palin et al. I just think there are plenty of other ways to attack McCain (his obvious bad judgement on many levels) without picking on teenage girls.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
The GOPers want to control my choices. I get to say no and to explain why I say no.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Bullshit. Palin was the one who accepted the nomination for a job for which she is spectacularly unqualified, knowing full well that it would shine an intense media spotlight on her daughter.

It was up to her to protect her daughter's privacy -- not anyone else.

    She fucked up.
  • lark83 · 1 year ago
You have a good point there. Some other blogger said Palin obviously didn't "Focus on her family". Well, here she knows this is going to be a big deal in the "gossip" national press, and she does it anyway. Palin just doesn't give a shit.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
I don't agree with you. I do feel sorry for the daughter being thrown into the limelight like this BUT it is the religious right that has made such an issue over the past 8 years about morality. Certainly their version of morality is not mine but Palin has embraced these nut jobs in that she said she shares McCain's visions, etc. Knowing her daughter was pregnant out of wedlock smacks of hypocrisy and dishonesty and that should be the issue. There is no way of discussing this without her daughter being mentioned.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
Certainly their version of morality is not mine

The reality is it isn't about morality at all but power, and ability abuse that power, get their jollies kicking around, abusing, condemning and causing great pain in others. They claim love, but hatred is the real creed of the Fundamentalists.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
absolutely! just like the McCains are in bed with the Rove gang that used the out of wedlock black child story on them in 200o so W would win the nomination. speaking of which....how come no one has seenhide nor hair of little brown Bridgett McCain during this campaign?

Palin knew what kind of people she was dealing with, she knew this would come out. She knew her daughter would be held to public scrutiny. She just didn't expect the OTHER story about Trig. But since it came up they spun it to get some sympathy. The students who said Bristol was preggers were correct. There is no way you can keep a secret like that in High school.

funny...I don't go to church and I never came up pregnant. It was always the church girls who got into "trouble".
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
What kind of rational thought allows a mother to decide her 17 year old daughter needs to get married? she wants to teach her maturity?

maturity comes with age... again, what kind of decision making skill does this show on Palin's part? forcing two teenagers to get married because they never learned about condoms and her daughter wasn't on the pill?

no, she should be hammered on this. and I DO believe Bristol should be a poster child for why 'abstinence only' sex ed DOESN'T WORK!
  • Will_In_Midtown · 1 year ago
And I love the fact that Palin only made the announcement to squelch the rumor that she was in fact not the grandmother of her 5th child. If it weren't for those pesky liberal bloggers, exactly when was she going to tell us that the little dear was 5 months pregnant? I mean, at some point you can no longer keep saying "She's just fat." Or were they hoping they could just send her off to live with an aunt until all was taken care of?
  • Will_In_Midtown · 1 year ago
OH!!! And how old was she when the bun was placed in the oven? And how old is the father? Does Alaska have statutory rape laws that need to be followed?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    GOOD THOUGHT!!!

what's Bristol's birthday? if she's 5 months pregnant, she was likely only 16 when she conceived.... how old is the father??

I suppose they gave the father a choice too.... marry her or go to jail on rape charges.

    Obama's response per Mike Allen:

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off limits. This shouldn't be part of politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor and or her potential perfromance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."

On charges that his campaign has stoked the story via liberal blogs:

"I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us," he said. "Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like, they that would be fired."
  • Upland_Oddball · 1 year ago
As it should be. Obama should avoid getting any fingeprints on this story. But that doesn't at all mean that we can't drive this story ahead. Someone get a Megaphone and proclaim that with this story the Blogosphere has fully arrived and has exposed the MSM as the fraud it is.

It is certainly hypocritical of her to say she's opposed to abortion under all circumstances, and it does sound like she offered it to her own daughter. If you google "The Only Moral Abortion is My Abortion," it's an article about how prolifers will get abortions for themselves when they need it while still believing that all the other women in the waiting room are just sluts.

While I at first thought his choice was fiasco (it wasn't even the little Mavericks choice...he wanted Lieberman, but was not ALLOWED to choose him...big maverick this guy...) and a stupid loser attempt at grabbing Hillary supporters that was doomed to fail...I now begin to wonder.

Of all the things we can hammer that old-ass bastard on, all the things he's said and done, we are all turning into the Harper Valley PTA on it, and it is all that is being discussesd. Meanwhile, jackbooted thug police are raiding peaceful protesters in Minnesota, attempting third-world intimidation tactics, in masks and with assault rifles, throwing people on the floor, preemtive arrests, some apparently without warrant (or at least not producing it when demanded)....

I mean, it's fine to go over his screwup here too, but lets keep some perspective too?

Maybe that was the plan. Get us sidetracked, talking about the vice. Dan Quayle wasn't ready to run the country, and never was smart enough...we joked about it, but here it is becoming the center. McCain is old, chance is he could have health problems (he wouldn't have to die, but could be debilitated) or...as we now know Reagan was slipping HARD while still president...did anyone inform the American people? Think they will this time? (I saw video of him being interviewed, where he just froze on the white house lawn, Nancy looking horrified while keeping her game face...Reagen just a blank stare, Nancy stage whispers out of the corner of her mouth "well..that's about all" and it's like a switch went on, Ronny looks up and says the same thing...WHILE he was president!".

So it IS important, but her daughter, the hypocrisy, we need to keep this SIMPLE folks. Get too many things and people turn off. She isn't qualified by a LONG shot.
IF we need to, get Hillart also to say so...that would be the way to go.

    What if? --

If anyone had any lingering doubt the conservative movement is completely hypocritical -- just imagine if conservatives would use the same reasoning they're coming up with today for any of their other "bedrock" issues. It wouldn't happen -- because their "principles" only apply as long as they don't have to live them nor have to defend them when one of their own turns out to be -- um -- human.

    To wit:

Palin says 17-year-old daughter is gay

By LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writer 1 hour, 1 minute ago

ST. PAUL, Minn. - John McCain's running mate Sarah Palin said Monday that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is gay, an announcement campaign aides said was aimed at rebutting Internet rumors that Palin's youngest son, born in April, was actually her daughter's.

A statement released by the campaign said that Bristol Palin will come out of the closet and marry her lesbian lover, like Dick Cheney's lesbian daughter has done. Bristol Palin's lesbian baby is due later.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to marry the person she loves and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in the brief statement.

The disclosure of the Palin's sexuality came on the opening day of the Republican National Convention, scaled back because of Hurricane Gustav, and three days after McCain named Palin as his running mate. Other news was likely to overshadow the disclosure.

"Bristol and the young woman she will marry are going to realize very quickly the challenges of getting married as a same-sex couple, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," they added. The lesbian lover was identified in the statement as "Pat," but the campaign said it was not disclosing her last name or age.

Internet bloggers have been suggesting that Bristol Palin had recently given birth to a child. Palin spokesman Bill McAllister emphatically denied those rumors, and McCain adviser Mark Salter said the campaign announced the daughter's homosexuality to rebut them.

"Senator McCain's view is this is a private family matter. As parents, (the Palins) love their daughter unconditionally and are going to support their daughter," said McCain spokesman Steve Schmidt.

    "Life happens," he said.

    "An American family," added Salter.

The advisers said Palin told them about her daughter's sexuality during lengthy discussions about her background. At several points during the discussions, McCain's team warned Palin that the scrutiny into her private life would be intense and that there was nothing she could do to prepare for it.

Prominent religious conservatives, many of whom have been lukewarm toward McCain's candidacy, predicted that Palin's daughter's homosexuality would not diminish conservative Christian enthusiasm over the vice presidential hopeful.

"I think it's a very private matter," said Roberta Combs, president of the Christian Coalition of America. "It's a matter that should stay in the family and they have to work through it together. My prayers go out to them."

Added Combs: "We're excited about the governor and think she's going to do well."

Mathew Staver, dean of Liberty University School of Law, said: "We're all sinners."

Staver also criticized anyone who would seek to make it a negative campaign issue: "It's absolutely shameful to put her child in the spotlight. She's not running for office. When someone can't face issues, they try to tear down a family."

Where to start? Psycho christian mother with a pregnant, teen daughter, who is gay and want's to marry her girlfriend. The fact she hasn't been stoned to death by now is a miracle.
(When are we going to find out that her brother or father abused her? It;s the only piece left in this puzzle.)

This is not a private family matter because Palin wants to be President and rule over us all with her stupid Bible nonsense. The Christo-fascism made a mess of her own family and now she wants to inflict that same pain on the country as a whole.

Condoms for everyone, STAT! it's only a stop-gap, but it will keep everyone safe for a while. (It certainly would have helped her daughter- TWICE.)

Someone get Sarah Palin a copy of "Juno." There is an alternative to being raised by immature, teenage parents; it's called "adoption."

Sarah could go a long way to showing that she really does value life by counseling her daughter to consider giving her child a better life with mature, loving parents.

There's probably some sort of right wing ethic against this concept.

Palin gave her daughter a choice because she knows she can't keep covering for her daughter forever. Like all hypocritical busy-bodies, Palin knows how to take care of a problem once and for all, while judging the neighbors and telling them she's better and knows better than they do.
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
'Palin knows how to take care of a problem once and for all...'
I meant to add that she Palin would have gotten her daughter an abortion if it was at all possible, then tel the neighbors not to have an abortion.
  • skogie · 1 year ago
    1. Palin is under investigation in her own state. 2. She just had a child with Down syndrome. 3. She has a daughter who is 17 years old having a child out of wedlock. 4. And she wants to be the Vice President of the United States all at the same time. What is wrong with this picture?

Sarahs fifteen minutes of fame are running out. Any bets on how soon Karl Rove has her walk the plank of the Titanic?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Yesterday I gave her three weeks. I am rethinking the time frame. lol
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
why oh why can't we get Rove on the plank. he's the problem.
  • cheetos · 1 year ago
Why are Daily Kos and liberal blogs being blamed for starting rumors? They didn't start them, Alaskans did. Months ago, they were buzzing about the strange circumstances of Sarah's 'surprise' pregnancy, the teen daughter's extended absence from school (Mono?) and Sarah's peculiar rush back to Alaska from Texas to give birth story.

And now today's big announcement. Something really fishy is going on.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Nothing fishy about it. Palin hid all this stuff with the insane idea it wouldn't be an issue or she would deal with it when it blew up in her face.

We can't afford someone with John McSame's judgment.

She's good at oversight...so she said.

The problem is with the person that chose Sarah Palin for VP. Either they didn't vet them (not possible) or they did this to get a three-ring circus.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I think it is very possible that she was not completely vetted. McCain reportedly wanted Leiberman and Rove had a "hissy". So, McCain threw them a curve ball.
  • TomJoad · 1 year ago
So can we put to bed permanently this idiotic "McCain is a Maverick" bullshit then?
I mean, a puppet can't be a Maverick, right? Throwing a curve ball at your handler means you aren't in charge right?

The Palin family is a really conservative Christian family = pill and condom are devil toys and abortion is not acceptable = Teenagers should marry and have lot of kids. Please post up if any of you know comment or praise from Daddy Dobson on how Sarah had focused on her family.

I just saw something typically outrageous and cynical from Dubya this morning. He was being interviewed about Gustav and said the reason this wasn't as bad as Katrina was because of the "governor's office" in Louisiana. WTF? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! Does that liittle imbecile EVER stop with the politics? Uh, a category TWO versus a category FOUR is a BIG BIG difference and the American people aren't THAT STUPID, or at least I hope they aren't. Every time I think that little shit has outdone himself with his inappropriate behavior, he outdoes himself. No responsibility AT ALL from the President... No, he didn't appoint Brownie. In fact, THIS was the governor of Louisiana's fault! GEORGE BUSH AND JOHN MCCAIN parties hard during Katrina:

    while this was occurring:

THERE ARE NO DO-OVERS FOR KATRINA just because this was a weaker storm and didn't strike New Orleans head on!

MSM is disappointed Gustav was only a Cat 2. No Pulitzers this time and no do overs for the Bush Administration.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I predict that Bobby Jindal will make a triumphant appearance at the convention later this week, give a speech and all will bow to his feet in proclaiming that he, in conjunction with Bush and FEMA, saved Louisiana from catastrophic destruction...

I am loving how the conservatives are spinning Palin... "Conservatives love Palin for her common sense like Reagan". hahahahaha
Was that before or after he came down with Alzheimer's?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I am sorry; that was mean.
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
No it wasn't. Reagan had it coming. After all he did allow the sell of weapons to the "Axis of Evil".
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
To be fair, Regan just hated his children. Palin's cover-up is much more juicy.

So, if Bristol is five months pregnant, she will deliver by inauguration day, right? And if, God forbid, SP and JM get elected, the first pictures of the Vice-Presidential family will be with their 17 year old with her new baby in her arms!!!!

No wonder SP looks like Tina Fey, it's the sequel to "Baby Mama"
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
This will somehow end up with the Dems getting the blame, as if they forced Bristol to get pregnant. If the conservatives are okay with this hypocrisy, then they will vote for McCain/Palin. McCain has shown bad judgment, like he does backing Bush's bloody war, and Palin has turned out to be a conservative to supposedly backs abstinence before marriage, but apparently finds it okay that her daughter broke the rules. Perhaps Palin should stay at home, and school her kids about rethuglican family values, and give up the VP slot to a more qualified candidate.

    Isn't Biden a great pick?
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
you mean like John Edwards got her pregnant or something?
  • ClintonHater · 1 year ago
Worse John Edwards and Bill Clinton gang banged Bristol.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I kinda vomited a little when you said that.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
I loved and supported Edwards, but, damn, I am glad he didn't win the primary.

Any woman who calls herself a Big-C christian, and works outside the house is a rank hypocrite. H.Y.P.O.C.R.I.T.E.
Isn?t Palin supposed to be cookin' her man a meal right now (and shouldn't he be gainfully employed full-time)? That's what they tell every other woman to do.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin must be doing something right to be the Republican nominee for Vice President -- one of the highest honors in the world . . . if you're a Republican.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
The highest honor for a Republican being . . . a Fox News anchor?
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Gosh, so much sex in Alaska. But, it is cold up there and the need for coed body warmth often leads to sex. Are we sure Bristol is really five months
pregnant? Maybe less, so it would speak to a pattern of behavior. Any OB/Gyn experts out there? Can one get pregnant the same month they
    give birth?
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
No recent pictures of Bristol? The pictures showing her six months ago sure showed she was pretty pregnant for someone not yet pregnant.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
Why are Democrats afraid of outrage, if this was a Democratic VP pick and the 17 yr old was unmarried and pregnant there would already be ads about family values and teenage sex, the GOP would be outraged 24/7.

This is outrageous that a VP candidate under investigation, connected to Stevens and her motherhood in question is put up as the best VP candidate by the GOP
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Wave buh bye GOP...you have an old fart making fucking idiot decisions starting even before day one. Sarah Palin = idiot decision

It doesn't negate the fact she endangered her preborn by showing bad judgment in flying to Alaska in labor. Had something happened would she have been held responsible for endangerment?
Palin will be a heartbeat from President and has very poor reasoning skills.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
It seems that the timing of this announcement was well timed to be literally drowned out by Gustav. Who knows if it has legs or what will happen in the next news cycle. If Gustav isn't bad, the story may survive. If Gustav is really bad, this story will probably die until she has the baby.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Hey James Dobson and Pat Robertson...this joke is on you, as was Dubbya. Palin is also a joke on all American women. She is qualified to run a PTA but nothing higher. She is symbolic of all that went wrong with the women's movement. This very cruel joke is that McSame is throwing you evangenitals a bone and it won't mean a fucking thing after January 20th....just at Nixon did, Reagan did, Bush 1 did, and Dubbya did. But this time the bone is more than a joke. A woman who is technically pro choice in her own house.

The biggest joke for you clowns. I am rolling on floor laughing my ass off at the joke today.

I think that this young girl deserves her privacy. Too bad her mother placed her family in the limelight, knowing that her daughter would be subjected to the political blow up that has come her way. Obama has asked us to not attack this girl, or anyone in her family. We need to honor his wishes. Palin has plenty to attack as far as her resume and lack of education, let's stick to that and leave her children out of it. There is a good diary on Dailykos that discusses her association with an Alaska separatist group (with youtube video) - now that's something to discuss and demand accountability about!
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Does anyone think that Palin may 'step aside' soon and be replaced? I have a feeling, and I think they might still go the woman route and pick someone really strong and appealing (to undecided women and the Rep base) like Kay Bailey. I'd rather them have her step aside and pick Romney or Lieberman or Pawlenty...I think we'd be better off fighting that in the long run...

    Hmmm....
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
yep. i have the feeling that as their fundie faithful start to turn on her....she will be asked to step down. Of course whe will spin it so it seems like the dems made it necessary because they were picking on her and her daughter and family need her more than America does and they will call on the Mittster to step in.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I was just reading Obama has told the media Palin's daughter's pregnancy is "off limits." Hmmm... I don't know if I agree with that or not. Obama saying it might be okay, but I would have rather him remained silent. This certainly IS a news story when it shows how Republican policies impact Americans. When it has been PROVEN over and over again sex education reduces teen pregnancies and Republicans consistently promote ABSTINENCE EDUCATION and Bristol gets pregnant. It is just ONE MORE EXAMPLE of how their stupidity and bad policy hurts our nation!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Obama doesn't have to address it. It has legs of its own.
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
Obama had no options, he had to condemn it. But just because he can't touch it it doesn't mean others can not. Too bad for the girl, but her mother becoming president would be even worse for all Americans. Think of her as a sacrificial non-virgin. If 4000 troops can have their lives ended for a repug cause one girl's reputation can be trashed to end that cause.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
I find this whole situation absolutely delicious.

So which ticket has family values?

Republican--Mccain leaves disabled wife for trophy sugar momma
Palin and her daughter got pregnant aout of wedlock

Democratic-Obama married to the same woman for 15 years, with two kids. no sign of any affairs...

Joe Biden-Widower who took the oath of office by his critically ill children's bedside after losing a wife and daughter.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmm
