AMERICAblog: Palin lied about visiting Ireland as part of her foreign policy experience

  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin's foreign policy stands have been molded by her Talibangelical church:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/02/palins...

God forbid, she continue to join "Focus on the Family" in praying for rain in the United States to destroy Obama's chances. How many HURRICANES are going to hit the U.S. because Talibangelicals prayed for rain??? LOL

    Lets see:

    Gustav
    Hannah
    Ike
    Josephine

    Next?

Have any of the vetters attended her church in Alaska? That might be a goldmine of insanity.

  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
As I posted four days ago about what her international diplomatic experience in Canada might be:
Has she even been outside of the USA, other than driving through British Columbia to get to the lower 48?
"What foreign capitals have you been to Governor? Well, uh, I've been to Spuzzum, Pouce Coupe, Yaak, Skookumchuck, and Horsefly British Columbia, Canada, all those big international capitals. Yeah, that Pouce Coupe is so citified that you can't even drive your ski doo on the street."
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I certainly hope John McSame doesn't interrupt hurricane preparations for Hannah. Republicans ALL prayed for rain and got it. Now Republicans need to adjust the convention accordingly for praying against their fellow Americans. McCain needs to reschedule his speech since a Hurricane will be right off the coast of Florida while he speaks unless, of course, John McCain doesn't care about the people of Florida.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Again, since Sarah Palin considers Alaska her own "country" she thinks "foreign policy" was any kind of interfacing she has done with the lower 48 states. Outrageous? Yes, but Republicans aren't known for their GOOD JUDGMENT!
  • ADLEED · 1 year ago
Lied? Maybe the question should be when does she tell the truth? Have yet to here anything solid about this one.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Seems she's lied about quite a few things.....and those are only the lies we know about.

    On a happy note:
Gallup Daily: Obama Hits 50% for First Time
Leads McCain by eight percentage points, 50% to 42%

    wooooooooooo hooooooooooooo !!!

    Palin visited Canada too

What was that, another stopover on her way down to the contiguous 48?
  • CelticWarrior72 · 1 year ago
Irish insight - I am very familiar with the Irish refueling stopover for US diplomatic and military planes. It is conducted at Shannon airport on the West coast of Ireland. I have regularly seen US military personnel waiting to board their flight back to the USA. When they enter the terminal (which is very small by US standards) they are confined to the area past the security desks. There they have access to a few small duty free stores and fast food outlets. They do NOT show their passports to anyone. It is strictly a transit stop. Kind of like getting out to take a pee in Gary, Indiana if you were on a Greyhound bus.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    And the Rasmussen Poll:

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Barack Obama attracting 48% of the vote while John McCain earns 43%. When "leaners" are included, it’s Obama 51%, McCain 45%
This is the highest level of support enjoyed by Obama at any point in Election 2008

rove is glad he isn't back in the schoolyard... you know his shorts went up the flagpole once or twice.

he seems like the kind of kid who would've brought a briefcase to the third grade... he probably got beaten up a lot.

now he takes it out on the whole country... sorta "who's the bully now? huh??"

Palin is the she-Cheney. And is this her "Bosnia" moment?
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
Isn't Ireland right next to Alaska?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
she saw the Blarney Stone in a duty free shop and kissed it... does that count?
  • fostert · 1 year ago
So layovers count now? I've spent more time in international transit terminals than Palin has spent outside of the country. Hell, I've spent more time in the Dubai airport than she's spent in the Middle East. I've probably met more Kuwaitis and I've never been to Kuwait.
  • barbarajmay · 1 year ago
Has it dawned on anyone that, because of this collossal fuck up, we are so much more likely to get President Obama? Aside from the fact that this story is a riot, and it feels like reading the Enquirer, it is the biggest gift McSame could every have given to the the Democrats. Talk about feeling hopeful....

it now appears Palin also wanted to purge the library of books which had inappropriate language in them.

[Former Wasilla mayor John Stein] says that as mayor, Palin continued to inject religious beliefs into her policy at times. "She asked the library how she could go about banning books," he says, because some voters thought they had inappropriate language in them. "The librarian was aghast." The librarian, Mary Ellen Baker, couldn't be reached for comment, but news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire her for not giving "full support" to the mayor.

    http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,183791...

When Palin, who went on to win re-election by a landslide, was forced out of the Mayor's office by term limits in 2002, her husband Todd's stepmother Faye Palin ran for mayor. She did not, however, get Sarah Palin's endorsement. A couple of people told me that they thought abortion was the reason for Palin not supporting her family member — Faye, they say, is pro-choice, not to mention a Democrat. A former city council member recalls that it was a heated race, mainly because of right-to-life issues: "People were writing BABYKILLER on Faye's campaign signs just a few days before the election." Faye Palin lost the race to the candidate that Sarah backed, Dianne Keller, who is still mayor of Wasilla. (Over the weekend, Faye Palin told the New York Daily News that she liked listening to Barack Obama speak and that she wasn't sure who she would vote for in November.

What a friend she wouldn't even support her own mother in law to replace her. Watch out Cindy, she will be showing Johnny Mack the Alaska Whirlybird the next time you turn your back.

Neither George Bush nor Palin visited another country until they were middle aged. She didn't even have a passport until last year.
What's the deal? It's not like they couldn't afford to travel. No curiosity? Sense of adventure? I can't imagine. I just love to travel, have been to lots of countries and can't understand feeling indifferent about discovering different parts of the world. (Just got back from Australia in fact!)

At noon today, I watched a repeat of last night's Charlie Rose. Guests were Croaky Roberts (total McCain fan), Al Hunt, Doris Kerns Goodwin, Mark Halperin, Charlie Cook (the pollster), Ed Rollins and a couple of Rethug operators. Except for Al Hunt and Cook, they all seemed blissfully unaware of most of what we've been talking about since last Friday night. And Cook and Hunt were not as well informed as we are. Halperin actually seems concerned. Very interesting.

    Palin's travels

Sarah Palin's abrupt appearance on the national stage sparked an enormous array of questions, one of which is: Has she ever traveled abroad?

I asked her new spokeswoman, Maria Comella, who noted that Palin visited Germany and Kuwait in 2007 to visit Alaska National Guard troops.

Comella said she'd also visited one other country: Ireland.
  • xen · 1 year ago
I am frankly shocked that so little vetting was done for Palin while maintaining she was carefully researched. If random bloggers are doing better than your political party, you are failing your country. This isn't a bloody game of oneupsmanship, this is deciding who would be in control of one of the most powerful nations on earth and, gods willing, get it back on its feet.

Did any of you here the ridiculousness that Palin had experience with international relations because Alaska is very close to Russia? I swear, I'm not making this up.

I've been following the Babygate scandal at http://www.xenex.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1... too
