AMERICAblog: Palin misquotes her Starbucks cup; Madeline Albright explains the real quote to Palin

  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Sarah Six-Pac is not competent for high office.

    Period.
  • monkeybecca · 1 year ago
And you think Obama is? I cannot wait until Mccain and Palin are in the white house! Listen to Rush, you can learn alot!
  • butchcjg · 1 year ago
If one of the Obama's quoted from a Starbucks cup, they would be called Elitists...it'd be the equivalent of arugula. (Which really gets my goat - as if middle class people don't eat healthy foods). Somehow folksy Sarah with a 1.1M house and an airplane and private lake can get away with quoting Starbucks, all because she has a twang??
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Exactly. McCain left one of his 10 homes, went to Starbucks with a 10-car entourage, ordered the most expensive drink there, and he was called folksy.
Obama could drive a beat up jalopy to Starbucks, get the cheapest drink there, and the media call him elitist.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Well, at least this finally answers Katie Couric's question about what Sarah Palin reads. She reads Starbucks cups.
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
    HAHAHAHA Perfect.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
SP is a total latte-drinkin' elitist. Real, normal Joe Sixpacks get coffee at the Dunkster or Mickey Dees.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
Starbucks cups (and teleprompters and color-coded Q-cards)...
  • grandma · 1 year ago
“Now she said it, I didn’t,” Palin said of Albright. “She said, ‘There’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t support other women.’”

The crowd roared its approval, but according to several sources, Albright actually said, “there’s a place in Hell reserved for women who don’t help other women.”

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/10/05/palin-...

oops...my bad....Joe has the above posted......my fault trying to watch the end of the Packer game at the same time.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Gee Grandma, which publication do you suppose is carrying the McCain campaign water? Does the twerp that "covered" the "story" for CBS think all he owes his readers is "straight from the campaign" sound bites? No follow up with a response from Albright, no fact checking on the quote? No follow up on the "Obama runs with terrorists" bullshit?

Which just goes to prove the point I've been making all along... The "mainstream" media is acting as a propaganda arm of the GOP.
  • Fireblazes(cheetohsandcatfood) · 1 year ago
She kept misquoting her magic 8 ball at the debates. The worse thing is she probably spilled her coffee when she turned it sideways to read the quote.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Madeline Albright is one of the few things Clinton got right.

Ms. Palin is wrong again of course.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
"Hi! Can I call you Madeleine?" SP refers Albright as "Madeleine" to the yahoo crowd, who boo Albright (stupid rednecks from that armpit of the LA Basin, Carson). As my great-granny used to say: "Tain't fittin."
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
Gee I wonder how many of us hillbillies she claims to connect with ever set foot in Starbucks anymore, let alone can afford to pay that much for coffee.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I call on Starbucks to repudiate Sarah Palin.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I call on Starbuck's to quit using powdered milk containing melamine from China in their $500 per barrel coffee.
  • artisticfreedom · 1 year ago
Her response is too long for Palin. She'd lose interest somewhere after the first sentance.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
She should have shortened it to: "STFU Ms. Palin! You have absolutely NO IDEA what you're talking about!"
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Yes. Sarah works at the phrase level.
  • Subroutine · 1 year ago
Wow! “Women must support women.” I guess Palin is a Starbucks drinkin’, New York Times Readin’, Feminazi elitist. What will Rash Speedball say?
  • Rab · 1 year ago
I call on America to tell Palin to shut her cake hole.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Naw, she needs to keep yapping... turning off voters by the truckload.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
    Pretty good article:

"By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - By claiming that Democrat Barack Obama is "palling around with terrorists" and doesn't see the U.S. like other Americans, vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin targeted key goals for a faltering campaign.

And though she may have scored a political hit each time, her attack was unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret." ...

Finally, the AP is being fair! I guess, maybe, they've decided if they don't start being fair they might just have a very reticent administration that will be willing to talk to reporters representing the AP. Its about damned time the AP reports things fairly.

NOTE TO DEMOCRATIC STRATEGISTS: If you are on teevee and some Nazi Republican thug starts screaming "Rezko" and "Ayers" don't get defensive. GET OFFENSIVE and start screaming KEATING FIVE and lack of family values by McCain. Make fun of McCain sleeping around. Also tell voters McCain is old, tired and LYING!
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Now in Ms. Palin's defense... she does get her orders and talking points from the McCain Brain Trust... they sent her out with that "quote" probably thinking that there wouldn't be a response / or correction from Ms. Albright... they probably think she's dead...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
She's not dead? How did Rove screw that up?...
  • sherifffruitfly · 1 year ago
Do they ever say anything they DON'T get pwned on?
  • katiec · 1 year ago
Why in the world believe anything Palin says??
    She is a cronic LIAR!!
How pathetic that the republicans have stooped to the
    level they have.
    Course, that is the republicans.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
NOTE TO DEMOCRATIC STRATEGISTS ON TEEVEE:

When Republicans start smearing Obama start screaming "stop swiftboating Obama and get back to the topic at hand! Then start yelling KEATING FIVE every time they shout "Rezko" or "Ayers" Bloody their damned nose and don't stop! Don't answer their ridiculous charges just say they are LYING and THEY KNOW IT! I just saw one Democratic Analyst try to answer a Republican on MSNBC and he was playing like it was 2004. He started sputtering around. UNACCEPTABLE! Get back in their face and GO ON OFFENSE. Put THEM on the defensive where they belong!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
I agree...I saw that too....don't know his name...but Ron Christie was totally lying.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Yea, I think it was the same Democratic analyst I saw later who reacted in the same way. Didn't get offensive enough for me. He was too defensive. Democratic analysts should know better than to act like that swiftboating crap should make them sputter defensively! They way to win that kind of swiftboat attack is to call it what it is and then hit them back with an equally offensive jab like Keating Five. Put them on defense where THEY belong!
  • exhack · 1 year ago
Yeah, that one McCain shill who looks like Carly Fiorina (Pfotenhauer) gives me that reaction. I only had to watch her once to want to punch her in the face. The question didn't matter, the answer was the same: she smirked, showed off some whitened teeth, and talked about whatever the spin was for the day. I know how the game is played, but these people are taking it to a new low level in the subbasement. They aren't answering with substance because they've got no substance to answer with. They're selling an '82 Cavalier with a cracked radiator, bad head gasket, bald tires, and a slipping tranny, and trying to find some moron who'll think it's a Rolls. In a way it's hard to blame them, though, because they usually get away with it.

  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Cowboy, you can't respond unless you have something substantive. Talk is cheap. Your party, some of whose ideas I think are ok; is short on substance and long on rhetoric....
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
You're projecting and talking about yourself and your party again, Busboy. Obama is going to be your next President. Get used to it.
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Doesn't matter to me. I can grow veggies and shoot deer and rabbits. It's the cities that go crazy when the electricity goes off....
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Well, something tells me it WOULD matter to you, Busboy. Read over what you've written though. You're rambling again. Trying to follow your non-sequitor train of thought is like trying to understand Gramps McCain!
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
I'm getting old, cowboy. Maybe I don't make sense sometimes. Had to live off the land when I was young. You don't forget how to do that.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Oh, now you tell us! Well, at least you are being honest about your age and it all makes sense now. I can see how an old man like John McCain would be attractive to an old man like yourself. Just remember, McCain is as confused as you and doesn't make a lot of sense sometimes either! Being President of the United States is a job for someone who can make sense. Voting for President also requires all your mental faculties. I'm sorry you feel like you are getting too confused to make good decisions. If you think you're going to have to live off the land due to your unflagging support for Republican policies, maybe you should just let the young folks vote in Obama this time around?
  • Eclectablog · 1 year ago
But, but, Palin gets guys hard. She does. Starbursts and stuff.

I took a picture of a "McCain" yard sign yesterday that will give you a grin:

" Palin will say anything, even if it's patently false or blatantly wrong."

    She and McSame are bookends.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
This is just too cool! I just participated in this neighbor to neighbor program and talked an Ohio voter into registering for early voting:

    http://my.barackobama.com/page/votercontact/log...

Wow, I'm helping to win Ohio from Oklahoma!
  • grandma · 1 year ago
    Good going !!!!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Wow, I'm impressed with that campaign tool. It gives you a list of Ohio voters to call, you record your call on a form and submit it. Its great, and fun.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
    Clearly, Cowboy rocks.
  • allthesame · 1 year ago
I wouldn't be so confident. I live in Ohio and there is a strong McCain/Palin presence in a large number of suburban and rural areas.
  • triple7s · 1 year ago
When is it going to be the right time for the dem machine to start ACTUALLY talking about McCain and his involvement with Keating, his wife's CONVICTION of drug charges stemming from starting a CHILDREN'S HEALTH CHARITY, in order to get high, and how about THE FACTS surrounding the adulterous affair, and DUMPING of his first family. If he would do that to his family, why should anyone believe he would care about the COUNTRY? It is time someone put these FACTS into WORDS, NOW not on Nov 5th. We know how low these people will go, and the truth need not be involved.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Yes, if a more attractive offer comes along who is to say Mc$ame won't dump us for something more attractive like he did his first wife, Carol?
  • Subroutine · 1 year ago
Let’s be honest. McCain took $112,000 in bribes (he called them contributions) as well as nine FREE vacations on Charles Keating’s private jet to Keating’s opulent Bahamas retreat. He took his wife Cindy and of course his baby-sitter along on these excursions.

McCain attended meetings to dissuade federal regulators from investigating Keating’s bank, Lincoln Savings. Later, Lincoln Savings went belly-up, taking the life savings of over 21,000 elderly depositors and it cost the taxpayers $2 billion. A big round of applause to John McCain.

    He’d make a great cell-mate for O.J.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
    Lets KEEP THEM ON DEFENSIVE!
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Ummm, and NO ONE really knows what benefits he got through his wife's real estate deal(s) with Keating ... but it was apparently enough of a concern during the investigation that she became addicted to pills....
  • iWoman · 1 year ago
    This pisses me off.

So is Palin wondering if there is a place in Hell reserved for her? Because I don't see anything in her policies that help or support women.
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
How funny that McCain can't get out of the stupid mistake he made when he selected her.
  • percol8r · 1 year ago
Funny. I would have thought she frequented Caribou Coffee.
  • kabiddle · 1 year ago
There is a special place in "unanticipated events" for Ms. Palin. So many women who have not experienced an assault of this kind prefer to act out in their mind how they would confront an attacker and be victorious. Women who have experienced it go over and over again in their mind about how they would do it differently and then have some control over their life. Persons who negate that this kind of thing happened to anyone are deniers and idiots. Ms. Palin is an idiot.
  • Raine · 1 year ago
b-b-b-b I thought Elitists were the ones who drank that Fancy schmancy Starbucks?

Funny I don't know too many people who can even aford starbucks anymore... I wonder what Joe Six pack thinks of her drinking that liberal latte stuff.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
That's ok, she just made up a Thomas Jefferson quote earlier this week, so I guess she thinks distorting quotes is a lesser crime.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
And the Reagan quote was ripped out of context for the end of her bullshit debate performance.
  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
I guess Palin was trying to tell the crowd that she herself was going to Hell for charging other women for rape kits.
  • rickster · 1 year ago
And she calls herself a christian. What a joke.
  • jebauer · 1 year ago
Hey how 'bout that.... I can't stand Charbucks coffee and I can't stand Sarah Palin.... yet another couple reasons to vote Democratic.

    How elitist of her!

Palin's behavior in this campaign will hurt women in politics for years to come. She is the ultimate bimbo. Although she claims to be a maverick, in reality she is nothing more than a political slave for John McCain.

Since she accepted the nomination, McCain has sequestered her from the press because he believes she is incapable of answering questions. When she is given permission to answer questions, she is so nervous about saying the wrong words that she comes across as a brainless fool.

Palin is no maverick, she is a naive, foolish woman who loves the idea of being the Vice President candidate. She has tossed aside her pride and allowed herself to be a joke not only to Americans but worldwide.

As a woman, I would never support McCain. His joke about Chelsea Clinton (at age 13) in front of a large audience saying Chelsea is ugly because her father is Janet Reno. It was a cruel, sophmoric, hateful remark from an idiot who has no respect for women. McCain is known for his sexist jokes--he enjoys telling rape against women jokes (found on an internet search) and his handling of Palin is just more proof of how sexist he really is.
