According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

So what does it say about the American voter?
1. Yes, their expectations and standards are LOW, when it comes to their leaders.
2. They can never learn from past mistakes - they voted for Bush because they wanted to have a beer with him, not because of his intelligence, and good policies. Never mind, that he was an oil man. Al Gore was "stiff" and he sighed at the debates ' never mind, that he wanted to continue the successful policies of Bill Clinton. They wanted a breath of fresh air, that they were delusional enough to think that Bush brought, and now got an awful stench coming from the present WH.
3. Right now, they can see the havoc caused by Bush/Cheney policies, and yet they seem to WANT to continue these policies by supporting a man, who has voted 90 percent of the time with Bush. The term idiots come to mind, but that seems to understate the whole situation. Why are these people gluttons for punishment? They were wrong about voting for Bush/Cheney TWICE. They were WRONG about supporting Bush and Cheney's bloody war, and they still cannot get it? If they are unhappy with the way the country is heading, why vote to continue the downward slide?
4. When will they realize that doing the same thing, again, and again, will NOT change the end result?
5.They made the wrong judgment when it came to voting for Bush vs. Gore, and if they think that McCain/Palin will bring back the jobs, the badly needed healthcare in the country, better education, no unnecessary wars, more respect in world, more unity in this fractured country, help for the majority, and not only the wealthy, among other things, then they will be horribly WRONG again, and show bad judgment once more.

Sage, while what you state above is mostly true, but it is true for a smaller number of voters than anyone really knows.
What your list fails to ask is where the majority of Americans get their information from, (my guess on that is from the TV gasbags, and the "literature" that floods their mail and email every election cycle.
When the majority of that information is intentionally misleading and empty rhetoric passed off as "insider information" or some such nonsense and gleefully passed off as "factual news" by so--called "respected journalists", what do you expect to happen?
What we have going on in this country is a massive failure of our "free press" to attempt to inform the public. This has been going on for the several decades (more so the last eight years)... this failure has been attributed to the "quest for ratings and a bigger piece of the money pie", the "short attention span of the viewer", the "nature of the 24 hour cable news cycle", ect. and those are quick and easily swallowed explanations, but they don't address the fundamental failure of the press to report on issues of local and national importance that are ignored. And they don't explain the cheerleading the media did to "facilitate" the invasion of Iraq or the fact that they ignore and fail to give voice to the millions of people who disagree with the current administration and it's policies.
What does explain the above, and has been publically admitted, but quickly swept under the rug is the fact that this administration has spent buttloads of taxpayer money to spread propaganda within the US. A few low-level players (Armstrong Williams) got busted for their part in the scheme, but a full accounting was never made of who participated -- and no follow up from the media (can you really expect them to out themselves?) on if this is still going on...
Another piece to this, besides the "media" is the election process itself.... if you've never been to the BradBlog, do yourself a favor and take a look. He's been covering everything election related for the last 4+ years... you can't expect a "change in voters attitudes" if the vote doesn't reflect the will of the people.

In this news cycle, we have Republicans calling for the "God of the Bible in our public schools".
Republican Congressmen confirming that yes, "Uppity" describes Obama. We have Republicans in the news displaying all manner of hypocrisy and lies fresh from a convention for all the world to see.
And we have a upstart Republican V.P. who has the confidence to raise her best moose gutting middle finger to the press and not answer even the most basic questions about her political agenda, philosophy of governance or why her own personal house is so completely dysfunctional.
When will WE on the Left realize that less than 60 days from this election... The Republicans are not afraid? They're acting like they are going to win the White House - Never again to held accountable for the last 8 years of destruction, deceit and failure.

In that crowd, being called a "skilled politician" is an insult. The more we can take the mantle of sainted mother away from her, and show her to be a skilled politician, the better.
BTW, it appears that the Pallinites are getting to the point where they are suggesting that prayers be made to send McCain "home to Jesus" so that Sister Sarah can ascend....
I have never heard that being used as an insult in any political context EVER!!!! And I can say, I'm pretty well versed in political jargon. Plus do you really think Obama is gonna use SKILLED POLITICIAN as a JAB against her when there are so many others he can use?? How do you get insult out of this:

And you can be as well-versed as you want to be. I know from stupid people, and stupid people think all politicians are bad, and all mothers are good. It's lowest common denominator campaigning.
But, of course, the people who really like her will continue to like her and - being conservatives themselves - will think she's a victim (They love being victims. The entire American conservative movement is based on being a victim)
