I read KagroX's post yesterday and wondered why nobody was talking about this. I found it outrageous. Glad to see you covering it. Time for a PAC to step up and do an ad on this and blanket Florida with it.

I don't know. Reading that over a few times, it seems more complementary to the Israelites than disparaging. "...if you look at the Israelites, that's how they work" comes right after the part saying that believers should be running the economics of nations. It seems like he is saying that Jewish believers in Israel are running their economy, and Christian believers should do likewise in their nations.

Is anybody else anxiously awaiting the details of this bailout that has supposedly been hammered out? I am extremely interested in the details explaining how it will be paid for. Do you think it will be a tax increase on only the highest tax brackets or will everybody get tax increases to a degree? Yup, can't wait to hear the details of how this plan will be funded.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
this is congresses proposal to wall street... wall street doesn't have to take it as is... I'm betting the "final details" of the bailout will be less favorable to the taxpayer and more favorable to wall street than the current congressional proposal .. and we may not be made aware of the details until much later...
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I was being a little snarky but yeah, I pretty much agree with you. I also realize that selling $700 billion+ in treasury bonds is how it will be "paid" for. Inflation and unemployment will follow. It's going to get really ugly for the average American.

It appears old man McCain's only chance at the White House depends upon the cowardice and coruption of the worthless Congressional democrats.

McCain will vote no and if this trillion dollar give away of taxpayer dollars to wealth passes, it will solidify the obvious, namely, that the dems only know one solution to every problem and that is more government and more spent taxpayer dollars. This never ending democrat stupidity so prone to fear, "yes Mr. Bush", and reckless unlimitted spending on a problem the government cannnot and will not fix will catapult a clearly unqualified McCain into the White House imho

Why, because the public does not want the bailout, as they know a hurry up and rush scam if they have ever seen one. The timing of this bailout was staged, even though the crisis is real.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
only one problem there... it won't pass without repugnican support.

how does that make mcsame look?

even a maverick has to work with congress... and if BOTH sides hate him, what does that say about his being able to accomplish anything as a President?
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Many many repubs will provide him cover primarily because it gets them re-elected. If any repub outside the state of NY votes yes they are in deep shit if they want to maintain their seat as the bailout has little or no support in the netherlands where repub voters are found in large numbers. In fact many conservos fiercly oppose this pos.
  • dmdeshotels · 1 year ago
More people need to listen to Newt Gingrich. He's actually figured this scam out and he should be testifying before congress to set them on the right path. To bad they'll never suck it up and listen to someone who can point our government in the right direction. Bush was pressured and so were congress; to hurry, hurry, and pass this plan. Any time someone tries to sell me something fast (and it is usually someone on Wall Street, i.e. Mr Paulson!), flags go up and my gut tells me to stay away!
I agree with you on the stupidity of democrats and their never ending growth of government. Time will only tell whether the push by the Republicans to re-write this huge socialist plan will help save our economy or sink the weakest banks and investment groups. Who's unqualified to lead this country? You have Obama and you have McCain.... Now who's unqualified? If you're talking about socializing America, then I guess McCain is unqualified. Thank God For That!

I'm old school America. Sorry, I like capitalism and a free market. We need a small amount of socialism just to care for those in our country who can not care for themselves. Everyone else has the same opportunity to go as far as they want to go. Let's face it; some of us strive for more. Some of us don't. It is a free country to choose to do nothing or to work as hard as you want to go as far up in society as you wish to go. Just because some of our population do not have the same drive or ambition as other people in our country, does not mean that the ambitious people in our country should have to take care of those who do not give a sh....

This is where Mr Obama and I part ways. He actually believes that those who work hard owe it to those who do not work. Why is this? In fact, this is how Obama explains his reason for tax increases.... because it is the only fair thing to do. MAYBE IN RUSSIA or CUBA!! Not in the Free USA!

McCain will fight for the free market society as we know it and this gives the majority of people who love America, the freedom and the chances in life that so many people around the world love about our country. You have to vote YES for capitalism (McCain), and vote No to Socialism (Obama).
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Fuck Newt. In all his conservo bullshit he stated he would vote for this facist turd of a bailout. Whatever idealogical credibility he had was lost when he said he would vote for the bailout.

Simply put, Newt is a bloated whore lobbyist. Look at his fat lard ass and tell me he knows how to guide anyone away from excess. A good chance his pig heart explodes before he testifies.

I hate to dash your 90s dreams, but your your saviour is a corrupt porcine fucking fraud!

  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    one thing to think about...

just the talk of the bailout becoming a reality has the DOW jumping up 230 points.

    everything changes on speculation.

given that, which candidate do you think would create a surge in the DOW... and which would make it drop?

Also, factor in that the majority of Americans polled think that Obama will be better for the economy than mcsame.

same old policy vs new direction.

At some point, Sarah is going to wish she had stayed in her safe world in Alaska. Given her exposure, I'm not going to take McCain's phone call.
  • amensister · 1 year ago
From the look in Palin's eyes during the Couric interview, I almost could see, "Please, someone, anyone, take me back to Alaska."

She did NOT look confident, she did NOT look like she knew what she was saying, and, finally, she did NOT look like presidential material. We send the best of the best to the Olympics, yet we (or should I say "they") pick a mediocre (if that) VP nominee.

Remember, it was the R's that kept saying, "this is not the time for on-the-job training...."

People are getting all excited about how the press if finally 'standing up' to McSame. Really grilling Palin. Yeah, right. Can you imagine if it was Obama in this video, and his preacher talking about the Jews like this? GAME OVER. period.

Where in the Bible does it say we should have Christian businessmen? Jesus drove the moneychangers out of the temple. It was not because they weren't religious enough, but because they were distracting from God's word. When his Disciples asked if they should pay taxes, he told them to render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's. He didn't tell them to protest that they were being taxed too much. Churches should concentrate on God's work, not taking over control of the world.

and there is that time Jesus told the Rich guy to sell and give away everything and follow him if he was to be Saved. Also something about a Camel going through a Eye of a Needle. Also I saw another clip were Palin is talking about this guy and the voice she uses to sound like him sounds more like Linda Blair's Demons voice from the "Exorcist".

Jesus told the "Rich Man" to get rid of his wealth and follow him. The 'Rich Man" left disatisfied. Typical Republican.

Expect this: Palin's preacher may hate Jews (who haven't converted to Christianity), but Obama's preacher hates AMERICA!
  • MrsTarquinBiscuitbarrel · 1 year ago
I assume, Madame, that you are white? That you've never been pulled over for "driving while black"? Or any of your children?

Obama has said that he doesn't agree with everything his pastor has said. He wasn't standing front and center receiving the laying on
of hands while a man inveighed against non-Christian businesspeople...

So why do so many Jewish people still vote for the repugs? There's only one reason I can figure.
  • feckineejit · 1 year ago
because they BOTH hate the muslims
  • scd · 1 year ago
They don't--most Jews (87%) vote for democrats. Historically the American Jewish community has always been progressive, and Jews were in the forefront of the civil rights movement in the 60s.
  • scpayne · 1 year ago
What nonsense. Are you guys really that logically impaired or are you intentionally distorting what was said? Nobody said there was a problem with Jews running anything. Whether you agree with the pastor or not, what he said was God wants Christians with integrity running businesses and that is what the Israelites did and are doing. This isn't a condemnation of Jews or Jews in business, he gives them as an example of people of faith WITH INTEGRITY doing what God called them to do. Only a religious bigot would try and twist his words into something anti-semetic.
  • feckineejit · 1 year ago
Don't kid yourself, if Obamas preacher said the same thing we would hear about it ad nauseum from the news networks how he hates the jews etc etc.
  • mcanon · 1 year ago
I have to agree. I didn't interpret his words as the article does at all. I see this kind of misinformation every day in politics... most often from the conservative side. It pains me when articles of opposition pull the same shenanigans.
Either way, I think most of what he said was wrong. We don't need to have Christians running businesses or handling finances. Faith has absolutely ZERO to do with business qualifications. The implication is ridiculous. Just about all high-level politician is Christian... in most areas it's practically a requirement even for consideration. And yet I don't think anyone will argue that we still have corruption and failure. That comes with humanity, not with belief. No, we don't don't need Christians, or Jews, or Israelites running businesses. We just need good businessmen, even if they believe in The Great Spaghetti Monster.
  • hellenist · 1 year ago
Forget logically impaired. Where were you idiots when they taught the lesson on context? The sentences prior to the ones you find SO offensive (the ones the the previous writer was correct in noting does NOT contain the word "Jew"), actually are describing the Israelites AS WELL as the Christians) i.e. The Israelites have integrity as well. Only the most english impaired reader would construe it otherwise.
  • durran · 9 months ago
the logically impaired is over, if they are saying that they are the people of GOD, evrything in this universe would have been good, but things are twisted from the wrong angle and they have never been in the civil right movement and the MUSLIMS will never and ever be friends to the jews.
    this is huge
  • markhope · 5 months ago
The truth is that there is no such thing as Judeo-Christianity. That would be like saying Satanic-Christianity. The religion now called Judaism did not even come formally into existence until six hundred years after Jesus Christ. It began with the codification of the Babylonian Talmud. In Judaism, the Talmud is the supreme scripture, not the Old Testament. Only Satanism can rival Judaism’s vicious hatred for Jesus Christ. The Talmud even claims that Jesus Christ is being punished in hell by “being boiled in hot semen!”1

When I first read this hateful Talmudic quote, I just couldn’t believe it. Maybe you don’t believe what I am saying right now, but read on and I will prove to you that this quotation is accurate and that Judaism is intrinsically and viciously anti-Christian. Judaism it the embodiment of the same Satanic tradition that Christ condemned when He referred to “the synagogue of Satan.” (Rev. 2-9) What I say here I can prove in the documented words of the most sacred texts of Judaism and in the clearly documented words of the highest authorities of Judaism itself, and even more importantly, in the scriptures of the New Testament.

Interestingly enough, Islam is much closer to Christianity than Judaism. For instance, Judaism condemns the Virgin Mary as a prostitute and viciously condemns Jesus an evil sorcerer and a bastard. The Talmud even claims Jesus was a sexual pervert who had intercourse relations with his donkey. In stark contrast, although Islam certainly does not share all the Christian views of Jesus Christ, it views Christ as a true prophet of God, virgin-born, and that God resurrected Jesus from the dead. Ironically, the chief religious book of Islam, the Qur’an, actually defends Jesus Christ from the obscene slanders made against Him in the Jewish Talmud.
Dr. Shahak from Israel who is teacher in Hebrew University, Jerusalem also exposes the vicious hatred against Christians taught to Jewish Children in Israel:

Jewish children are actually taught - passages such as that which commands every Jew, whenever passing near a cemetery, to utter a blessing if it is Jewish, but to curse the mothers of the dead if it is non-Jewish. . . it became customary to spit (usually three times) upon seeing a church or a crucifix …9

Imagine for a moment if Christians were taught that when they pass Jewish cemeteries they should “curse the mothers of the dead” and that they should spit three times when seeing a synagogue or a Star of David. Would not the media react to that kind of vicious hatred with outrage? Evangelical leaders such as Falwell would forcefully condemn Christians who would utter such vile curses against Jews, but why don’t they dare condemn the hatred of Jews who utter vile curses against Christians.
