john, no margin of error on this one, run with it
  • Lolis · 1 year ago
It's actually great for us that McCain keeps pretending Palin was vetted. It makes him look like an even bigger idiot.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
This would be a good time for them to prove they hate Health care coverage.

After all, Alaskans just have the right to pay for these births, not know about them.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Was the daughter tested for disease?
  • IAmATVJunkie · 1 year ago
I would hate to assume that Bristol Palin learned everything she needed to know about sex from her abstinence-only program at her church, but you gotta imagine that was the case, huh?

    Abstinence-only education doesn't work.

Wrote all about it at my blog:

    http://iamatvjunkie.typepad.com/i_am_a_tv_junki...

And, there's an interesting comparison to the Spears family there, too.

Gee, the Palins are doing everything they can to be celebrities -- pregnant, unmarried, and running for office.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
    Name the baby "Flop"!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
this says Dobson et al vetted Palin...think about that.

if so, either Dobson is lying or Palin is. Either way, un. be. lievable.

Even Paris Hilton didn't get pregnant. McCain has more respect for her.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Maybe the baby is a former POW.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Republican Governors just expect to hide pregnancies?

How weird that they'd make the residents pay for the secret deliveries.

What would the Republicans say if John Edwards had a baby out of wedlock?

My heart goes out to Bristol... but, you know, if I were a Hollywood producer, I'd be looking to secure the rights for a Movie of the Week.

    Oh wait. Jane Hamsher?
  • pcvirginiabeach · 1 year ago
John- Given that Palin is on record stating that she would not support an abortion for her underage daughter "even if she was raped" one has to ask- was this young woman given any choice at all?

"Do you expect any bastard children in the near future"?

I'm sure that wasn't on the application Dobson approved.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
you'd think the msm would be interested in the fact that McCain left the vetting to a group of extreme evangelicals...The Council for National Policy...

Let's not forget that this reflects badly on McPain's poor judgment, and that he seems way over his head when dealing with a simple matter, like choosing his VP. Is this how he will be as Commander in Chief? Will he be overlooking crucial matters that he cannot wrap his mind around? This is a poorly conducted and researched choice for VP. With all the more solid, qualified, candidates, McCain tries to be too clever, and reaches out for this under qualified, rookie, who cannot keep her own family from staying to what they preach about - family values.

    Heckava job Johnny boy.
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
Seriously, do you think they would have allowed that People's mag photo (taken less then a week ago) if they knew? That photo looked pretty silly before, now it's damn creepy.

What's the big f___ing problem, just f___ing tell the truth!

Why hide it. So what. You know the right wing nut cases, meaning Dodson, Warren, Pat R., and other nut cases will have your back. Only the religious right have the key to God.

Palin and McCain can't go around this, they need to tell the truth and confront it head on.

These are the people you want close to the button. Heaven help us.
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
And this is the child. who was raised by the woman... who John McCain Has picked to be a heart-beat away from the office of President!

    BAD CHOOSE!

    BAD JUDGMENT!

AND BAD LUCK FOR JOHN McCAIN!

Does America really want this kind of judgment any where close to the levers of power... I don't think so!

Who needs Palin the most, the United States VP's office or her CHILDREN?

Sarah Palin has an 18 yr old going off to war, a 17 year old unmarried and 5 mos pregnant and a 5 month old baby with Downs Syndrome and we don't even know about the other 2 children.

I know most mothers put their children first but I thought all Christian Conservative mothers always put their children first.
  • Sage24 · 1 year ago
Good question. This whole situation reflect badly on Palin. It also indicates that Palin will be keeping to Dick Cheney's proven record of being a secretive, with a closed door VP's office.

What's wrong with MCCain? He seems to making big gaffes, and has messed up this simple VP choosing procedure.
  • therepguy · 1 year ago
WITH 5 KIDS... ONE OF THEM HAS TO BE GAY!
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
Palin's got a disabled child, and now her teen daughter is pregnant. How could she possibly devote time to them while VP? How can she focus on the VP position? What a joke! I love it, the nut job repugs going down in flames!

This is what happens when you don't do what Karl Rove says...

Honestly? I'd prefer Rove making the VP selection than James Dobson and his secret cabal (Council for National Policy)...

I think McSame better McBail on this babe before his McAss is grass...

Check out thsi anti-American and selfishly pro-Israel right wing blog write up on Palin. They are nuts. Then look to the right and notice the anti-Obama ad with "Monkey in the Middle" right beneath. Think this isn't intentional? Think again.

I put this question to all...

    HAS GOD VOTED EARILY?

    I think so...

One, It didn't rain in Denver... which might means that Gods connection with the right-wing, christian fascist nuts moment is not as strong, as they would have you believe!

Two, a storm in the gulf, due to hit the gulf cost on the opening day of the Republican get-to-together and with two or three more in the wings.., is God mad with bushism and the republican fascist or what?

All red-blood Republican Fascist need to stop what their doing and find the nearest bar and put you "load on" and if you don't know that that is, it means go out and get down right drunk... cause you folks need a good old southern hang over!

    NOW!
  • lauren1959 · 1 year ago
So was there a vetting process? Is this going to be Eagleton all over again? What great judgment in the selection.
  • Coming Undone · 1 year ago
If Palin was so proud of her daughter why did they hide the pregnancy, If McCain knew why didn't he say a mother of 5 and a grandmother to be. Were they going to hide this girl when it really became obvious that she was pregnant.

Also, is Palin the look this way keys of distraction while the GOP puts together a real October surprise?
  • Rujax · 1 year ago
This is effing insulting to the office of the President and Vice-President and the citizens of the United States.

    Oh yeah...this is fine judgement.

Alaskans work hard in case their Republican Governor won't Focus on her Family.

Alaskans have the right to PAY, they just don't have the right to KNOW!
  • jescot · 1 year ago
The campaign has asked us and the media to respect the family's privacy in thsi matter.
    1) I understand the needed privacy of a 17yr old. She should be the focus - Her parents should however.
    2) They have alot of chutzpah to tell the world that 'this a private matter' while even with the little we know now we still can see that if Sarah was President she would make sure she and her folks were right in bed with you every night.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Making a child get laid while she's home with Mono....I'd say the public should know. They are the one's footing the Bill!
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
THe hypocrisy. Republicans make everyones reproductive and sexual behaviour public information. Yet Palin wants this to be private? I call BS on this whole thing.

I just heard a meteriologist on MSNBC tell folks at home, "Think about what is happening here. John McCain might have to give his acceptance speech while Hurricane Hannah is hitting the EAST COAST of the United States."

THESE WEATHER events are not all over. Not by a long shot.

FOCUS ON THE FAMILY prays for rain:

Wow, FOCUS ON THE FAMILY'S prayers are effective! They got TWO hurricanes!!!
  • bunnyjump · 1 year ago
    Ha! New game: "Where's McCain!"
Guess where the next photo op / disaster takes John MCain!
    (You know he's a POW-pretty old white)
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I don't understand. Don't Republicans believe in "One Man - One Woman" traditional marriage? How does that work if you are sexually promiscuous OUTSIDE of marriage? Why should gay people continuously get punished by not getting marriage rights when little promiscuous children like Palin's daughter and Britney Spears can run to the damned alter anytime they want? Isn't it a slap in the face of those gay couples who have been together and MONOGAMOUS for over 50 years to see this kind of crap?
  • nikto · 1 year ago
    OMG...

    McCain is THE FATHER!!!!!!
  • hotdamn · 1 year ago
Why didn't the campaign use her expectant grandmotherhood to inflate her painfully lacking biography? That is assuming that they're not lying when they say that this information was known to the campaign prior to the roll-out.
  • MommaKat · 1 year ago
    2 things:

I feel terribly for Bristol Palin and Trig Palin, and for their sake wish this could have been avoided. Right there is a choice Mommy Palin made for Bristol - the risk of her current pregnancy being announced to the nation when mom accepted her spot as GOP VP candidate. NOT a mother of the year moment by any means.

Second, and I almost didn't post it. I'd lay money on a future story informing us that Bristol either miscarries or delivers prematurely. The whole thing feels far too orchestrated, and I think the Palin's the granmother story was a carefully lain trap. Either way it goes, there's a sense of grief for and desire to protect Bristol (rightly so) that will only grow and backlash against progressives / dems for raising the issue. It's entirely possible that 4 months after the birth of a special needs child the birth mother could still appear pregnant, but it won't matter. Now that the current pregnancy story is out, the first will be made to look egregiously unfair and slimy, and it will NEVER matter what the truth might have been. Just sayin'...
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
The sad thing to me is that the mother put VP over her family first. Like McCain they are in denial. What does it say about the parents? I don't think she gives a damn about her family.
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
I'll take $100 on that bet, MommaKat.
  • nikto · 1 year ago
Maybe Bristol did the inside-glide-and-slide with Rudi Giuliani, so the kid will be genetically half-fascist.

    They'll name the baby, "Kerik".
  • dcredhead · 1 year ago
    Here's my question --

She got pregnant at 16. If the father is 18 years old or older, that's statuatory rape according to the laws of the State of AK.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
This is so damn foolish. Its like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. If these two don't talk together than how in the hell can they work together as president and VP?
  • Catsandbeer.com · 1 year ago
Let's think this through carefully: McCain's team says John knew that Bristol was pregnant when Palin's press secretary did not - John met the Palin family once before some time in February - Bristol is now "about" five months pregnant - oh my god ...
  • Jim Olson · 1 year ago
Bill Bennett is on CNN now raving about how this should be a private matter. BS! Republicans want to legislate private behaviour all the time.
  • antispin9 · 1 year ago
    Hey Sarah
If you can't sell your "family values" touting "abstinence is the answer" to your own daughter, do you really think the "I'm so sick of republican hypocrisy" American population is going to have faith in your leadership.??? Personally, I don't care if your teenage daughter is pregnant out of wedlock, or that your husband was convicted of DUI. That's real life. Just cut the sanctimonious rhetoric on behalf of a party gets caught with their "christian value" hands or other body parts in the cookie jar on almost a daily basis. Americans are tired of this holier than thou bible thumping crap!
  • justonce1 · 1 year ago
Someone tell me how is it all of a sudden ok for Palins daughter to be pregnant and it's no big deal and we don't need to talk about it. She has "Good Morals". But yet and still when Fantasia won American Idol there were people in an uproar. Saying that she shouldn't be an American Idol because she was a teen mom and they didn't want there kids thinking that they should look up to her. But here's Palin's daughter and it's OK. Why? Because she's planning on marrying the baby's father. Whoah!! And how many other teenage girls thought the same thing and they were so in love. Take a poll on that.

So what she has five kids and one with downsyndrom. I knew a girl that had three kids, one was autistic, she was a single mother, and she was working and going to school. And you know what America Palin is not performing some miracle because she makes it happen in her household. This is everyday life for many. So if we want to start praising somebody, go to the colleges at night and praise some of the mothers and fathers that are going to school at night and work 8-10 hours during the day and taking care of their kids. Let's start there.

Stop trying to make it a pretty picture and a miracle just because "Palin's doing it".
  • hihosilver · 1 year ago
For sure a lot of pressure was put on the teenagers to say we keep the baby and we are going to get married.
Married with 17 years and already a child. Don“t tell me that this is going to work. In a few years they are going to separate.
This story smells a lot. Palin is a fire sale VP pick. McCain is 72 years old. Why did he not just retire and let others to the job ?
