I have to disagree with you on your first point. I don't believe it is true that all effeminate weaklings are gay people. That is a pretty broad brush you are painting. Pansy must have two meanings, one in the homosexual world and one in the straight world. I asked a few people today what pansy, in a derogatory sense, meant to them. Each and everyone said weak or weakling, one of those people has a gay 40 year old son, who is neither effeminate or weak.
Just have to disagree on this one.

Obama responded too late to the Wright issue and it shows he is not quick on his feet. Would it not be best for AmericaBlog to focus on McCain instead of constantly Hillary bash? I am for any and both if it can be a sure thing to beat McCain. Right know, Obama will be made toast by the GOP and media. I see Carter's "America has a crisis of the Spirit" outcome in Obmam's actions and association to Wright's words. People get very uncomfortable with that kind of intelligent forward talk. That's my gut feeling.

You know something, I don't think he is toast. From all the talking heads I heard, of course all on MSNBC, everyone said he had to do this, even that old man Pat Buchanan, agreed. Most also said it showed that Obama can and will fight back when it is needed. Guess we will all know the answer next week.

I've been asking that for some time now. My analysis is:
A lot of liberals are desperate to the point of obsession, to getting a Democratic President. A lot of them believe, almost fanatically, that Obama is the only one that can win. This leads them to call Hillary Clinton all kinds of vile names, far more offensive than anything that the right has ever called her.
Based on the tone of this blog, my assumption is that if Hillary Clinton becomes the nominee (and she will), John A. and most of the bloggers will work tirelessly for John McCain.
No other conclusion can be reached from the vicious nonsense being posted here.

Second, I don't think that the Democratic governor of North Carolina was using any sort of code language here; if it was there, it was much too subtle for anybody not looking to be offended to get. I could say that you seem willing to tear mercilessly through decent Democratic politicians, such as the governor of North Carolina, to make Clinton look bad. You're only helping her with this sort of baseless attack; why don't you discuss the actual reasons she should leave the race?

jholmes: Maybe you should learn the difference between a slur and a code word. Code language is used so that people don't have to use outright slurs. "Pansy" is no different than Fag or Queer or Homo or Fairy or Cocksucker or Fudgepacker. It's a direct derogatory curse word used to purposely insult and demean a gay person. Code words for gays are Effete, Effeminate, Fey, San Franciscan, Bookish, Unathletic and many others that imply that someone is not a "regular guy." ie: GAY. It doesn't matter who the governor used it about. It only matters that he used the word, a direct slur of millions of American voters, citizens, human beings, and that Hillary stood there with a frozen smile on her face. You have to know that she heard it and that her blood ran cold knowing that there was a shitstorm coming, you can see it in her face. That dead person's grin, the whirling of her mind, the wrong, opportunistic decision to keep smiling and say nothing. It would have taken her a second to say, "Well, I wouldn't use the word pansy..." But she chose not to and here is the result You are defending her and her surrogate. Gay people are pissed. . The story is building. She's lost some votes, and possibly won the votes of a few bigots. I sent a letter to Hillary's NY office and to Gov. Easley's office. No e-mail response to my concerns. I called Hillary's campaign office today and the operator did not offer an apology; instead, she told me that "pansy" was not meant to be a gay slur. I told her that I was appalled to see Hillary smile throughout the pansy episode. Let's not kid ourselves. Senator Clinton does not respect the LGBT community. Her behavior on that stage was shameful.
