AMERICAblog: Pay me a couple hundred grand and I'll be Georgian too

  • Ferdiad · 1 year ago
John, I think you are wrong on this one. We should be concerned about Georgia, VERY concerned. Georgia is a democracy and strategic ally of the United States. What is important about this is that the Russians know that and stuck their finger in our eye. They gave the middle finger to Bush and he is helpless. We should be criticizing Bush and Co. for not doing more. They beat the war drum to invade helpless Nations like Iraq that have third world military might. However, when a real threat invades a democracy we do nothing. Notice how Bush essentially said that the militiary options "was off the table?" Ironic, isn't it. They criticize Obama for wanting to talk to Iran, but when a country that really is a threat to America goes on a actual war path we do nothing, talk about talking and keep the military out of it. The reality is that the conservative pundits are silent because they are cowards, just like their fearless leader.

I think you may want to read a little more about the situation. Where do you get your news from?

Putin called the Georgian prez a 'war criminal'. It appears that the 1-2 thousand georgians that died were innocents targeted by georgian bombs (probably bought from the US). The areas targeted were not officially ever part of geogia. 90% of them hold russian passports and would prefer to be part of russia.

This is another case of US going to war for "interests" read: money and oil
This is not about 'democracy', this is about lying, deciet, manipulation and game-playing by the the us press and the pro-corporate/republican forces and 'diplomats' of the current administration.

mccain is all over this filth because that's what he is about. he wants to play up the story of 'defending a democrcy' - total BS

Ferdiad just drank a pitcher full of Georgia Peach Kool-Aid, served up well-chilled by the McCain campaign, the Bush Regime, and the MSM.

Russia is a democracy, too. both are in the wrong. of course, Russia has designs on Georgian territory where the population is ethnic Rus, but Georgia has been coaxed in this direction by Bush/Cheney/McCain.

Obama needs to call them on this loud and often
  • Steve_in_CNJ · 1 year ago
now that the 2 countries have signed a truce, are they still going through with the Lieberman publicity stunt? Mccain seems to be running for pretend president. I hope he wins.

Good summary in the Wash Post, including this quote:

"We talk about how there's only one president at a time, so the idea that you would send your own emissaries and really interfere with the process is remarkable," said Lawrence Korb, a Reagan Defense Department official who now acts as an informal adviser to the Obama campaign. "It's very risky and can send mixed messages to foreign governments. . . . They accused Obama of being presumptuous, but he didn't do anything close to this."

    Good like of attack.

McCrazy disrespects the office of the president for political gain.

    Very good line of attack.

Good to see Korb on Obama's team. He's one of those John-Dean style republicans. C-Span had him on a congressional panel a few months ago, talking about Bush's justice dept-- he was very articulate and more than a little indignant.

What America needs now, in this difficult time, is a brand new,
27-minute long, with drum solo, version of LET THE EAGLE SOAR,
in an ensemble presentation featuring Hannah Montana, Toby Keith,
Sgt Barry Sadler, and through the magic of video, LIBERACE--doing
epic piano scales and swirling crescendos as young Hannah removes her Kung Fu Panda tank top,
letting her pert patriotic breasts soar along with American Pride.
    Areola is Sooo American!

For the drum solo, get the guy from the old Iron Butterfly.

And when it's done----RE-INSTATE THE DRAFT!

McSCUM is ready to send in The Marines to MACON.

Well, they did say the conflict was in GEORGIA, right?
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Pay McCain enough money and he'll say he's a pygmy.

Oh, wait, he actually is one.

How about CNN placing you at the debate table, John A.? I haven't heard any Democratic Strategist even come close to making the "smart" and yes, "mean" debate points you've made. You are RIGHT. Democrats better play SMART and MEAN if we want to win. McCain has been MEAN, not real smart sometimes, but most definitely mean. We have yet to SERIOUSLY hit back. Thought we learned our lessons last time with Kerry? I remember lamenting about Kerry not waiting to become President to take his wind surfing vacation. My complaint went something like, "Oh, for God's sake when he is President he can set his own agenda and take all the vacation he wants..." I feel the same way about Obama's vacation... Let's wait until after the Oath of Office to take any more vacations. Who knows what might happen during any more trips to Hawaii? One thing we have to remember is foreign governments, like Georgia, might also be operating FOR McCain to get a "friendly" administration to follow the current one. Who is to say Condi Rice or Karl Rove didn't mislead Georgia into DOING THIS to help McCain and like most Bush Admin foreign policy it has BLOWN UP in our faces!

Anyone have the State Department calendar? When was the last "face to face" with Condi, Karl and President of Georgia? Would be interesting to know what was on their "agenda" and whether or not it has anything to do with what Georgia had done regarding S. Ossetia.

3 weeks ago.....Rove and the Georgian Pres

Obama needs to unpack the crap going on and air the GOP jingoistic laundry.
he needs to do it now, loud, hard, often.

    OT

Regards Obama fighting back, do we want 4 months of this:

Newsweek: "Ads from the AFL-CIO and the Obama campaign claim that McCain is partly to blame for the loss of more than 8,000 jobs in Ohio. They paint a false picture."

GREAT HARD HITTING AD! This is what Obama needs:

"we are all Georgians, my ass." At least that's what I said, and still say, when I heard the phrase from McSame.

Commentary like this is extremely irritating for a variety of reasons. However, it really pisses me off that McCain and, or, his campaign are constantly playing the dirty game of questioning the AMERICAN patriotism of anyone who threatens him and his candicacy. And yet, he has the unmitigated gall to declare that we are all Georgians because they are having a self imposed national crisis.

Total bullshit, as usual from the McCain camp.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Obama, fellow citizen of the world = exotic, uppity, presumptuous, un-American, effete.
McCain, citizen of Georgia = ready to be President, tough CINC, aces on foreign policy.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Robert Scheer at Truthdig.com has the full measure of McCain's bullshit "leadership" on the Georgia "crisis," which his campaign engineered. Check it out!
  • ewastud · 1 year ago
Considering the very close relationship between McSame's adviser to Georgia's president and the recent reports that actions by Georgia's president in Ossetia actually provoked the Russian response, I think it is appropriate to consider whether this whole tragic episode that has resulted in the deaths of a couple thousand people may have been instigated by the McCain camp for purely political purposes.
