Note: You figure, at $28/ --times the amount of total drives in the US, it comes out to roughly $8.5 billion dollars in loss tax revenue. The gas tax is levied on oil companies at the point of production. This money is used for maintaining the countries infrastructure. Here's what would happen.

    1. Remove tax and oil companies get a free $8.5 billion dollars.
    2. The oil companies don't lower the price of gas, and continue to reap huge profits.
    3. We get royally f**ked once again by big business.

Here's what the experts say: AASHTO estimates that for the average motorists, driving approximately 12,000 miles per year, the savings would amount to roughly $28, less than the cost of a half tank of gasoline. Using an estimate of an $8.5 billion loss in fuel tax receipts as a result of the suspension, the potential effect of such a cut would be the reduction of nearly 300,000 jobs. The proposed revenue loss would come on top of what is already a $3.2 billion shortfall in the Highway Trust Fund in September that could trigger a $13.5 billion cut in highway programs in FY 2009, unless Congress comes up with a solution. The McCain-Clinton proposal would add $8.5 billion to that shortfall, essentially wiping out the program next year

It's like she's Joe Lieberman October 2006. she'll do anything...say anything to diss a Democrat.

and the only that separates Hillary and McCain is a YouTube Video of her singing "Bomb Bomb Iran".

One of the last journalistic magazines, Vanity Fair, is even highlighting the damage that sHillary is causing:

    The Campaign Toll
    When Democrats Go Post-al
The vicious Clinton-versus-Obama rupture at Daily Kos, the most activist site in the liberal blogosphere, reflects a party-wide split. What really rankles, as Democrats tear at one another, is the free pass they’ve given McCain—and the White House.

If she thought it would get her a vote - she'd do it.

Now Obama has to make a statement backing Miller up.

Don't pass up a chance to stick the shiv in.

    Hillary wouldn't.

Man, every time I think Sen. Clinton can't do anything more to show how far she's willing to debase herself to secure the nomination, she proves there's another subbasement to explore. This idea is beyond stupid and would gravely hurt the nation's ability to repair its crumbling infrastructure at a time when we need it most. (The long, hard winter has left roadways in the Midwest and Northeast even more crumbling and dangerous than before.) Worse than her posing as a "beer and a shot" kind of girl (sipping top shelf Crown Royal), worse than using an NRA-style attack ad against Obama (featuring a rifle that doesn't exist,) is this insistence that she's standing up for all the little people.

What a hack she is. And what a distraction, but we'll get through this eventually.

Thank you for laying that out in clear, understandable language.

Man, that's hard htting. Good on George Miller. I am wondering if the powers that be are not going to come out in force against her now that she is threatening to try to seat MI and FL as is by going to the rules committee on May 31.

(whisper) ... in an alternate universe : if Hillary does succeed in totally destroying the Democratic Party , we celebrate it !

Let her have the Blue Dogs , , ,

Then , we start a New Dem Coalition and run Obama as a third Party peoples oriented candidate with $5 & 10 contribution requests , regularly . We tell America the honest truth , show them examples of the way out of this Repub/Dem created mess as Corporate Hill 'n McSame (Pete & RePete) continue to pander . They become joined at the hip of foolishness (BOTH wanna nuke Iran & Gas Company Holiday) and they bleed each other's votes ! We don't go as far left as some third Party advocates wish , but we give Hope to a new way .

    then , B following A , preceding C and alota Work , , , We WIN !

or if not win , at least we don't lose working for Pete & RePete and WE change history .

we now return to regular programming ...

I guess that's good news, then, John.
