AMERICAblog: Pelosi bests Bush -- prevents vote Bush was trying to force on Colombia Free Trade Agreement

  • CDS2 · 1 year ago
Yep, just what we need to do, alienate another South American country. They all like the USA so much, that hell, lets just tell Columbia to go to hell.

Um, would have been nice if she had whipped his butt with Articles of Impeachment a couple of years ago. Anything she does now doesn't matter.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    Good for her.

If Bush supported it, I'm sure it wasn't in our country's best interest.

Finally Pelosi is starting to act like a Democrat.

Before, she was just acting like a whore.

i'm not quite ready to play nice with nancy. she is not doing her job. if she was she would have stopped funding this illegal occupation and identified the war criminals who started it by now.

our entire gov't has failed us. it's not just the republicans. that point should not be forgotten.
  • SouthernYankee · 1 year ago
It's finally nice to see the speaker finally grow a set of balls.
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
Wow, Nancy finally did her job?
What the hell is wrong with her, is she sick?
Nancy Pelosi is a joke, a bad, horribly sad and pathetic joke.
She just doesn't like it when her Constitutional duties clutter up her table.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
"Now this is why we love having Speaker Nancy Pelosi. It's so great when she plays hardball with Bush -- and whips his butt."

    You gotta be kidding, right?

Mrs. IMPEACHMENT IS OFF THE TALBLE is loved?

Sounds like Pelosi is still the ENABLER if bush is still getting a free ride after all his high crimes and misdemanor.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
Oh and let me repeat what I have said before: she's a SKANK!

It's rude, maybe. But what's worse is her not doing anything to protect the US Constitution. I'm sick of her!

Foreign trade laws need an in-depth study and revision at all levels. I hope a moment like this opens the door to a very wide and very careful review of all the foreign trade agreements. We let Chinese pet food in to poison our pets but ROFM (rich old fat men) can't smoke a Cuban cigar in public. That's uneven at best, odd under any circumstances, and has nothing to do with an even playing field in the world of international trade.

She needs to do that type of thing more often. I'm still upset with her for taking impeachment off of the table. It's our only way to hold Bush and Cheney accountable and it is needed to prevent similar actions by future Presidents.
  • eric · 1 year ago
Ok, I like it also, although I'm still upset about her opposition to impeachment. I guess she wants to rub our noses in Bush's s*it after we let him get in the White House two times.
  • Matthew Saroff · 1 year ago
No, this is not about her stopping Bush from getting this passed.

This is about getting more time for lobbyists to twist the arms of Dems who would vote against it. Dave Sirota has the ugly details at openleft.com
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
What bothers me about this is the fact that George Bush was the FIRST president in 3 decades to try and bypass the Speaker of the House. It is official, George Bush doesn't need a Congress, he is the king.
  • jeanruss · 1 year ago
David Sirota (who follows union politics) says this stall isn't to stop the law, it is to postpone it til after the election, so the Democratic candidates can pretend to be pro-union. She will let it pass after the elction. Clinton and Obama are both free-traders if you look at their votes. Mark Penn and Bill Clinton have taken MILLIONS from Colombia. Obama voted FOR the Peru freetrade deal. They are both blowing smoke on this issue. John Edwards was the only candidate who was not supportive of these Nafta style agreements that hurt American workers.
  • OlderAndWiser · 1 year ago
Sorry, but I'm not letting Pelosi off the hook this easily. She's abandoned her Constitutional duties by not impeaching those bastards--both, Bush AND Cheney and cleaning the White House of corruption and subversion.
  • Wisconsin Liberal · 1 year ago
Reid and Pelosi don't have a set of balls between them. We need true leadership. Let Sen.Feingold and Congressman Kucinch take charge.
  • tofubo · 1 year ago
i heard that this pushes the vote on the bill until next year, this only helps the incumbent democrats that would have to answer to their constituents on why they voted for it, now, when they vote for it next year, we can only stew until the next election, and it'll be forgotten and fucked us over by then
  • OleHippieChick · 1 year ago
Yeah, yeah, good for her. There was nothing on her table anyway, so she had room.
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
When Pelosi Has the cooperation of Dem. Caucus, she can do good things. Without unity of Caucus members, she is hamstrung. Some expect her to hold a gun to Blue Dog heads.

    Good for here...

    G. W. Bush, the nation's wonder boy... needs to be shown, just how little his role is in the day to day business of governance...
