he married a wheel of cheese?
  • John Aravosis · 11 months ago
LOL sorry about that, typo. Though it would explain a lot...
  • landreau · 11 months ago
    >But this doesn't sound like it.<

    You're right. It ain't it.
  • Joel · 11 months ago
I remember my wedding day. All our friends and family. My beautiful wife under the hupa. The glorious California day.

And of course saying, "She's a beautiful assistant manager."
  • intotheabyss81 · 11 months ago
I wonder if that beard itches.
  • hrh · 11 months ago
She's heir to a costume company. So, she's not only a beard, she sells them!
  • Ben Dover · 11 months ago
Bet that was a wedding night of epic proportions. All that screaming and crying.

Bet it took the bride hours to get Charlie out of the locked bathroom.
  • Butch1 · 11 months ago
Goodness, I hope he brought his Viagra because it's going to take all that his libido can muster to make the "South rise again!"
  • moreleesafer · 11 months ago
    BEN!!!!!!! that is hilarious!
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 11 months ago
I'm still wondering, it didn't tell you in the article...

did the Village People play at the wedding reception?
  • Nigel Elliott · 11 months ago
Governor Crist kissed a girl, and he liked it. Hope his boyfriend don't mind it! :-)
  • Zorba · 11 months ago
"She's a beautiful first lady"????? What kind of comment is that on your wedding day? He sounds far more excited about having a ceremonial "first lady" than about having a wife. I feel sorry for the bride (unless she's aware of her true function and just wants the perks of being married to a governor- whatever they may be).
  • George · 11 months ago
Yes, that is a very, very bizarre, and suspicious, comment. It conveys that his wife is an object or functionary.
  • yagi · 11 months ago
That was my reaction as well. I guess he couldn't manage to take his political filter off long enough experience his own wedding as a human being. Sad for them.

I was an emotional wreck at my wedding, but very, very happy. And I'm grateful I didn't have press covering the event. =)

See gay people CAN get married in Florida.
  • PeteWa · 11 months ago
Crist: "OMG! She is going to look so great hanging out with me while we go shopping, plus she is really fun to giggle with!!!"

See gay people CAN get married in Florida.
  • Older_Wiser · 11 months ago
She's rich, he's not. If he doesn't move to Fisher Island with her and doesn't give up the rented condo, I give it about as much time as his first marriage...
  • Marck · 11 months ago
Anyone who thinks that Obama is a friend to the LGBT Community should read this:
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lane-hudson/obama...

Days before the election he stated on MTV that he was personally against same sex marriage "because God is in the mix". And now we see how he is ignoring the LGBT Community in his new appointments.

Yeah, let's focus on Crist, the closet case, all the while DJ Obama remixes our rights, because "God is in the mix". Oh, and all that time working for the Obama campaign while ignoring Prop 8, great work!
  • Lolis · 11 months ago
He just appointed an openly gay woman on his energy team. He is considering at least one another for Labor Secretary. I think we all know about his stance on gay marriage, but unfortunately no other presidential level Democrat stood up for gay marriage. I think it is silly to blame Obama volunteers for neglecting Prop 8. What evidence do you have of this?

So are you part of the 25% of gays who voted for McCain/Palin?
  • PeteWa · 11 months ago
Crist: "Ha ha ha, all the straight guys are going to be so jealous of me and my trophy! She is going to look fabulous at all of those official functions!"
  • tbhull · 11 months ago
Texas governor Rick Perry is married.
  • FunMe · 11 months ago
Isn't he married but with a boyfriend that happens to be his chief of staff?
  • Lolis · 11 months ago
Out of all of the Republican losers, I like Crist the best. If a Republican has to be president in eight years, I would take him over Palin/ Pawlenty/Jindal/Huckabee any day of the week. Democrats I know in Florida don't completely hate him.
  • manolo · 11 months ago
why is there an add for the mormons? is this ironic?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 11 months ago
Grooms usually don't say they're "excited" to be married.
  • wmforr · 11 months ago
Well, he said he couldn't be more excited. I'm sure there are lots of young men in Florida who have seen evidence to the contrary.

It constantly amazes me how these guys, Crist, Craig, et al, can maintain they are straight when the whole world, Democrats, Republicans, comedians, acknowledges that that is a crock of cocky-doodoo.
  • Cannon · 11 months ago
I did. Seems like there's a lot of reaching to make something out of nothing around here.
  • Alison · 11 months ago
It's pretty clear what this is about, isn't it?

    Florida needed a first lady.

He didn't need a soul mate who made him crazy with desire.

I feel sorry for her. I wonder what's in it for her?
  • Hendrix Student · 11 months ago
I am not sure about his statement to the press. It may have simply been a poor choice of words. But the entire kissing incident seems strange. He was so hesitant to kiss his bride on his wedding that she actually had to force him to kiss her passionately. They've barely been together for a year. Has the fire already burned out?
  • soapdish · 11 months ago
Maybe he was pretending it was Jim Rome instead?
  • Butch1 · 11 months ago
Interesting that he can't seem to get politics out of his mindset especially during a "milestone" in his life, such as marriage. I don't think I would look at my new bride as some sort of special trophy to fulfill some republican dream I had if I were straight and trying to advance in the GOP.. One can not get ahead if one is not heterosexually married to someone, it's as simple as that. He's only fooling himself. You will never see Lindsey Graham move any farther up the latter in his party whether he's gay or not. He is a "confirmed-bachelor." It's a wonderful Southern euphemism for a gay man.
  • Indigo · 11 months ago
Florida had a first lady govenor. Now Florida has a bearded lady governor and an assistant host of the female persuasion. It's bizarre. But then, this is Florida, that's alright. We do bizarre. Sometimes well, sometimes not, but nevertheless . . .
  • DorothyGale · 11 months ago
Sorry, that honor went to New Jersey.
  • Mitchla · 11 months ago
As a heterosexual man, I can tell you that I have never referred to my wife as a "beautiful first lady."
  • FunMe · 11 months ago
    I have an idea.

Let's ask Tom Cruise, Barry Diller and Calvin Klein if this is what a straight male would say on their wedding day?
  • whomod · 11 months ago
And then to refresh your memories we could also have had a Michael Jackson Lisa Marie Presley moment.

    Christ kissed Rome

There's a metaphor in there somewhere
  • synuclein · 11 months ago
As a straight guy who can still remember his wedding...almost a decade and a half (and two - wonderful - rugrats) later, there is no way I'd refer to my wife as a "beautiful first lady". In fact, I was so gobsmacked when I saw my wife enter the church, my best man (a pal from med school) commented that he'd just brushed up on his CPR just in case I had an "incident" and needed to be revived before the ceremony.

I'm betting that this marriage'll last until ~2012 or so -- just long enough for Charlie to run for the WH. Once that goes all pear-shaped (as rumours circulate courtesy of the Enquirer, et al.), they'll separate amicably...
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 11 months ago
Very sad. But this kind of thing will keep on happening until America overcomes its insane homophobia.
  • moreleesafer · 11 months ago
After the kiss he was freaking because he had girl cooties on his lips
  • devlzadvocate · 11 months ago
    LOLOLOL
  • nikto · 11 months ago
When asked how his new bride was in bed,
    Governor Crist replied, "Fabulous, baby!"
  • Sebastian · 11 months ago
Uh . . . guys? A little cultural tolerance, please. Some people are good at public affection, some aren't, particularly when a half-million or so gossipy spectators are looking on. I've known grooms so shell-shocked at the ceremony they could barely keep their feet on the step.

I managed to get in a passable kiss on my bride in spite of a 100 degree heat index INSIDE the church. I remember clearly how beautiful she looked coming down the aisle but also dreading that we or our clothing might stick together while we held each other.
  • devlzadvocate · 11 months ago
This is about more than a kiss.
  • fl79tr · 11 months ago
God You guys are killing me! these Comments are so GOOD!!
  • devlzadvocate · 11 months ago
I won't be surprised when it ends and he is cruising parking lots in South Beach and dating McGreavey.

So, Crist admits it was the first lady he kissed?
  • Eclectablog · 11 months ago
So, Crist admits it was the first lady he kissed?

Brilliant. Folks, I think we have a winner.
  • cowboyneok · 11 months ago
"She's a beautiful first lady, and a fabulous beard! I couldn't be more excited... and did you see her dress? That girl has style baby, and I can't wait to try it on when we get home!!! and those shoes... I'll be stomping all over the mansion in those shoes, too! You just wait, girlfriend!"

Jeesh... what Crist said, and above is what went through my mind after reading what he actually said...
  • Bruce · 11 months ago
In poker they call that a "tell." Good catch, Aravosis.
  • Cannon · 11 months ago
That's how I talked about my wife on our wedding day. Sounds above the board to me.
