Thank you for posting this Joe and thank you Congresswoman Tubbs-Jones for your service to this country. You make me proud.

As long as Obama tells the truth about her, I have no problem with him.

She wasn't very nice to him. If he pretends to miss her, no way he gets my vote.

    SHE WAS A COURAGEOUS PATRIOT.

Are we sure there was no foul play??

She really cared about Ohio. What a leader!
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
why are all these black icons dying all of a sudden...?
ok, it's got to be a coincidence.

But seriously, Tubbs-Jones was a great Dem. activist
who stuck her neck out! (Unfortunately, that can get
your head wacked off in Ohio and Bush USA.)

    removed from life support???

    Our country is already there!

    Sad news.

No wonder Pelosi is running scared!!
    Damned wimp that she is.

I'd rather die proud with honor and integrity,
than die a damned criminal or wimp.

We need to return to those values because
that is what made our country strong in the
first place. Not to go all "Braveheart" here, but
the good people in U.S. govt. are becoming
scarce! Voluntarily or involuntarity!! If you haven't
    noticed!

I don't know why Tubbs Jones suddenly,
mysteriously died in her 50s, but I do know
that she didn't knuckle under in her political
life. She was a real maverick from that
    standpoint.

We've got some royal criminal wimps in
the White House and VP mansion.

OK, I'm glad she hasn't passed.

She was too much of a fighter for that!!

At least we still have Kucinich up in Ohio!
It would be a little too obvious if Bush/CIA
knocked him off, now wouldn't it?!

Curious that Tubbs Jones never hesitated
to back up anti-Bush or impeachment legislation...
    She just didn't back down.

My heart goes out to her loved ones. We've lost a great, good, and wise progressive voice for justice. It's a real shame that it wasn't Mean Jean instead.

    Ha!
    CNN Flubbs Jones!
Indifferent to this congressperson (except for her nail fashions) until her anti-Obama commentary revolted me during the primaries. She was particularly witchy with near-death experience Tweety.
My cornchip nails are at half-finger.

If she's on life support "with limited brain function" , as I note at 1450 PM (EST), will the Fundies come out in force for her continuation on life support like they did for Terry Schiavo? [....] I thought not...

Is Mr. Frist available for video consultation?
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
Damn, I'm from Ohio and I can attest that she really cared about Ohio.
She was and still is great.
(btw, a lot of Ohioans favored Clinton because they remember the
good 'ole days when Mr. Clinton delivered on a good economy.
"It's the economy, stupid" is still the mantra in Ohio! It overrides
    just about everything else.)

    Why is this happening?

Limited brain function? Does that mean she has to serve as a Republican now? My thoughts are with her family.
  • Gary SF · 1 year ago
Maybe it was her health issue that cause her say the following about the photo of Barak Obama wearing traditional clothing: "I have no shame, or no problem, with people looking at Barack Obama in his native clothing -- in the clothing of his country." Supporting Hillary Clinton is one thing. Perpetuating lies and racist stereotypes about anyone is quite another and unacceptable. Good riddance to another political hack. They are a disgrace, be they democrat or republican.
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
SHE, OF ALL PEOPLE, IS NOT A RACIST!!!

Are you crazy?? She's far darker and more truly
American "black" than Obama ever could be.

Tubbs-Jones was one of the few brave, honest
souls who took off after Bush on stealing the
election from inner city black voters in 2004
and 2000. She went after them with Conyers
and that is the true spirit of Civil Rights for all.

She is a great lady. How dare you smear her with
such petty tripe at a time like this?

Stephanie Tubbs-Jones was like a lightning rod
for the truth. And BTW, she is one of the few
Superdelegates who converted to Obama from
Clinton. She just became a Superdelegate for him
in June. Some say she may be getting "punished" for that....

One thing I do know, is that Ohio is a hotbed for Rovian
corruption and Rep. Tubbs-Jones stood up to it with a
backbone of steel. Bushies were scared of her. The End.

    God bless her!
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
Never forget that OHIO was the key to Bush's
    second term...

Tubbs-Jones rattled the cage hard, especially
in the wake of the 2004 election fiasco. The
fiasco that is now coming to light with the
    Congressional hearings where Rove refuses
to appear under subpoena to testify regarding
    his involvement with terminating federal
    prosecutors for political and voting
    enforcement issues...
    Certain investigators and independent
journalists are hot on the trail of what
    really happened in OH.
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
i.e. The whole story could break, so they
have to deep six the big counter-players
    like Tubbs-Jones.

Sadly, Ohio govt. is still quite corrupt with
remnants of the bad Repubs. still lurking.
    For example, the "Independent" Inspector
General's Office is actually made up of some
political appointees who were very partisan
and have no business policing the ethics of
    others!

They came from Ohio state agencies that
were little more than shady fronts for GOP
    financial operations.
  • Gary SF · 1 year ago
What a racist thing to say - that she is 'more truly American black than Obama.' But she is gone. Good riddance. Her cheap shots were also racist.

Number One, I wouldn't put it past this evil Bush administration. Way back in the 60s we heard a lot about secret assassination drugs developed by the CIA which were untraceable and killed by heart attack or stroke. That was 40 years ago. Who knows what they have now. Then also, there are a lot of doctors who would jump at the chance to do Bush and the neocons bidding especially with regard to a Black, liberal woman Congress member, either lie about the cause of her medical condition, the drugs used to kill her or even in violation of their oath, kill her. Given the vile, rotten pond scum that is this administration, yeah, maybe I can see why Pelosi, Reid and so many Democrats run scared, especially when Bush whispers in their ears that he will kill off their loved ones first. Car wrecks, airplane crashes, and then these medical conditions that just turn out to be fatal or completely incapaciate the victims in horrible, horrible ways. Bush and company had no compunctions about killing of thousands of American soldiers, and even less 1.3 million Iraqi Infidel, heathen citizens, or even 3,000 that died on 9/11 and 1,500 that died when Katrina struck New Orleans and the Gulf Coast. I seriously doubt they would hesitate at all to kill of a damn, liberal, N----- Congresswoman.
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
yeah, she was quite liberal and a TOTAL watchdog for
    the average American citizen.

She was not apathetic. She worked hard. She was
tough. She was Bush's worst nightmare!
  • 2008 · 1 year ago
I also thought that it was INCREDIBLY suspicious when that D.C. Madam suddenly committed "suicide" before her trial recently. She had warned earlier that she might be offed because of what she could bring to light in terms of a client list in D.C. She was not suicidal.

And our 'invisible' VP and criminal mastermind, Dick Cheney, was reputed to be a repeat customer on that list!

Yet, we see Gov. Elliot Spitzer, another very powerful, outspoken Dem. lightning rod go down with nary a peep. This is how they operate.

Another connection is that Spitzer was about to sue Bush-supported corporate interests that concentrated a lot of their dirty dealings in Cleveland. -Ohio is ground zero for the mortgage crisis- Spitzer recently had announced publicly that the Bush Administration had enabled these corporate criminals to create the sub-prime crisis and the Ohio housing fallout was a key example! That was pretty gutsy and if you have Spitzer, the former ace prosecutor, coming after you, you're in deep doo. Then, suddenly, Spitzer essentially gets set up and offed.

(current events are starting to seem like a good crime novel lately!)

Also, it didn't seem like Tubbs-Jones was in less than robust health. To the contrary, she seemed as resilient and fired up as ever.

  • justndav32 · 1 year ago
This is a damn shame. Now I see its being reported at 610pm CT that she has passed. I loved how fired up she would get. She was a beacon for civil rights and voting rights in this country and she will always be remembered for that. I also liked it when she stood up for the bad election results and funny business in 2000 and 2004. Im a Barack guy and it didnt bother me she was a Hillary supporter one bit, love you Ms. Tubbs Jones, you are a true patriot and were admired outside of Ohio. My thoughts are with your family and friends at this difficult time.

Amen. I've watched her on the House floor for many years now and have never imagined that she would compromise her principles for any special interest and that includes race. Ohio has been blessed by her service and I am proud to have had her as a representative of the Democratic Party. She was a great leader and will be missed.
