Once Sarah says to leave her family alone (because she only has time to be a shitty mother) will she then give interviews?
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
Off topic but that CNN banner ad is hilarious. What is that in his mouth?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
OT-Palin doesn't seem to value girls. I know in GOPer world that's no big deal, but isn't that kind of sexist?

I suspect they actually mean "cured" like them hunters cure a slab of meat.

And, oh, does the description of the process as "being hung up in a smokehouse" lead itself into a universe of bad double-entendre...
  • Busboy · 1 year ago
Of course they can; isn't that what the FEMA detention camps are for? ;-)
  • Jenius · 1 year ago
They've always been more Republican than Log Cabin. But I think THAT can be cured.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
persistent stupidity isn't curable... 8 years of bush has proven this.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
and if mcsame wins... well, that reinforces my point.

great headline typo. plain or palin, it's all pretty paltry. I pity the party of pale, pious pricks.
(but my favorite so far is klondike barbie).
  • shrrrr · 1 year ago
Tonight every GOP closet case in the hall is going to have a boner for Levi. You can take that to the bank.
  • larz · 1 year ago
They thought "vetting" was something that happened in military bathroom stalls.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
umm... given that james dobson said the palin family's plight with Bristol showed they were "human"...

I'd like to point out to the religious right that all the gay children born to chri$tian families are "human".

and I'd like to ask how a gay "cure" is different than an abortion.

Bristol could be "cured" too... but I'm sure they'd argue there's nothing wrong with her, she's "human".

Of course, when it's a non-christian family having a kid out of wedlock is a mortal sin, inexcusable, a result of bad upbringing, not loving Jebus, an example of a corrupt and decaying society, etc etc...

When it's one of THEM, however, it's always "they should be forgiven, they chose life, they're a normal family, PRAISE GAWD"

They know this. They know they're total hypocrites. They know that they can never, and never do, live by the rules they would like to enforce upon everybody else.

    THAT is elitism.

Can Caribou Barbie be cured of her intolerance and stupidity? Is there some sort of institution set up for that?

    Oh right, there is.

    SCHOOL.

I thought McCain is sending her to community college Veep classes.

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) gave thousands of dollars to the Log Cabin Republicans, and they endorsed Joe Lieberman.

Please consider endorsing the boycott of the Boston HRC Dinner at QueerToday.com to let them know we expect better for our nation's largest gay rights organization.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
HRC is not welcome in the LGBT movement anymore.

Not the one I'm involved in anyways. I wouldn't call a boycott but I would suggest gays, lesbians, and our trans brothers and sisters give to a group that gets results: NCLR, Lambda Legal, and Equality California for example.
  • QueerToday · 1 year ago
Hi Scott :) I agree people should begin to donate to other organizations - particularly local groups that have small budgets like the Boston Alliance of LGBT Youth.

However, I think we need boycott and protest to inform/wake up the thousands upon thousands of people who still donate to HRC without knowing what HRC is doing behind the scenes. Many LGBT people, are simply not aware that HRC endorses republicans, sold out the trans community time and time again, etc.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the way I see it, the HRC might as well give money to supply drugs to gay heroin users.

If you're going to go down the path to self-hating destruction... fine.

but I don't want to be associated with you because I'm gay.

    why support stupidity?
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
I'm proud of you. I was only speaking for myself but I think it's great that you're pointing out their shortcomings. Don't get me wrong.
  • paul94611 · 1 year ago
Sounds a lot like the approach the Catholic Church took in response to clergy that had been sexually abusive.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
Log Cabin Republicans have always seemed to me to be a veil for something far more sinister, now I realize it's just selfish, greedy, egocentric stupidity.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
I just email and called HRC and told them they can't have it both ways. They can't give money to the Republicans and then campaign against them. Sure enough, checked my email and there is a message from Solomenese letting me know what McCain and Palin will do to unravel everything for GLBT families. Well, don't I already know that? So WTF is HRC giving them my money? No more money from me for HRC unless they stop that bs.

Within a week, EVERY major metropolitan gay drag place will have their own "Sarah Palin" on the bill.
  • onelaw · 1 year ago
Are the Log Cabin Republicans okay with don't ask don't tell?

Classic example of Don't ask, don't tell.

Has anyone asked the good soldier about gays in the military? Since he is still fighting a war that ended in 1975, it's probably irrelevant to him.

For McCain, it seems, every war is a righteous war, whether it's an illegal war or one that we started under false pretenses. What's $10,000,000,000 a month got to do with it? This is a man who believes that one honors dead soldiers by adding more of their contemporaries to the list.

"It's always the old who lead us to the war, always the young who die..." Phil Ochs

I bought a tee shirt that says:

    "John McCain

    My Drug of Choice"

    google it for the site.

Yeah, what's with the self-hating log cabin Rs??
  • Webster · 1 year ago
So this is what the Log Cabin Republicans support:

"Sarah Palin Opposed Supreme Court Ruling Giving Same-Sex Couples Benefits: Asked if she would support the Alaska Supreme Court’s ruling that spousal benefits for state employees should be given to same-sex couples, Palin responded, “No, I believe spousal benefits are reserved for married citizens as defined in our constitution.” [Eagle Forum questionnaire]

Palin Opposed Expanding Hate Crimes Laws: Asked if she would support an effort to expand hate crime laws, Palin responded, “No, as I believe all heinous crime is based on hate.” [Eagle Forum questionnaire]

Palin Said She Supported Ban on Gay Marriage and Denying Benefits to Gay Couples: “Palin said she’s not out to judge anyone and has good friends who are gay, but that she supported the 1998 constitutional amendment [to ban gay marriage]. Elected officials can’t defy the court when it comes to how rights are applied, she said, but she would support a ballot question that would deny benefits to homosexual couples. ‘I believe that honoring the family structure is that important,’ Palin said. She said she doesn’t know if people choose to be gay.” [Anchorage Daily News (Alaska), 8/6/06]

Palin Said She Supported a Constitutional Amendment Overturning Supreme Court Mandate of Benefits for Same-Sex Couples: Asked if she would support a Constitutional amendment to overturn the Alaska Supreme Court decision mandating public employers to provide benefits equivalent to same-sex couples, Sarah Palin responded “yes.” [Alaska Family Council Voter Guide, 8/22/06]"

Why do gay Republicans hate other gays?
  • Upland_Oddball · 1 year ago
Secretly, gay Republicans yearn for a return to the Halcyon days of classical Greece and Rome. They want to go to the slave market and buy a smooth skinned Gaul or a beefy German, and if their tastes run exotic, a Nubian. Love for sale, sweet steaming love for sale. Take him home, whip him into submissio, break his spirit, and then teach him how to peel and feed you and your guests grapes, one at a time, dropping them in open mouths.

Why do gay Republicans hate other gays? I think itt must stem from a deep dissatisfaction and a sense of personal disadvantage within the minds and hearts of gay Republicans. They are a people dislocated in time. They deeply resent the modern environment in which, to take a man to bed, one has to have his consent, and probably arrouse his libido. Sex among equals is a repugnant concept to Republcian gays. That is why so many can't wait to go to Bangkok or Manilla to find compliant, eager boys. It has been a blow to their hearts that Saigon turned out so bad, as Gary Glitter found out. And of course, in a pinch, a rent boy will do.

Why do gay Republicans hate other gays? They hate us for our freedom.

Those so-called religious people were brain washed as children by their being taught religion and god. The teaching of religion and the god-myth is a form of child abuse. Their homophobia is a direct result of their being brain washed. No wonder so many gay people grow up with self-hatred. At early stages it is made clear that gay is wrong. To justify hatred on religious belief is the apex of hypocrisy. Religion is a drug. Put the clergy in jail with the other drug dealers.

    "Religion
    Is Not
    My Drug Of Choice"

    google the phrase

Makes me wonder if the gay and lesbian bars in St. Paul and Minneaolis suddenly became empty during the duration of the RNC. Havng Palin in town must have "cured" all the closet cases and hypocrites of their need for a little same-sex action and affection. But i wonder, yes I wonder, who was watching the restrooms at the Excel Center? Someone had to look out for signs of Republican Foot Tapping Codes in acttion. Getting all heated up by her "bring 'em down with her bare teeth, skin them on the spot, bleed them out, and eat the flesh uncooked and still warm" red-meat speech must have stirred up both emotions and primal libidinal forces.
