The neocons, with regards to playing "gotcha", they keep going, and going, and.....

I told him that the words were spoken by Ahmed Yousef, and offered to read him the quote, which I proceeded to do from my Blackberry: "We like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle…"

Axelrod focused on the Kennedy portion of the quote, and was "flattered" by the comparison.

"I like John Kennedy too," Axelrod said. "That's about the only thing we have in common with this gentleman from Hamas. We all agree that John Kennedy was a great president, and it's flattering when anybody says that Barack Obama would follow in his footsteps."

Feds to collect DNA from every person they arrest

    Eileen Sullivan / Associated Press | April 16, 2008

WASHINGTON - The government plans to begin collecting DNA samples from anyone arrested by a federal law enforcement agency — a move intended to prevent violent crime but which also is raising concerns about the privacy of innocent people.

Using authority granted by Congress, the government also plans to collect DNA samples from foreigners who are detained, whether they have been charged or not. The DNA would be collected through a cheek swab, Justice Department spokesman Erik Ablin said Wednesday. That would be a departure from current practice, which limits DNA collection to convicted felons.

Expanding the DNA database, known as CODIS, raises civil liberties questions about the potential for misuse of such personal information, such as family ties and genetic conditions.

Ablin said the DNA collection would be subject to the same privacy laws applied to current DNA sampling. That means none of it would be used for identifying genetic traits, diseases or disorders.

Congress gave the Justice Department the authority to expand DNA collection in two different laws passed in 2005 and 2006.

Armed Robots Turn Their Weapons On US Soldiers

    YOUR NEW REALITY | April 14, 2008

Has the Killer Robot Revolution already begun? :

Ground-crawling US war robots armed with machine guns, deployed to fight in Iraq last year, reportedly turned on their fleshy masters almost at once. The rebellious machine warriors have been retired from combat pending upgrades.

The revelations were made by Kevin Fahey, US Army program executive officer for ground forces, at the recent RoboBusiness conference in America.

Speaking to Popular Mechanics, Fahey said there had been chilling incidents in which the SWORDS combat bot had swivelled round and apparently attempted to train its 5.56mm M249 light machine-gun on its human comrades.

"The gun started moving when it was not intended to move," he said.

Note the words "chilling incidents". So the killbots haven’t mistakenly targeted their "human comrades" just the once, but multiple times. Imagine what havoc and destruction a killbot could unleash inside the Green Zone if enemy hackers managed to seize control of it?

Someone or something just blessed America.

Dan Abrams just broke this update. Karl Rove sent him an angry six-page letter because Dan's "Verdict" has been following the Siegelman case and asked Rove's attorney if he would testify if Congress asked. Well, Congress called Rove's bluff, but now their back tracking and Rove lashed out at Abrams in the letter mention above. Whoa!

House committee asks Rove to testify about ex-Ala. governor
The House Judiciary Committee on Thursday asked former White House adviser Karl Rove to testify about claims that he influenced a federal corruption case against former Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman of Alabama

So the Pope thinks we're angry. I wonder why? Could it be all the B.S. that come out of D.C? could it be perpetual war for perpetual peace? Could it be my freaking gas costs that are going through the roof ( Another nickle increase to $3.55 today? Or might it be all those nice guys dressed in black with the white collars that have been sodimizing kids for decades?
Take your pick Pope. Yeah, I'd say we're pissed and for good reason.

  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Ah ha, but Hillary will maintain the Pope is correct because he says people are forgetting God, whereas Obama said they are embracing their religions. See, this is how she plays this game.

If she wasn't so caught up in going negative, she might have been able to be the candidate that kind of pointed out how leaders in the Democratic Party and leaders in the the religious community like the Pope actually have a lot of the same concerns. She's so caught up in playing the game of gotcha politics, however, that she's pretty much ruined her chance of being able to get any good press for making that connection.
  • SarainKC · 1 year ago
OK, this is off topic, but I'm going to vent. I just got banned from commenting on Huffingtonpost over a comment about the Rachel maddow/Joe Scarborough smack down. She brought up McCain's former FL Co-chair who got busted soliciting oral sex in a public restroom and should the pundits hold him responsible by his association with the guy. Joe, once again outwitted stomped off the set. I commented that I had forgotten about that and yes, absolutely, in keeping with the MSM narrative, we should be asking McCain if he is like his former co-chair and trolls for sex in public men's rooms. Has he had sex with the former co-chair (or anyone else) in a public restroom and that he must be held accountable for his former co-chairs behavior! The media must ask him over and over until we get an answer that satisfies us. Then I ended with McCain endorses gay public sex. Made perfect sense to me. Was I too harsh?

Cat Stevens can't come in because he's got a Moslem name now but a Nazi can walk in and hurl insults in all directions. It's all about who owns the real estate.

Driving home tonight I had on a local talk radio program. The moderator, admittedly a repug, asked the questions: why are we in Iraq, what is the mission there, and how will we know when we have finished there. The first guy who I heard answer said we were in Iraq because of 9/11! We knew Sadam had WMD and we had to go after him. The mission was to stay in Iraq for however long it takes to make the middle east a free world! He wasn't quite sure how we would know if we had won. The next caller was a woman. She thought Bush was right in going to Iraq. We had to protect Israel! and we should stay for as many years it takes to secure the region. Not quite sure how long that would take. By this time I was so angry I was yelling at the radio, almost drove off the road a couple of times so thought best to change stations. If this is any indication of how Americans think we are in a world of s**t. And we would be surprised how many think this way. We are in Iraq because of 9/11?????

  • consult · 1 year ago
Just when I think I might be able to get a little enthusiastic about Obama, he does something snarky and it passes under the radar. He threw out the sexist dog whistle of the tea and cookies remark to make sure people in PA remembered that she said it. He just happens to be a lot smoother in his attacks than she is. He said he brought it up as an example of being misunderstood, but he really brought it up to make sure it was remembered, and that is a Republican talking point. He borrowed from Rove's playbook on the Harry and Louise mailers and continues to do so, but he is never called out on it. This is definitely not a new kind of politics; its just a smoother kind of politics.

Its is so hypocritical that Hillary Clinton tries to tie Obama to Ayers with their Guilt by Association, but one of the reasons that Bill Clinton cited for wanting to pardon the FALN prisoners was that they were being unfairly punished by Guilt by Association.

    The Clintons' Terror Pardons
    By DEBRA BURLINGAME
    February 12, 2008; Page A1

Mr. Clinton justified the clemencies by asserting that the sentences were disproportionate to the crimes. None of the petitioners, he stated, had been directly involved in crimes that caused bodily harm to anyone. "For me," the president concluded, "the question, therefore, was whether their continuing incarceration served any meaningful purpose."
His comments, including the astonishing claim that the FALN prisoners were being unfairly punished because of "guilt by association," were widely condemned as a concession to terrorists. Further, they were seen as an outrageous slap in the face of the victims and a bitter betrayal of the cops and federal law enforcement officers who had put their lives on the line to protect the public and who had invested years of their careers to put these people behind bars. The U.S. Sentencing Commission affirmed a pre-existing Justice Department assessment that the sentences, ranging from 30 to 90 years, were "in line with sentences imposed in other cases for similar terrorist activity."

  • DaveTheAngryRhodeIslander · 1 year ago
You bet your ass we're angry! I've been angry for 8 years now. It's funny how the pope can meet with a few victims of sexual abuse - that he previously directed to be suppressed - and suddenly seem to expect that everything is going to be hunky-dory now. Pope Ratzinger, ex-nazi youth, friend to rapist priests is sensing our anger. What a brilliant guy.
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
Ratzi the Nazi wont have to worry about "detecting" anger and alienation if he doesn't make some strong, public, and meaningful stand against the child molesters past and present in his clerical flock. There continues to be dissembling and foot-dragging by bishops and cardinals and the people wont stand for it. So come on Ratzi, enough of the dry academic talk, these foilks are waiting for YOU to talk turkey. I don't know if the Roman Ordinal has these lines, but I know the Anglican does: "Be to the flock of Christ a shepherd not a wolf, feed them, devour them not." The next move is up to you Ratzi!

Poor Hil is a spent force. No one cares whether or not she has any opinions about the Pope good or bad. I think she has already had a psychotic break which may be why she can only plow and replowe the small and shallow fields where she and her minions have found the odd scabs to pick at. All anyone wants to hear from the Racist-Liar-Monster and her whoremonger hubby is that she is ending her campaign.
