AMERICAblog: Possible future president Sarah Palin almost answers a question from a real reporter

  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
America doesn't need someone who can learn on the job.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
or in Palin's case, probably CANT learn on the job.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
Yeah, she doesn't even seem capable of learning.

(5 colleges in 6 years for a communications degree.)

Yes...72 years old and 4 bouts of serious Melanoma....all the more reason why Palin should release her medical records...but apparently McCain won't allow that either.

McCain Camp: No Palin Medical Records Till After The Election

    http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily...
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Grandma, did you follow that blog post back to the previous entry? Seems Sullivan had privately emailed a couple of folks he knew on teh McCain team to ask if Ms. Palin would confirm that Trig was really her son... the McCain team took those emails to Kurtz and another bozo to try and get them to do a smear on Sullivan... they printed the emails as part of their story.... and now the upshot is that Palin's medical records won't be released until after the election... Something tells me that the first rumors about Trig were true....

Anyway, now Sullivan is going to be a huge pain in the McCain / Palin ass.... LOL.
  • grandma · 1 year ago
Yes...I was following that.......Good for Sullivan, he's not gonna let McPalin get away with anything...lol

Palin seems sufficient enough to do "double speak". It takes a real reporter to nail the questions. I don't think much of Couric, literally, I don't think about her as any kind of professional journalist. And even if I did, she has proven in the past she is a Republican rube

So having said all that I would say she actually behaved like a real reporter in what few clips I have seen. Some may think this is a game of gotcha but the interviewing of Sarah Palin is of vital importance to this country. Voters need to know who this woman is, what she thinks and is she capable of running government.
  • blackwolf · 1 year ago
I agree with you about Couric. However, there seems to be an impatience growing among the MSM, no matter what side of the fence they're on. They're getting tired of McCain dodging the bullets. He's putting their credibility on the line, and they'll turn on him rather than allow that to happen.
  • devlzadvocate · 1 year ago
It didn't seem Couric had to do all that much. Palin did all of the damage herself. You could see the gears turning after each question, "Oh my gosh, what did they tell me to say if Couric asks this question?"

John McCain has a 'hero complex' that's been nurtured by those around him for years. He sees himself as grabbing up a pretty woman and heading off together, hand in hand, to conquer the world. Sad thing is, Palin knows this and will milk her 15 minutes for all it's worth. That's who she really is.....an empty pantsuit. (so to speak, of course.)
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
You hit the nail right on the head. He also has a victim complex. Seemingly at odds with a hero complex. But he plays the victim card in tandem with the hero thing frequently.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
Mark, the "hero" complex is one that was thrust on him and has been repeatedly burnished and pulled back into place as he tarnishes and rips at it. It's a mantle that he KNOWS he doesn't deserve. Deep down he's still that hot-headed, impulsive boy that fought against his father's and grandfather's legacies... The victim complex fits in nicely with the "poor, little rich boy" that has a family tradition and legacy that he didn't want to follow in, but did anyway "to please daddy and mommy"...

If you take a look at articles going way back to when he was first elected to congress, he happily plays the POW card when he's confronted with something he doesn't like or want to do... and I'll bet if you could look all the way back to his grade school and high school days he played the victim card back then as well... That's what bullies do...

Spot on. You must be a therapist or psychologist. I am not, but like Sarah Palin, I did sleep at a Holiday Inn once.....so...well you know the rest :-)

I hope some reporter asks Caribou Barbie if she has been involved in a sexual affair with another man while married to her husband. A simple yes or no will suffice.
Might be interesting to see how many have "laid hands" on Alaska's answer to Nanook of the North.
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
The Katie Couric interview is downright painful to watch.

Tough questions are like hand grenades to McCain.

He jumps right on them and shields Sarah every time.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
You've got to be kidding. The reality is he would throw Sarah on the granade to save himself.

I'm not an economist, but I do believe that we're growing. And I can remember this press conference here where people yelling "recession this, recession that" -- as if you're economists. And I'm an optimist. I believe there's a lot of positive things for our economy.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
This entire excersice today is an attempt to thwart the VP debates so they can keep Palin in a controled environment. Period. The McCain camp is freaking out because they did not vet her, and they now realize after several weeks, that she is a poor student on this stuff and will founder in front of the press and at the debates.

The McCain camp is in major panic mode, and it has nothing to do with the current economic crisis.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
That may be, but McCain hasn't been much better than Palin on questions and answers lately -- and that leaves the question: Who vetted McCain?
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
McShame opened Pandora's Box when he picked Palin. He would have been better off with LIE berman, at least LIE berman can talk in public. He is quite skilled at it, maybe he should be tapped as Sarah's puppeteer.
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
Is America on the brink of electing a President and Vice President who are less brilliant than Bush?
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
. . . and America would be enormously fortunate if she could almost become a real vice president. But not quite.
  • bumpkis · 1 year ago
I think we are seeing the final pages of a long running script being played out...McCain and Palin's existence on the national stage are just a distraction...I'm thinking national emergency, canceled elections, and martial law to put down the unrest that will certainly happen....
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
The Paulson bailout will cause financial collapse after Obama's inauguration triggering a military coup followed by a new constitutional convention leading to full Fascist government.. Never doubt the grandeur of Rovian dreams

    Nationalize the banks.

    Get out the guillotines.
  • vkobaya · 1 year ago
The real way to save the economy is to bail out the homeowners who are losing their homes to foreclosure. The money will circulate back into the economy as these people spend everything they get. If you give the money to the mortgage banks, most will be socked away or go into bonuses for the CEOs and executives. Very little will be spent on actual goods and services. $700 billion dollars that is actually spent by the American citizens will result not only in preventing a recession or depression but probably a massive, massive economic boom that may have lasting results for a decade or two or three. Of course, all that Bush intends is to further enrich his crooked buddies and doesn’t give a damn about the nation or its people. The wealthy, elite, powerful and corporate executives hate the people, as they fear that they will pull a French revolution with guillotines and blood running red in the streets. Actually, the exact opposite of their plans is the only way to prevent such a revolution and slaughter is to end the abuse of the American people, give them the pay, and benefits they deserve for their hard work and loyalty to the nation. In addition, the massive, massive economic boom will pay off for the rich who will become far, far richer than stealing that $700 billion dollars since the money actually circulating in the economy will multiply many times so that it will become $30-40 billion. Thus for the next several decades they will ensure that America remains the wealthiest nation in the world and the envy of the rest of the world.

Of course, need to spend some of that money on other things besides bailing out the homeowners. Must also rebuild our school system, infrastructure, healthcare and so much more. All that money will also circulate through the economy multiplying many times essentially doing the same as the bailout of the homeowners. A part, of course, will be honest, decent salaries and benefits respecting the workers who are the true productive members of the economy. If we put that $700 billion into the economy in this way, the wealthy, powerful and elite will be many times as wealthy as if they stole it as they intend ... and their wealth will have been honestly earned.

It’s too bad Obama lacks the vision of a true leader to implement this as do all the rest of the Damnocrats except maybe Kucinich or Nader. The reality is that the Damnocrats, including Obama, see themselves as members of the upper crust and apart from the American people as much as do the Republicans.

    Call it 'trickle-up economics'.
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
I don't want to freak everyone out. But . . . This is scary, but McCain's latest television clips today show a left eye that's drooping, and a wide right eye. Has he had a mini-stroke, or is this related to his melanoma, or what?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
If you look at his face closely you will see his left eye appears to be receding into his facial structure. Look closely and you will see his left eyebrow appears missing at the lower end OR there is a growth in that area. It is really hard to tell from television. Could this be an area where a melanoma was excised and possibly be scar tissue in the eyebrow area It would be interesting to compare his face now to a picture of 6 months or a year ago. He definitely has more lower left jaw swelling than in the past.

    So.... where's Karl?
  • Wild_Weasel · 1 year ago
Palin would be wise if she cribbed from Robert Reich's website:

    http://www.robertreich.blogspot.com/
  • bronco214 · 1 year ago
Her answer may have been along the lines of, "I've learned that you can not see all of Russia from Alaska." Sorry, but, am I the only one that thinks she is a pinhead who has floated too near the top?
John McSame had a $5,600 make up job?? Think the press will compare it to the laughable bs about Edwards $400 haircut? I like the comment about morticians making big bucks.
  • onemind · 1 year ago
bronco214...I'm reminded of what a friend of mine told a high ranking pentagon person he knows during a friendly disagreement. The pentagon official told my friend, "Say what you want but remember, cream rises to the top" to which my friend answered, "Just remember, cream isn't the only thing that floats."

I should watch the video of Palin with that devil casting pastor. I read about it this morning and it was appalling enough but if everything else said about it here is true, we are looking at a woman who would be better suited for the Spanish Inquisition. Isn't hers the same mentality we loathe in fundamentalist Islam? Fundamentalist Islamic culture meets fundamentalist Christian and fundamentally, there is not much difference between the two. Who cares if the names of their gods are spelled differently. The psychosis is the same in both.

Given the steadily eroding patience of Alaskans with the McCain campaign's takeover of their state government, what odds the state legislature will reconvene early -- well before the election -- to enforce the subpoenas, complete the investigation, and possibly even start an impeachment process?
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
someone just pointed out elsewhere that the affair Palin had, having been with one "Brad Hanson", doesn't explain the recent attempt to seal divorce papers by someone whose name is not Brad Hanson but "Scott Richter"...I never made a note of the 'quickie divorce sealing guy', whose request was denied, but does this mean that there is more than one ex-lover in Palin's married past? I suspect there are probably many. It wouldn't surprise me if she and Todd turn out to be swingers who have orgies in moose blood, actually, but the above mention of the now two usual suspects surprised me.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
It's more fun when Ms Palin speaks for herself. She's says comical stuff that she makes up on the spur of the moment. It's grand!
  • missmarple · 1 year ago
Yesterday, I watched the Pastor Thomas Muthee video and saw a little of it on Olberman last night . While just her association with this man makes her less than suitable - it's the rest of the video that should have us terrified. He wants the kids in our schools to become "Devil Chasers" running out anyone of a different religion, he wants a Born Again in the White House and he wants Born Agains in Hollywood to stamp out the Pornography that the current crop produce. Muthee then prays over her, with Todd holding her hand and Jesus is called upon to keep the "Devils" away from her. This is the same Pastor that Prayed her into the Mayors office and then the Governors. If Palin subscribes to these beliefs, she should not have been considered for VP in the first place. Is this what we want to possibly pick our Supreme Court Justices? Very Troubling. I think in picking her to show his Maverickness - McCain got more than he bargained for. Cindy had better take good care of him if he wins this election.
