AMERICAblog: Powell says crazy Michelle Bachman helped him decide to endorse Obama

  • loona_c · 1 year ago
The very republican Houston Chronicle has endorsed Obama/Biden today. As they say, "...for just the second time since 1960 we are endorsing a Democrat for president." This is the paper that has endorsed George W. twice, Dole, George H.W. twice, Reagan twice, Ford, Nixon twice, Johnson (oops a Dem, well okay, he's a Texan) and Nixon again (vs. Kennedy).

I loved this. So concise and well put. Every Republican ought to read these words. I was seriously anti-Powell after his yellow cake fiasco in front Congress, but this redeems him in a big way. Not entirely, but a huge step. Well done.

I'm amazed, simply amazed, at the McSame supporters at his rally BOOING the fact that Barack Obama wants to distribute some of the wealth back to THEM! They are so twisted in their undying devotion to McSame. I'll be happy to take their share; they obviously don't want it!

wwwhoooo hooooo in your face, bachman... you facist pig...
  • lost_nacf_gop · 1 year ago
Well, General, this goes a great distance in atoning for your asinine performance in front of the U.N. in Feb. 2003 - but you've still got a ways to go to pay down that debt, so keep pushing.
  • mother_bottom · 1 year ago
    AGREED!!!

The General has lots of mea culpa's to deliver before I take anything she says with a grain of salt. SHAME ON YOU, GENERAL POWELL -- liar, liar, uncle tom on fire.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
He done good today; now if I could only forget virtually every other pronouncement from him since 1965. . . .

i never would have guessed that i would ever watch a woman take a dump, then along came ms. bachman who pooped the bed on live tv unlike anything i have ever seen. i was pissed that matthews did not take her on as agressive as he can be with other guests - then realized that he did not need to - he gave her a piece of rope - and she hung herself -- poop included. i can only hope her opponent can turn this into victory.

girls, we need to see a landslide - the republican party is in tatters - no unity - no game plan. we must take back the country together in a few weeks. the enema is coming girls, and people with an r next to their names will be washed away!!!!

love to all on a beautiful fall week end. love and magic, MB

I was watching and knew exactly where Matthews was leading her!

    Michelle Bachman is toast.

She and her fellow sister-fascist in arms, Sarah Palin, have a great career as cast members of "The Real Wives of Dumbass County."

She helped me decide what to have for breakfast this morning: Oreos. She wouldn't shut up about them. I may have stifled her with a fine goose-down pillow, after. Not sure. Oreos effect my memory, sometimes. Oh, no, wait: She went out for more Oreos.

You can contribute to DCCC, if they raise a 100,000 they will expand the campaign to help defeat this sad excuse for a government servant.

I think there is even a 2-1 match
  • tofubo · 1 year ago
i would like to think the DCCC's 1st and only commitment would be to defeat sad excuses for a government servant

It is refreshing to hear someone from the Republican side of the "aisle" say these things. Today on Fox News, McCain had the gall to say that there was nothing wrong with his Robocalls and that they were different than the ones from 2000. I know that it has been said before but does the man have no honor? I lost any respect for him when he buckled under to the administration and allowed the CIA to use "enhanced interrogation techniques, i.e. waterboarding". For a prisoner of war in the Hanoi Hilton to allow this. He is a sack of shit.

I commented on a post on TPM Friday about the esteemed Congresswoman from MN that perhaps she should form a committee to investigate these unAmerican members of the "Left", she could name it the House UnAmerican Activities Committee (HUAC) and bring back Sen. McCarthy and prop him up like Weekend at Bernies. I thought there were some lunatics down here in Texas where I am, but the good people of Minnesota have one they can call their own.

It has been refreshing to see so much $ be donated to Ms. Bachmann's opponent in her reelection race, hopefully the people of her district will make her a one term member of the House of Rep's.

I certainly hope that Obama gets more than 350 electoral votes. This would be the back breaker that the McCain campaign deserves and should finally make him irrelevant for the future. It is only a shame that his Senate seat wasn't up for grabs and that Gov. Napolitano could have won that seat. I am sure that Barry Goldwater will turn over in his grave when his seat in the Senate goes to the Democrats.

I hope the Democrats will step on the heads of Johnnie and his f#$k buddy Joe Lieberman on November 5th. Squash them like bugs.

Just kidding about the pillow. That was an accident.

    The Oreo's were for real.

Great thinkering, Powell, you are still a war criminal, and your son remains one of the most damaging and destructive instruments of the conservatards on our free press in the history of the nation.
    Heck of a legacy, Colin.
  • nsr · 1 year ago
Sorry, I really wish I could care about this. I mean, it might even be important. Maybe if Powell had resigned instead of being fired...by the way, his son? With the FCC? No use for him either.

Someone commented yesterday on the "Powell Haters". I don't hate him. But he gave his full measure for a huge, bloody lie, and sacrificed every scrap of integrity he had when he humiliated our nation at the UN. You can't just pretend that didn't happen, or that it doesn't speak volumes about what kind of person he is. He screwed us, folks. I don't hate him for it, but if he's going to go on as if he's some kind of respectable public figure, whose opinions matter any more than mine, I just don't see it. I mean, does the fact that he's now for Obama excuse all that?

I am not sure how many on Ablog remember the early fifties, but this talk by Bachman is too close to the red scare by the communist hunters and the blackest time in our history. Shame on her and any who agree with her. We should start calling her Joe McCarthy.
  • Older_Wiser · 1 year ago
I could care less about Powell's endorsement. I'd like to think this was a good mea culpa, but it took the Fascist Bachmann's remarks to push him over to Obama?

Christ, what has this country come to when it has to be on the precipice of total disaster before you examine your own politics?
  • ekwhite · 1 year ago
Powell is certainly worthy of criticism, but don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Whatever it took, we have his endorsement. I think we are on the verge of a realignment like the 1930's - the Republican free market ideology is dead. Colin Powell realizes this and is jumping on the Obama train.

I always wondered how Michelle Bachman could pass the entry test and get through law school. Then I found out she graduated from Oral Roberts University. Maybe if McCain is elected, he could put her on the Bush Supreme Court, then Minnesota would be rid of her.

This is marvelous! It adds new fuel to the fire around the Bachmann debacle! Blank Stare Barbie might just go down to defeat in Fargo! Amen!

This is really giving progressives in Minnesota, and in Bachmann's district, something to work with. From the comments section on the Dump Bachmann blog:

"There is a MN GOP banquet scheduled for this Thursday, 10/23, of which Pawlenty and Bachmann are honorary cochairs. Kline, Coleman and Rudy Giuliani are also named on the invitation. I just wrote the state GOP and Pawlenty to ask whether it is appropriate for Bachmann, given her extremist, McCarthyist views, to share the dais at a major party event. You can reach the state GOP and the governor at:

That was a great exposition of why to vote for Obama. I'm glad that Colin Powell came out for Obama.
  • mungobuh · 1 year ago
Is it just me, or does Michelle Bachmann look and seem just like Shirley Phelps Roper? You know: the unapologetically evil statements and the crazy, hollowed-out-looking eyes. Back me up here.
  • TXfemmom · 1 year ago
Bachman looks like that crazy witch from Florida who stole the election in 2000.

All of us need to be extra vigilant and make sure our vote counts.

Crazy Michelle: The President and I have a great political relationship... I spoke on Friday with Karl Rove and that's good for the people of Minnesota!!!! (dated, but craaaaaaaazeeee!)

great example of framing, on the teevee shows that have shown parts of this clip, they've put up the beginning regarding the 'problems' and the end of it regarding 'socialism', but i have yet to see any reference about bachmann's comments

Personally, I used to respect/admire Powell, but I am not so sure about him anymore. He is clearly intelligent, but has made some seriously bad decisions in the past. I would have prefered that he stayed out of this election. However, he is right about 1 thing at least: This Anti-American rhetoric is nonsense.
