AMERICAblog: Quietly, Obama Campaign Calls In The Cavalry

  • JMOHR · 1 year ago
Well, it looks like Obama's campaign is finally moving in the right direction. I can understand the desire to change American politics to a new direction and agree with it. However, it will not happen overnight. This is really a little bit more like deterring nuclear warfare. There must be massive retaliation when someone uses the first nuke. The last two elections proved exactly how well a strategy worked when the Democrats laid down their arms. Let us hope it is not too late to make up lost ground now.

With all due respect, John A, I fear the worst and it may be too late. The MSM has already, at corporate HQ, decided to annoint Grandpa and Missy Mooseshit to keep the corporate status quo. As powerful as the blogs have become, I fear that, even with all that has grown here since 2000, the country is full of real idiots who are getting their "mal-info" from TV. Between shitty commercial spots and the Fox news anchors on ALL the networks, we may be treading water here online. Americans of progressive thinking...it is over. Your nation has been stolen from you. And it may only be a matter of time before all these postings will come to haunt us as sedition, as treason, against the great white father Bush-Cain. The lowlife idiots won the day, as puppeteered by Exxon and Pfizer and NBC. It is time for us to look to emigrating away from here.

I'm not ready to jump on board that boat yet, but I can see it in the harbor! I swear to God, this country is so stupid, so "Am Idol" oriented. As reluctant as I am to say this, I think Palin was a stroke of genius on someone's part. I have coworkers who have never voted before who are so excited about her. I ask why and they have the same answer: "she's real" "she's one of us" blah blah. My comments fall on deaf ears. Usually when I reply with some negatives about her (and I don't go the family route, I go the issues route), I get "you're just scared now because she's the same as Obama". WTF?? It makes me want to go screaming from the room.

But these same people say they are going to vote and before 2 Friday's ago, they could have cared less. From a country perspective? Totally and utterly disastrous choice. From a political perspective, while it could remain to be seen, right now it's pure genius.

And THAT just pisses me off.

p.s. I just sent a rather fire-y email to the Obama campaign telling them to get off their ass and FIGHT....(ok I didn't use the word ass, but it was strongly worded, haha)
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    I wrote to Obama, too.

2 months before the finish line - we HAVE to bring down McCain/Palin and take back our country.

Obama staff people who read this - come on fight. FIGHT BACK STRONG!

And start using the word LIE against the republicons!
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
I'm still ready for one hell of a fight. I will not give up on my country that easily, not yet at least!

are there any countries accepting Americans these days? seriously. i know Canada has a mile-long waiting list...
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
YOu can go on canada's website and get a score...tell them your gay...that helps
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
Well, I suppose that I could adopt you - or marry you (hey male or female, it's all good in Canada - same sex marriage, universal health care, no government spying, elections that last only 6 weeks and bacon, ummmmm bacon - heaven - and we kick your ass in hockey and in the War of 1812).
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
I will opt for marrying a hockey player...
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    you're a gem! i heart Canada.
  • Bostonian_Queer_in_Dallas · 1 year ago
Yes...Canada is not anxious for this exodus. My mom was Canadian and even I
am having trouble with paperwork. Perhaps it really IS time to own a gun.
Fairly easy here in Texas. They sell them at Walmart down the street. We all
may need them sooner than later.
  • BarbaraGordon · 1 year ago
I don't think it is too late provided that we see Obama starting fighting. I am in Florida and am being bombarded daily with the same McCain tv ad. There are 7 viewings for every 1 Obama ad. What is going on? This is a major battleground state. I expected to be seeing tons of Obama ads. They cannot sit back and take the high road; Americans are too stupid for that. You need to spoon feed them the soundbites.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Obama needs money! I have given a few days ago, but we are giving more today.
  • curlytoes79 · 1 year ago
John, why don't you bump up your post on donations to Obama - i don't think we reached the $50K mark yet.
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
Just checked - the donations sit at just over $35K, not bad for a bunch of people that watch Star Trek and lve in their mothers' basements Joe Scarborough!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
There is honor in not striking first.
And there is honor in defending yourself when you're attacked.

I admire Obama for how he has handled things AND I believe there is too much at stake to just stand by. Now let's get down to it.

FINALLY! It's about time Obama played tough, I'm only sorry it came as late as it has. Well, let's hope that this can help turn the tides.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Geez, I'm sorry, I just saw that Disqus posted one of my comments twice. It sure looks like something is wrong with the system today...
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
One thing we all have admit is that Palin didn't know what a VP does which means that 60% of americans don't either. They also don't see the connection between someone who voted for the policies of the guy who bankrupted us and the guy who says he is going to change. What Rove's pick has done is appeal to the "Everyman" syndrome. They appealed to the average moron in America and said you can be a Vice President too. there is no embarassment in letting your 16 year old get knocked up. There is nothing wrong with lying. Nothing wrong with getting rid of people who won't do what you say, nothing wrong with banning books and nothing wrong with making a hero out of the kid who impregnated your daughter. America has become the Jerry Springer Show. What no one is saying much of is that a lot of the so called support Palin has comes from the same crowd who would never vote for a black man. They can pledge their love for all things Palin and never have to get close to their prejudice and bigotry. The same applies her feelings on homosexuality, they love her because she can say all that and not fear retribution. In essence they are living vicariously through her and religious insanity. I am worried. Unlike Bostonian Queer, I can return to Canada freely. I really can' t imagine how destructive McCain/Palin will be on the future of this country. We have not travelled very far as a country and the "McCain/Palin bridge does lead to nowhere"
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
I see lots of white flags in these comments...why is everyone so blah???
I am excited and looking forward to a fight...are yall doing anything other than worrying and fretting on here???
This is truly a grassroots effort--get your asses busy.
    1. Donate to Obama
    2. Send links to articles on here to friends/family
    3. Make sh*t up and email--did you know they eat small children and handle serpents at Palin's church?
    4. Write letters to local editors and focus on McCain--his sealing of POW records, pushing old ladies in wheelchairs, divorce, etc...remind them there are juicy stories out there to cover.
    5. Focus on idiot issues--like the house fiasco--the sheeple love this crap
I created a primitive website where you can get McCain's address to mail housekeys to www.housekeysformccain.blogspot.com
    6. Volunteer--there are lots of people out there that would vote for Obama but just need encouraging. Find your local campaign.

This is one election I am not going to sit out.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
    Oh yes...and another good one.
Go to mainstream press websites and click on negative stories about McCain and Palin, get your friends to do so too. This will make them put them out front--higher viewership gets more coverage.
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
Here's one NEGATIVE story on Palin:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080909/ap_on_el_pr...

"Palin reportedly used state money for travel while at home"
  • FunMe · 1 year ago
    You hit it right on!

"Focus on idiot issues" - yup, talk the DUMB down way to the American idiots. If that's what it takes, I'm all for it.

Why do you think I go to Perez Hilton and talk politics there.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
What we really need though is an affair.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
You know, I do some of what you mentioned but you had some great ideas I hadn't thought of. I like the "make sh*t up" line, true, sometimes that's what the respond to and it puts it out there for all to see. And I didn't think about looking for the negative article and clicking on them to drive up the clickthru numbers.

I also send emails all the time to the 'contact us' portions of websites, news media especially, and tell them to cover the truth and don't hide behind the lies.

Anyway, thanks for some new ideas. I'm off to post! Snakehandlers and eating children, I love it! (I'll think of something new, haha).
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
The media fixation on the popular vote nationally is misleading and they do it to make the race seem closer. The popular vote is not the issue (as Al Gore knows all too well) - the electoral college votes are the only thing that counts. Obama is well ahead in this regard as Plouffe has said today:
    http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2008/09/08/politic...
These guys are no dummies, and will concentrate their money in those battleground states they need to win. They are the best run political operation to come along in decades. That being said, this stuff costs big bucks. Think of it as an investment in your future.
  • BarbaraGordon · 1 year ago
Forgive me for repeating myself but I am temporarily in Florida, a major battleground state. I have seen tons of McCain ads to the point that I can repeat them image for image but have seen very few Obama ads. The ones I have seen are blah and too smart. They need to be more hard-hitting and blunt like the one I saw online calling McCain/Palin liars. I hope that you are right and that Obama is spending in battleground states but, as I said, I haven't seen any evidence of it here in FL.
  • moreleesafer · 1 year ago
i go to fithirtyeight.com. it gives me daily peace to see us up in the electoral votes and winning.

I have hoped that all along Obama knew what he was doing. Maybe he had the 527 folkshold back the funding until he saw what the GOP was up to. Now that we know they were going to lie and steal our strategies...maybe they know that Americans need to be spoon fed their soundbites and so they can not use the 527 money to grab attention in the last 2 months. i sure hope so.

I was listening to Air America yesterday, the sub for Randhi Rhodes - forget the name.

He said instead of complaining about the polls from Monday, do something! Don't complain, do something!

I'm strategizing with my friend what to do - some ideas we definitely will be doing is writing our friends, family & networks. Many of them aren't necessarily doing anything to help get a Democrat elected. We MUST impress on them how much more disaster we will have if we let McSame steal the election.

We HAVE to win and we WILL win if we do our part.

Anyway, in addition to emails/letters - I think letters to editor will help too.

I plan to keep posting the LIES of the PAIN of Palin/McCain to as many NON-POLITICAL BLOGS as I can. Yes, I am not embarassed to say, I will even go to some of the celebrity gossip pages (it's "Fun") where many "flyover" state people keep beliving the LIES of the republiCONs.

But more importantly what I will be doing is helping states outside of mine (California) who truly need my help in making phone calls.

We WILL win if we all do our part!

WHEN, for God's sake, are the DEBATES?????
  • Milli · 1 year ago
Thank god!!! I know it was a nice, idealistic vision that he had - to not use these groups - but Sarah Palin changed everything. She has a boatload of dirt that needs to be exposed.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
Im not anti religion really, but I can't believe that we will elect a vice president who is a snake handler/speaker of tounges. It just don't float.

Bring back the 527 for the Democrats!

Bring back the 527 for the Democrats!

Meanwhile, I will spread the LIES about Palin. Those seem to work more.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
good. Obama and Biden have picked up the pace...
now every surrogate dem needs to get on the teevee...
you don't need more money or a 527 to do this:

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/09/09/obama-...
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
GOP talking point. Expect it: Barack Obama's campaign, down in every poll, is flailing and panicking. By reviving 527s, after vowing not to, Obama is engaging in the politics of smear and fear that he once claimed he would rise above.
  • CaenAshlar · 1 year ago
I want to know the names of those who advised Obama to defund the 527s so we can taser these fucks and along with john kerry and his team of losers. But the responsibility has to lie with Obama. He is responsible for his decisions and his team. The despicable Richard Cohen was on the mark in his column in todays Post titled - Too Cool to Fight. He just does not seem to care and does not show much passion
  • AdmNaismith · 1 year ago
Dems can play the game as hard as Reps without getting dirty. They just have to slam the Reps with the gods-awful truth. Slam, slam, slam. Telling the truth is never dirty, but not winning while the opposition lies, lies, lies is just stupid.
  • smallhandff · 1 year ago
Financial parity achieved, in part, because McCain is accepting public financing & Obama opted out of it. Of course no one is mentioning that McCain's public financing is illegal. However that is olde stuff.
  • Upland_Oddball · 1 year ago
Please John and the others at AmericaBLOG, identify those 527s that are best poised to quickly respond to McCain/Palin with smart, effective, spot-on ads and other campaign weapons. I want to inform the Obama campaign that I am not happy with their Children's Crusade respnse to the GOP's Panzer and napalm assault in the only way they listen, to give my fiancial backing to one or more 527s that will do the job. It is utterly ridiculous that I am doing a better job of getting the truth about McCain and Palin into the streets (meaning into the local paper and its message and coments boards) than the multimillion dollar Obma/Biden camp is. We are blowing any chance for a tranformative election. Obama cannot win an election with just a smile. He needs to show teeth and show them all the time. Preferably, with pieces of McCain caught between them!
