AMERICAblog: Redoubt keeps erupting

  • Lynne · 9 months ago
I hope this baby gets done spitting up pretty soon. We are scheduled to fly into Anchorage in mid-May. We have been looking forward to this trip for ages and I will be really sad to have to postpone or have it canceled.

    OT:

If this is successful, the United States might have their hands forced to follow the lead of Spain.

"A senior Spanish judge has ordered prosecutors to investigate whether key Bush aides should be charged with crimes over the Guantanamo Bay detention center, a lawyer said Sunday...

It names Gonzales -- who was President George W. Bush's counsel when the Guantanamo Bay detention center was established -- and other top Bush administration officials John C. Yoo, Douglas J. Feith, William J. Hayes II, Jay S. Bybee and David S. Addington."

I saw this and was very disappointed that Cheney and Bush were not included.

I get earthquake alerts. There have been many, many in California in the last week or so. Most of them small, but a few a little larger. Along with Redoubt, I'm very concerned.

jindal has taken some of the shine off of the rhodes scholarships. similar to what bush did to the yale degree.
  • vkobaya · 9 months ago
Is it really true that Jindal is a Rhodes scholar? Of is this more of the Republican bullshit about the academic credentials of members of their party? They claimed all sorts of academic honors for Gonzales and Harriet Miers too. Gonzales impresses me as someone who got a law degree from some small commercial school and Miers degree came from the same school as a friend of mine sends her dogs to for obedience training and housebreaking.

The biographies that were on Wikipedia are completely different now for those two than they were several years ago. Used to claim both graduated summa cum lauda from prestigious schools like Yale and Harvard. As for Bush's academic credentials, we know his father's money bought his passing grades and eventual degrees.

Jindal also majored in Biology at Brown. Not sure how he passed his classes unless he has a creationist for political reasons.

Has anyone said yet how strong this eruption is on the VEI scale?
  • tomtallis · 9 months ago
The Rhodes Scholarship people need to demand their money back from Jindal.

CNN reporting another Sunday morning mass murder...this one in North Carolina. What is it about Sunday mornings?

    On a Sunday morning sidewalk,
I'm wishing, Lord, that I was stoned.
'Cause there's something in a Sunday
That makes a body feel alone.
And there's nothing short a' dying
That's half as lonesome as the sound
    Of the sleeping city sidewalk
    And Sunday morning coming down.

The god Sauron that lives in Mt. Redoubt will not be appeased until Bobby Jindal is dropped into the volcano's eye.

    That's what it's all about.

    Takers?

I've lived on the West Coast for the greater part of my life and one thing you take seriously is the fact that it is a part of The Ring of Fire and that means earthquakes and volcanoes. It may seem to some that an exploding volcano is something that happened in the time of the dinosaurs. I have one name for that element - Mt. St. Helen! I live near Rainier it's been quiet for a long time but it doesn't mean that it's going to stay that way.

I'm wondering if the GOP pissed off Ma Nature because this Alaskan Volcano is very timely!

Rhodes scholarship notwithstanding, what would you expect of someone who'd sanction and participate in an exorcism? If he and the temptress ofthe tundra are the GOP's first team it looks like a good season for progressives.

Jindal's not stupid. He knows it's important to monitor volcanoes. But, for heaven's sake, why did he think American voters were too stupid to know it too?
  • cowboyneok · 9 months ago
Because he surrounds himself with Republican voters.
  • unrepentant_expat · 9 months ago
Mt Baker is less than twenty miles from my front porch. i do hope that someone is monitoring that monster. It has buried this region in metres of ash on more than a few occasions.

"Future eruptions could result in rapid melting, mobilizing loose volcanic material into deadly mudflows."

Man if I was you I would be trying to find out ASAP who is monitoring that bad boy.....

Jindal's willing to screw Louisianans to run for President and he's willing to put us all at greater risk of disaster just to make himself look like a good conservative.

His ambition is clearly in conflict with his responsibilities as governor.

He should resign or promise not to run for higher office.

His legal name is Piyush Jindal, not Bobby. The name on Piyush Jindal's birth certificate is: पीयूष "बॉबी" जिन्दल. I wonder why those GOP folks who didn't like Barack Obama's "foreign sounding name" don't have any problem with "Piyush Jindal." At least President Obama uses his real name. Hypocrites! "Bobby" is a pseudonym he literally stole from a Brady Bunch kid he saw on television. He hasn't had his name legally changed any more than Republican male prostitute James Dale Guckert had a right to be legally known as Jeff Gannon in the White House press room. We should start referring to him as Governor Piyush Jindal. He was born a Hindu and is now a Catholic fundamentlist. Not only does Piyush Jindal hate volcano monitoring, he hates the unemployed and poor of Louisiana, latex condoms, gay people, and all non-Catholics (especially Protestants): http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/8/21/121...
Piyush Jindal's writings refer to Protestant's as: "scandalous, depraved, selfish and heretical."
पीयूष "बॉबी" जिन्दल, also known as Piyush Jindal, does love whore monger David Vitter and the pedophile enabling and Nazi embracing Roman Catholic Church.
