OT, but bushco is having a bad, bad week. The DOJ shit is hitting the fan. This was a big part of Karl Rove's plan for a 'permanent Republican majority' and it just may land him in jail.

GOOD! And yes, it does put Obama in an odd (read AWKWARD) position. Hopefully, this might just help make Obama reconsider his support of the bill.

reid is a phony. he puts the bill up for a cloture vote when he could have delayed it. he says that he is voting against it but will not ask the other dems to vote against it. it is another ploy to look good by doing nothing. he is one of the weakess majority leaders that has ever run the senate. he needs to be replaced or retire. i would like to see both. this fisa bill is almost certain to past and by a large majority. this is sick

Is there anything to the theory that the bill is poorly written and leaves the door open for prosecution later? This was brought up on Olbermann with John Dean the other night. It seems risky or perhaps brilliant but I am not sure I really understand their position.
The DOJ stuff looks promising.

Umm, why do we still have Reid as our Majority Leader? Does anyone really like him? Besides the Republicans, I mean. He'll vote against it for expediency, but he obviously doesn't have the balls to vote against cloture. Can we get a Senator with at least one ball to lead us? Is that really too much to ask? We have a majority, but we can't even sustain a filibuster against legislation we oppose. And the Republicans can pass pretty much anything they want with a minority. Am I crazy or is it just my party that's crazy?

So what's a girl to do? And Obama has just broken my heart on this. I bought the hype. I did. I believed the speeches. And I am 51. Silly, Pollyanna me. So sad.

reid said that he must move the bill forget for the majority of the members that want it. he is such a phony. i always think that he works for the republican , as in republican lite. he makes it look good and then vote for it anyway. he needs to be voted out of office, retire or replaced. any or all ot them would be nice. he is such a weak leader. he never fights for the people. this is another reason to limit their terms. this fisa bill will pass cloture and will pass by a large vote. we will destroy the 4th amendment for politicans to keep their jobs. and that is what they are doing, keeping their jobs. vote for a new person every 6 or 12 years. we need all of them replaced. the fisa bill is a sin and the dems are a sad lot.

OK, Coast is doing a tribute to George Carlin with a two hour interview with Art from back in 99. Start with clip 1, of course:
The Democrats seem to love reverting back to bad habits. They think one has to go centrist, DLC, middle of the road - but they fail to open their eyes to reality.
You can't say you are for "change" and then do things that go against the fourth amendment and the US constitution.
You can't say you are for "change" and say you are against FISA's immunity for law breaking telecoms and then say you are for it.
I have been sad with Obama's statement last week. I also lost my enthusiasm.
I hope he CHANGES and realizes he has to vote NO on FISA.
Not showing this leadership will make supporters lose not only enthusiasm but also the excitement to go vote for him.

At&T Its employees, managers. and CEO's can all go die. We had a local provider SBC they gave us good phone service. Then AT&T comes in and buys them out. Not only were we stuck into a more expensive plan there service sucks and blows at the same damn time. We could have gotten better telcom service in Myanmar! Then to add insults to the mix they move about 1000 good jobs out of the area. We switched to Comcast and not have twice the service and better quality. I hope AT&T ends up bankrupt. They can kiss my skinny white bikers ass if they think I am paying the 60$ connection fee they added on!

I already have written to Obama and told his campaign that unless and until he votes DOWN the FISA bill, they won't get a cent more from our family. I don't usually like taking an argument to that point, but if Obama votes for FISA, he has lost my heart for good.

Sorry Incog, but it is the truth. Now that doesn't mean I won't vote for him come November, but our family will most likely hold back in financing the campaign any further. Obama can't be the candidate of change and vote FOR a bill that trashes our 4th Amendment rights. That is clear.

I learned the most profound truth. I was told not to reveal it but I did to my partner and he hasn't said anything. He doesn't understand it. He was a catholic priest. Hugely religious. I stay away from him on ass Wednesday when he appears with a ash dot on his forehead. He's totally in an outta body experience right then. Actually, I stay away from him most of the time but I have a feeling he's going to show up soon and lie around and watch the movies I've got for a few months. Then he's off. He's early retired so he doesn't have to be "in the world" anymore. He wants me to just quit what I'm doing which he considers pointless and move around with him. There's no way I'm going to just quit what I'm doing for someone who has mental problems and depend on him for anything. I'm happy like this.
OK, something tells me I need to contact him. So I just did. I wont do it by cell phone but by email. He doesn't carry around a laptop. So he'll find it in an internet cafe somewhere...

nasch: I hope it works out that way. I'll get behind Obama so long as he does what is right and CONSTITUTIONAL. The first time he pisses on the Constitution I'll never support him again. Let's hope you're right and when the dust clears on FISA and Obama stands tall. This is his first big test - is he for real or is he just another paid off politician. A true leader, a true Democrat would stand up and tell these criminal bastards that they'll face indictment if crimes have been committed, etc. Enough of the lies. We've had 8 years of lies.
red_dwarf

Obama does not appear to have "what it takes" to be a great leader, mediocre, perhaps. Sitting by the BS fake presidential seal the other day said a lot to me - how phony can you get? This is not the time for f***** games. If Obama wants to vote for the FISA bill yet retain jurisdiction over those who have committed crimes then why doesn't he say so? If he is helping to cover up the crimes of Democrats then run and hide Obama.
To be a great leader takes courage, determination and intelligence. If Obama lets these criminals off the hook he can kiss my support goodbye. Obama has a chance to be a great leader - and it appears he is already taking the low road. Stand tall Obama, stand up and do what is right, no matter what the minority rat bastards in this country think. You want to be a mediocre president? Then keep on the same track you're on. Now if he follows through on his support for this, he eats away at his base, which of course, includes me. If he gets behind the fillabuster he begins to look like a weak, two faced politician, who exercised bad judgment. Today, Obama looks like just another two faced politician, with perhaps a better turn of phrase then most, who would sell out his mother to get elected. He doesn't have my back, he doesn't have yours because he doesn't have a back himself.
