AMERICAblog: Remember, the only reason we know about Bristol Palin's pregnancy is because John McCain leaked it to Reuters

  • drd1950 · 1 year ago
Here's my question about the Palin daughter's pregnancy. She's 17. The father is 18. Are there no laws against statutory rape in Alaska? Remember the poor kid in Georgia who was sentenced to a long stretch in prison because he got oral sex from his girlfriend? What does Governor Palin think about enforcing the rape laws in Alaska?

    hmmm....good question.

That's been settled; 16 is the age of consent in AK. Levi and Bristol fucked, yes, let's say it loud and clear, fucked legally. Their fucking is also OK with the Christian Right since has resulted in a holy fetus. It's Life! And all parents deal with it, which is why it's OK! John McCain's spox said so!

    Alaska

First-degree sexual abuse of a minor for someone age 16 or older to engage in sexual penetration with someone under age 13.

Second-degree sexual abuse of a minor for someone age 16 or older to engage in sexual penetration with someone who is age 13, 14, or 15 and at least three years younger than the offender.

Fourth-degree sexual abuse of a minor for someone under age 16 to engage in sexual penetration with someone under age 13 and at least three years younger.

Umm... Considering that Palin supposedly "leaked" amniotic fluid 5000 miles from Texas to Alaska, supposedly the 18th of April, supposedly for 9+ hours... Maybe "leaked" isn't "le mot juste." ;-)

    Schadenfreude.

The Rethugs are crying for privacy? It doesn't get any better than this This Republican party is FILLED with Corrupt white trash-perverts-child molesters-drug addicted crooks that look for sex under any rock (or toilet stall) they can find! You can't make this stuff up! AND ALL IN THE NAME OF GOD!
I'd say they better get on their knees and pray - but they'd probably think that was foreplay!

    HAAAAHAAAAAAHAAAAA!

God, I am dizzy from all this GOP spin. They have been in spin mode since the announcement of Palin. I can only hope they are getting tired OR running out of ways to dispute McCain's judgment on this issue.
  • jcgraham77 · 1 year ago
This is way beyond spin...you can tell by the deer in the headlight looks on their faces--they are really speechless and blubbering whatever their little brains can come up with. Did anyone catch Larry King the other night? It was too much--they literally looked like McCain had picked Mickey Mouse and they were trying to cover his ass... I am just relishing in it. It is like a big ole chocolate cake covered in ice cream and hot fudge.

If this issue was reversed and the minor daughter of a Democratic VP candidate was pregnant, those Bible-beating Jesus freaks on the right would be screaming that this is just another example of failed liberal policies, ergo: Democrats cannot be trusted to run the country.

McCain, Palin, and their ilk want nothing better than to shove their moralistic social beliefs down the throat of every American. They made this an issue and now what do we get: boo hoo hoo from Republicans, stop picking on the poor girl, show the family some privacy.

Tough!! If a 17 year old out-of-wedlock pregnant girl is bad, then either Palin failed as a mother or the neo-fascist polices of the Conservativies failed to instill the morals they so preciously cherish and want us all to believe are superior to Democrats. Either way, both are not fit to run this country.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    perfectly said.

the double-standard issue is what bugs me.

I don't give a shit if Bristol is pregnant... but if you're going to preach your moral values to me and force them on me, maybe you should make sure you're living up to them first?

so true, if this was a Dem the GOP/chri$tian right would be screaming about how the collapse of the family/gay rights/ and loss of morals in America were reflected in the VP choice.

McCain claims he knew about Bristol's pregnancy before he named Sarah Palin as his running mate. Am I the only one who doesn't believe him? Or is this just too obvious and not worth pointing out that he is lying yet again. Bush is a congenital liar, but beginning to either a congenital condition among Republicans or else a requirement to be a member of the Republican party. ... or they must sign a contract in blood with their Dark Prince never, never to tell the truth, Satan removes their ability to tell the truth.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
Maybe he did know. McCain met Palin once -- last Spring. Bristol got pregnant last Spring. Then, Palin gets picked for VP. Do I need to connect the dots here?
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
I think he knew there was dirt. I'm very much leaning toward the possibility that he wanted Lieberman all along. There is an amazing episode of Bernie Mac, one of the best half hours of teevee you will ever watch, where Bernie teaches his young nephew to play chess. The kid wants a paintball gun and Bernie lectures him about how chess is much more fun because it's strategic and 'you get to use people's own nature against them'. The kid picks up on it faster than Bernie expected, has Bernie come to a playground where the kid's friends ambush Bernie with paintball pellets, and then Bernie pics up a gun and starts firing away, and really gets into it, and wants to continue playing paintball. The kid used Bernie's nature against him. I just have to wonder did McCain hold Palin out in front of us like shark bait, to further his aim of getting Lieberman, so he can have his veep of choice and get to paint liberals as predatory for having savaged her? Sigh...

Oh John, you and your quaint ideas about facts and consistent logic...

Really, just listen to any one of these rabid Palin defenders for 10 seconds and you quickly learn just how detached from reality these fanatics are. I heard some of them being interviewed this morning on my local public radio station. They refused to answer any questions the interviewer raised about Palin and instead charged full tilt with their talkilng points. They are cut off from all reality outside of their cult group and their cult narratives.

We have entered the age of the Soviet-style, American political ideologue.

That is an excellent point John. Damn, the angles you've been looking at and framing this whole VP pick are spot on. The fact that the MSM hasn't picked up on the Bristol's "choice" subject is proof that they still don't give a shit. This VP pick wants choice when it suits her. Anyways... good job!

Any word on what dr. Laura thinks of this? Come on, you want to know, I want to know, I think everybody here wants to know. Seeing that you took that fraud down once before I'm wondering if you're pursuing dr. Laura's opinion on this.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
Bristol's "choice"... marry your boyfriend and have the baby, or we'll put him in jail for rape.
  • scottinsf · 1 year ago
That could well be Jeff. I won't speculate on that.

I know you and most people here know what I'm really talking about, but for the sake of those just joining us I'll explain:

"We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby," she and her husband said in their official statement. If the choice was between keeping the baby or putting it up for adoption and giving him/her a better chance at life with loving people fully prepared to be parents, fine.

That's not the case though. As the minor child of Sarah Palin, Bristol was apparently given a choice. It was not a matter of adoption at all. The official statement would've said "keep" not "have". These statements are not put out or worded lightly.

    That's all.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
John... I'm not sure that's the real issue here.

I think the real issue is why isn't the MSM pushing UNWED TEEN pregnancy?

think about it, two words that get the religious right into a tizzy... if they support palin, they've got to ignore the UNWED TEEN part of that pregnancy.

if they focus on the UNWED TEEN pregnancy part of the palin story... it kinda shows that 'abstinence before marriage' teaching doesn't work... and that even the steadfast chri$tian family can have pregnant teens. kinda goes against theire 'family values' morals doesn't it?

blame the media works for the GOP... BTW, in case nobody heard... john mcsame's a former POW.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
ON NBC this AM, Meredith Vieira was pushing the idea that MILLIONS of good American families deal with the "issue" of teen pregnancy, and when middle-class, white, suburban families deal with the "issue" it's ennobling and so NORMAL! (Minority teen mothers, it was left unspoken, are just ghetto trash and skank hos).
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
okay, that makes me want to puke.

    IOKIYAR to the extreme.

single-parent families and teen pregnacies were supposed to be destroying America (hence, gay adoption or pregnant lesbians is a HUGE issue)... but now its NORMAL??

how do these people sleep at night?
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
well they are not gonna push it because the right owns the media and there are horrible immoral things that people do but when they do it it's okay and they just spin it.

what lib commentators need to keep the focus on is 'this is not what we want for our children so how to we prevent it'. and point out that abstinence only education results in teen pregancy and VD, statistically. We could call it the "Sarah Palin method" of birth control and sex ed.

Interesting...earlier TMZ had an article entitled "Palin daughter puts the party in GOP" with a bunch of photos from her babydaddy myspace page. I viewed all the photos, laughed at the hypocrisy of Gov Palin maybe needing to focus a bit more on her family, and then when I went back, the link is gone. The story, the comments, the photos, all vanished from the website. I checked my cached file and it was there and when I tried to view it again, got the message "ooops, the page you are trying to view does not exist".

Hmmmm, TMZ with a conscience? I doubt that. My guess is the big bad GOP party has some connections at TMZ and the article was scrubbed...typical...

Evangelicals (aka The Fringe) are rallying behind her.

    1. Apparently the abstinence only education doesn't work.

    2. If Palin and daughter were just another family at the lower end of the economic ladder, nobody would lend a helping hand with this child because the religious right (Dobson, Perkins, and other men) are only concerned about fetuses and not children.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
the problem is... the MSM will NEVER point out the hypocrisy of the religious right in this situation.

they're trying to make Bristol the pregnant UNWED TEEN off-limits... even saying thousands of American families are dealing with this everyday... so its normal now.

last week it was disgusting to the religious right, this week its normal.

and the LGBT community is somehow trying to force an 'agenda' on Americans??

    oh the irony.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
well, just go to Perez Hilton and read the comments. He recently started requiring registration to comment (within the last couple weeks I think) so he's been swamped with people registering just to leave nasty comments about this, but one thing is clear and that is that the general population sees this for exactly what it is, despite what the MSM says or how they spin it. Dems need to keep a constant focus on far right extremists like Palin being after Griswold.

The downside of that is that I believe in hindsight McCain was right about Lieberman. He, not Palin, is what it would take to get the independent women to vote for him. So it's kind of a hard call.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
yep, rush limpballs was spinning the talking points, all supportive of dear Mrs. Palin and how horrible of the terrible blogs and media to try and destroy her and her poor daughter.

And get this, limpballs says Obama is behind all this and probably even got some fake blogs going to catapult these horrendous stories. not kidding.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
    Rush Limbaugh is an asshole...

    Ooops, too strong? Sorry...
  • cmccbald · 1 year ago
Great point. Let me make it even more strongly.

John McCain threw a 17-year-old girl under the bus!

Even more shocking, Sarah Palin threw her own daughter under the bus!

Remember that this "leak" or "press release" or whatever it was occurred in the context of stories questioning the birth of Sarah's fifth child. Instead of making her doctor available or releasing medical records, they came up with this PR move.
  • gsthomas606 · 1 year ago
I saw some RNC spokeswoman today saying the only reason this story came out was because of the fervor democrats created with their blogs... so good job at forcing the media to report news! I know how tough that is for them.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
I'm probably revealing alot about my age by saying this, but there was a time when there was something called an 'investigative journalist', and a story like this would have been referred to as a 'scoop'. Sorry for the archaic terminology.
  • ydthin · 1 year ago
well, I first read about it on Daily Kos because some strange person over there searched myspace for a girl Bristol's age in Wasilla and asked her what gossip she'd heard about the Palin scandal. She replied that Trig was Palin's but that Bristol is presently pregnant. It's one of the strangest things I've ever encountered on the internet, actually...I took it with a grain of salt like everyone else did (and this is yet another reason parents need to watch who is contacting their kids online). This was day before yesterday. And there were comments in the blog stories saying the same thing...I get the impression that Palin has made alot of enemies along the way and that this stuff has been floating around in Alaska for a lonnnngggg time.
  • MNUSA · 1 year ago
Bill Bennett just about blew a gasket yesterday when Kyra Phillips reported that people were connecting Palin's pregnant daughter to her desire to omit sex education from public schools and only teach abstinence. He can be such a bully and a thug. (Although I realize he is a world class expert on virtuous behavior.) Wolf Blitzer, to his credit, didn't back down from Kyra's reporting.
  • DougStamate · 1 year ago
MNUSA wrote: "...that people were connecting Palin's pregnant daughter to her desire to...only teach abstinence...".
That is exactly why this story was released by the Republicans. They are trying to use her daughter's pregnancy to prevent any discussion of Gov. Palin's radical views on sex education and abortion. The majority of voters in the US don't believe in "abstinence-only" sex education and do believe that abortion should remain legal. Positions 180 degrees from those held by Palin.
To prevent those positions from being used against her in the campaign, Republicans will scream that any attempt to ask Palin about her views on those subjects are "sexist" and "dragging the candidate's family into the campaign."
Maybe the media is finally catching on, though.
