AMERICAblog: Report: Murdoch would like to purchase NY Times, Bloomberg

  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
At this point Chris, Murdoch's purchasing of the NYT and Bloomberg would be just a formality as the media in this country is already pretty much doing the Repub's bidding.

God, I am bored. Or, maybe it's more like coming off a suger-high. If I don't get a dose of the white trash that is Palin real soon, I'll scream...simply scream.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Yes, agreed, more of the same... PLEASE!

Don't ya love AMERICAN PRAVDA 24/7?
  • Mister_E · 1 year ago
I agree with you ,Cowboy . The news media is clearly a shill for the Republican party, yet ,the Republicans want us to think different. They are always complaining about bias in what they call the "liberal media",Or as Rush Limbaugh refers to it as the"drive-by media".
  • evan_la · 1 year ago
See, that's the thing. If any viewpoint they don't agree with is mentioned, then it is biased. If you call their obvious BS, then you are biased. There's no appeasement.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Its called "working the refs" and the Republicans are experts at doing it. Its why are media has become "center - right" for so long. FINALLY, some in the media are starting to rebel and be more balanced but they are FEW and FAR between.

The only difference was that with Pravda -- everyone knew it was propaganda. They pretended it wasn't, but everyone -- government, writers, editors, and readers -- knew it was just bullshit. In the US, the Sheeple haven't figured it out yet.

Well Rupert already sits on the Board of the A P, & look how objective THEY are.

My guess he'd make Judith Miller managing editor of the NY Times.

I hope one of the things Obama seeks to "change" is the corporate media strangle hold.
  • fostert · 1 year ago
One thing I don't see in that article is any numbers. Rupert's pretty leveraged, can he really buy them both? I would suspect Bloomberg can prevent that. Maybe not the the New York Times. The NYT has already sold out, they'll sell out some more. But Mike's got an ego to protect. And he has the intelligence to protect it.

There's NO liberal bias in the amerikan press, is there? If you answer NO, then GOD IS NOT WORKING IN YOUR LIFE!
  • fostert · 1 year ago
God most certainly isn't working in my life. That nonexistence thing kind of gets in the way.
  • benb · 1 year ago
We need to follow journalists instead of newspapers. It's easy to buy a newspaper company but it's much harder to buy integrity.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
That's alright. We're used to incompetence and fully expect more.

Maybe, just maybe, the Democrats could start enforcing the ant-trust laws in this country. I was hoping that John Edwards would have become Attorney General, but he screwed that away.
  • Smarmy · 1 year ago
Sure. Make FOX the uniform. One-size-fits-all for the USA.
  • dad · 1 year ago
don't we have bill clinton to thank for paving the way?
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
too late Mudoch. the government already controls the media.
  • nicho · 1 year ago
We have diversity in the corporate media? When the fuck did that happen?
  • paulbe · 1 year ago
Murdochs Australian papers falling over themselves telling us all about how fabulous Palin is. Only ones saying it though. The NYT has been such a bastion of lying and dishonesty since 2001 that it would hardly be missed anyway
