AMERICAblog: Republican Congressman Patrick McHenry mocked soldier serving the Green Zone as

It is a shame that the distasteful remarks made by Wright, has eclipsed the remarkable achievements made by him. Unlike Cheney, this man has served his country very well.
It's no accident that those remarks "eclipsed" BHO. It was done quite on purpose by a lazy press corps who have already written the narratives and just need to hammer everything into it.

In my opinion, no one could have more disdain for the 4,000 men and women who have died than Hillary Clinton. She was on Leno last night and attempted self depreciating humor BUT lying about sniper fire, when so many have died, its NOTHING to joke about. Is this what we can expect from Clinton (if elected), tell lies and then use the comedy shows to "soften" the lie? She is officially on my SOL list.

This is shocking. The "two-bit" security guard, to the "get me your supervisor," to how it was a real "eye-opener" (I guess Congressmen don't get the internet or newspapers), from how it was an amazing testament to how well we're doing that he felt completely safe in the Green Zone to how he was obviously blessed because the rockets fired into the Green Zone missed him.
I am especially offended by the feigned mistiness as he recounts how someone...almost...died, maybe...did die. YOU MORON! HUNDREDS DIE EVERY DAY THERE! EVEN AMERICANS DIE THERE ALL THE TIME.

I made a comment about Clinton BEFORE I watched this clip. Holy Mother of God, "two bit security guard"????? A soldier doing his job is a "two bit security guard". That fucking mealy mouth Bush apologist needs to be thrown out of Congress. Where the hell is the outrage from the Democratic lawmakers? Mr. "I Am Better Than You " gets his panties in a twist because he is "asked for ID" in a war zone. It obviously still rankles him that he was just a guy, not some VIP. This is the on going problem with most politicians, once elected they want their toes and rings kissed. Bullshit! Bush has set the example for thumbing his nose at Americans, his boot lickers think they can also get away with it. I am writing Jim Webb, John Murtha and everyone I can think of.
There is NO excuse that can be rended by this guy that justifies calling ANY soldier, especially in a war zone, "a two bit security guard".

OT Mark Steel: You couldn't make it up (unless you're Hillary, that is)
Traditionally, Democrat candidates for President start slightly radical, then try to reassure Conservative America, get in a tangle and look like idiots. But this time may be different, because Barack Obama has stuck by his friend the militant preacher, refusing to disown him, and Hillary Clinton has gone mental.
Her response to being caught lying to a military audience, when she invented a story about being under sniper fire in Bosnia, was to say it wasn't surprising she got some things wrong, seeing how she spoke millions of words every day. What a magnificent idea, that if you say lots of words some of them are bound to be fantastic lies. So if you listen carefully to horse-racing commentators they say things like "And it's Teddy's Boy still leading three furlongs out as they come up to the fourth last fence with Nip and Tuck two lengths behind by the way I fought a tiger once, punched it clean out and they're all safely over." http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/opinion/...

OT Homeland Security blinks on Real ID: No hassles on May 11
This map, updated earlier Wednesday by Homeland Security, shows all states as green--meaning no new air travel or federal building hassles on May 11. Current hassles will continue. The next deadline is December 31, 2009.
WASHINGTON--In the long-running Real ID staring match, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security ended up being the first to blink.
Homeland Security announced Wednesday that all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be technically Real ID-compliant by the May 11, 2008 deadline--even though many states actually have rejected the concept and have zero plans to embrace a national ID card.
This means Americans will face no new hassles when using their drivers licenses to enter federal buildings or fly on airplanes starting on May 11. That's a good thing.
But the way this turned out is so odd it's worth repeating. States including New Hampshire, Maine, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Washington, and Montana have enacted laws saying "hell no we'll never comply with Real ID." And Homeland Security officials carefully ignored those public votes of condemnation, instead pretending that those states really intend to acquiesce by the next major deadline of December 31, 2009. (See our special report on Real ID from earlier this year.) http://www.news.com/8301-13578_3-9909928-38.htm...

You don't say where this clip comes from other than YouTube. Before I jump in and write everyone I can think of demanding this ass be thrown out of Congress, was it actually a "soldier" that questioned McHenry or some one hired to check ID's. His arrogance, either way, needs to be publicized but IF it was one of our military men and women then McHenry needs to get the Congressional boot.

This petulant little punk calls a soldier a two bit security guard and gets pissy because he is inconvenienced moving around the Green Zone. This is exactly the problem in Washington, all the politicians in both parties think they are God's and people should bow and scrape to them. You fat headed son of a bitch, the soldier was doing his job you on the other hand live a life unknown to most Americans. Free Healthcare, Free Pension, subsidized housing, work only 100 days a year and contribute nothing towards those same two bit security guards. You did not support armored Humvees, you did not support better body armor, you supported an illegal war, you did not support extension to Child Healthcare. You have a cushy job and are totally unaccountable for anything you do. What the hell did you learn in Iraq, did you see anything that justifies you criticizing anyone in harm's way. I think not.

That jackass hillbilly (I guess that term applies to the president as well) really needs to direct his comment to the Iraqi armed forces and not to his own country's hardworking armed service members. Today in the New York Times, the "great" Basra incursion by Maliki (that Bush hailed as a defining moment) had over a thousand deserters. People just left in the midst of fighting. Some are wondering if there's verification it was a soldier and not a contractor but that's irrelevant because people providing security have a job: to provide security. And if that means checking ID's, that's what it means.
This Rep. should be thanking the guard that he did his job correctly because someone with ill intentions trying to enter the facility to cause mayhem and destruction might not get through the door with this guy working the door and thus, protecting the Rep's life.

McHenry is a little worm--send these people to Iraq over and over again with no regard for their families and he treats people like this? One of these days someone is going to come along and kick his gay-closeted ass from here to kingdom come.
This weasel is such a contradiction--telling everyone who will listen that if we don't support the troops we are unamerican and he opens his big fat self-important mouth to a guy who is doing his job--and treats the soldier like he is scum--you can't make this stuff up.
Mark my words, one of these days he is going to get nailed and nailed good--he was as involved in the Page Scandal as Foley was but it was covered up. I asked that question and I said "either way his arrogance should be publicized". I only want to know before I hit Webb, Murtha and my Congressman. It in no way wasit meant to diminish the duty of the guard whatever his stature. McHenry's arrogance is directed to what he considers someone beneath him. He is a pig. Our air, land and water supplies are being protected by security guards whom McHenry seems to hold in very low regard. But I want to make sure that this is not dropped. first- refer to an American soldier as a 'two-bit security guard'... okay... I'd expect something like that when repugs are talking amongst themselves.
but THEN... he's making an arguement for how much better its gotten over there right?? THEN he goes on to talk about two buildings that are hit by rocket attacks 50 yards on either side of him.... in the green zone.
umm, which is it... is it getting better or are there rocket attacks on the green zone??
I'm not sure I'd qualify 'safer' and 'better' as only having two rocket attacks on the green zone while I was visiting.

So, McHenry, the gym was hit, was it? Well, then, I guess that two-bit security guard saved your worthless ass. (I'm sure you think it was god.)
Hell, it could've been a security guard -- there are as many private contractors in Iraq as there are military personnel. What people shouldn't miss in this isn't the fact that he calls the guy a two-bit security guard. (Pogues in the IZ are used to being called a lot more than that by the soldiers who work outside of the IZ.) What people should note is that here is a guy who thinks the American public should be happy -- no, grateful! -- to have their civil liberties infringed upon for the supposed sake of security, and here he is in Iraq pitching a bitch because he doesn't have clearance to enter a fucking gym. This reminds me of the time when I was on guard duty outside an Air Force command post on a base that had nukes. We were on alert and a three star general tried to enter the command post without showing I.D. He insisted that he be allowed to pass because he was a Lt. General, and ordered me to step aside.. I drew my weapon and told him I would shoot his ass if he tried to get by me. He smiled, pulled out his military I.D. and said, "Good job Airman, don't ever let anybody get by you without showing I.D." I had two stripes on my sleeve, he had three stars on his collar. Didn't matter. My orders were clear, and I followed them, just like this guy did with mr. oh-so-important.

Just what was this repugnant republicon doing over in Iraq to begin with? Just junketing at the taxpayers expense? Surfing around the web on this issue. It seems the guard was a military contractor? Does it really change anything,no! McHenry's contempt for someone paid to keep him and our troops safe is appalling. The arrogant prick strolling around at 5am is pissed because a "two bit security guard" asks for his ID. McHenry, the 32 yr old prick, ought to have said "thank you for doing your job" Of course that would be a first for any Bush apologist, someone actually doing their job!
I still say, kick McHenry out.

My apologies as this idiot is from my state (NC). Fortunately the district that I live in is represented by congressman David Price who has done a really excellent job.
He was undoubtedly going to the gym at that hour to cruise for dick. And the guard called him on it and did his job. May have gotten personal - what other motivation would there be for him to recount this story but his lingering resentment? Simple, but very pathological. Our brave soldiers and (most) contractors are doing an unsung heroic job for which they should get extra hazard pay for babysitting AWOL insane Congressmen. Of course they will not and will come home to crappy care and cut benefits. We don't need God to Damn the USA when we are doing such a fine job ourselves.

What a typical swaggering fake hero Republican! Pretending to be macho military man but has never actually been around the military, much less IN the military (I'm an army vet and I'm a woman - unlike this chicken hawk!)
Maybe he got to listen to White House propaganda from Petraeus, "get in and out of helicopters" and hang out in one of Saddam's palaces (where he was protected by REAL soldiers) but he's just another Repug, pretending to be a REAL man while brave soldiers protect him during his photo ops and future "war story" fabrications.
Interesting, too, that he brags about how this "surge" is working. Read instead what General Odom, a REAL general (and a Ph.D. from Columbia, now teaching at Yale) told the Senate about the surge earlier this week here: http://www.senate.gov/~foreign/testimony/2008/O...
Best line: "...the Shiites, like the Iranians, detest al Qaeda. To understand why, one need only take note of the al Qaeda public diplomacy campaign over the past year or so on internet blogs. They implore the United States to bomb and invade Iran and destroy this apostate Shiite regime. As an aside, ***it gives me pause to learn that our vice president and some members of the Senate are aligned with al Qaeda on spreading the war to Iran.***"
General Odom, I salute you! Chicken hawk Repug, listen to the REAL soldier and expert and spare us your stupid fake war stories!

As a resident in the 10th district in NC, I can tell you that this fall's congressional race should be fun to watch. In fact, McHenry's opponent, Lance Sigmon, already has the YouTube clip up as a headline. The Democratic opponent, Daniel Johnson, is a Navy hero, that lost both legs below the knee saving another serviceman's life. He is a UNC law grad, and local attorney. For anyone interested, I've listed his site below:
Hopefully, we can take Shrimpy McDouchebag out of office. After all, in 2006, Heath Shuler knocked out 8 term incumbent Charles Taylor in the neighboring 11th District. Anyway, I thought that some of you might be interested on info in this race. Cheers!

The real problem with this post is that it 'framed' in such a way as to have us believe that the 2-bit security guard is really a soldier, and that is his "redeeming" quality.
Until we change OUR attitudes toward those who are in low-paying service-sector jobs, who protect us, make our lives more comfortable and tolerable, we are as bad as McHenry.
What McHenry said about the security guard reflects his (and our) disdain for the working poor. It doesn't matter at all that they guy is a soldier.

Just junketing at the taxpayers expense? Or maybe doing a little "subtle" prospecting for oil leases or other under the radar means of making a profit from Bush's war? This idiot needs to have some sort of rocket inserted in him where the sun don't shine and fired against the enemy! McHenry is an obvious waste of space like all of the republicons! Outragious!!!
I still say, kick McHenry out.
Read instead what General Odom, a REAL general (and a Ph.D. from Columbia, now teaching at Yale) told the Senate about the surge earlier this week here:

Hopefully, we can take Shrimpy McDouchebag out of office. After all, in 2006, Heath Shuler knocked out 8 term incumbent Charles Taylor in the neighboring 11th District. Anyway, I thought that some of you might be interested on info in this race. Cheers!
I called Rep. McHenry's office and, in a civil, but outraged tone,
left a message to
express my displeasure at his calling one of our Soldiers in Iraq
"A two-bit Security Guard". It was long distance from California,
but worth every penny!
Here's the number:
(202) 225-2576
His email is restricted to NC residents (how convenient!)
So please, if his comment bothered you, tell this fool how you feel
(but keep it on the level of intelligent, articulate outrage).
Feel free to join me and add to my message.
Of course, the weekly standard is only NOW reporting the Soldier was actually a "contractor" and not a US Soldier according to a hack @ the Pig's office. I don't believe crap from the weekly standard and neither should you.
BTW: Chickenhawk comes to mind...
And why didn't you have proper credentials? You think you are special, Pig McHenry?
Until we change OUR attitudes toward those who are in low-paying service-sector jobs, who protect us, make our lives more comfortable and tolerable, we are as bad as McHenry.
What McHenry said about the security guard reflects his (and our) disdain for the working poor. It doesn't matter at all that they guy is a soldier.
