    Hate to threadjack, but I hear things.

    Things from people.

    Things are being done.

    Nomination-wise, that is:

    Question: Do you still think the Democratic race can be resolved before the convention?

    Reid: Easy.

    Q: How is that?

    Reid: It will be done.

    Q: It just will?

    Reid: Yep.

    Q: Magically?

    Reid: No, it will be done. I had a conversation with Governor Dean (Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean) today. Things are being done.

    I think the Clinton's roles is to be the Manchurian candidate for the Democratic party. They will either destroy the party from within or join McCain and try to destroy it from the outside by being his "Independent" running mate. She needs to just step down... She is pulling a Joe Lieberman by staying in the race.

    Nope! If she were a dolphin, she would lead a pod of killer whales to feed on the beached whales in return for their not eating her.

    Hate to highjack too: but this is interesting little tidbit:
    ---------------

    "The Pinochet Connection Is Running the Anti-Clinton Campaign

    March 24, 2008 (EIRNS)—Politico, the Capitol Hill newspaper and website which is at the center of the effort to force Hillary Clinton to withdraw from the Democratic Presidential nomination, comes from the right-wing sponsors of former Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. As reported in the Sunday briefing, Politico is run by Robert Allbritton, the son of Joseph L. Allbritton, who was forced into retirement when the fact of his Riggs Bank laundering millions of dollars for the fascist Pinochet and his family became a public scandal in 2004. While the elder Allbritton first took over Riggs in 1976, by 2001 he had turned over the bank's daily operations to son Robert (who was ultimately forced to sell Riggs to PNC Bank)."
  • High Crimes & Misdemeanors · 1 year ago
    part 2:

    -------

    "Investigations showed that Riggs was not only laundering money for Pinochet, but also for the Saudi royal family, including former Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. Prince Bandar bin Sultan, whose bribes from the BAE scandal passed through accounts at Riggs. Jonathan Bush, the uncle of President George W. Bush, was also a top official of Riggs, having come into the bank as the result of Riggs' purchase of his company in 1997.

    Also present when all of this occurred, was one of Robert Allbritton's top lieutenants, Frederick J. Ryan, who was then a board member of Riggs, and is now the chairman and CEO of Politico. Politico reportedly gets almost all of its funding from Allbritton Communications, which is now run by Robert Allbritton. "

    Several years ago, pod of dolphins in the Red Sea actually saved a British scuba diver during a shark attack. He was snorkeling with the pod after a day of diving, and was attacked and bitten by an oceanic whitetip. The dolphins formed a protective circle around the Brit and beat the water with their fins, thereby driving off the shark and allowing rescuers from the dive boat time to get him out of the water. Oceanic whitetips do not scare easily, and being an open ocean shark, will eat anything and not let up once in attack mode.

    Cowboyneok,They will either destroy the party from within or join McCain and try to destroy it from the outside by being his "Independent" running mate. "

    I have been saying this for a couple of months now and it seems that most don't believe it will happen., but I know Hillary is one shrewd woman and is power hungry like none other. I think that IF she doesn't get the Dem nomination, she will go and run with McCain as a "UNITY" Ticket.

    Entertaining, but I don't think McCain is that politically tone-deaf.

    I would not be suprised what McCain is capable of at this point.
    He knows if he gets the Big Seat his party looses a seat in the Senate.
  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
    Yabut.

    The party that wins the presidency usually picks up seats in the Senate too, right?

    And Hillary would be replaced with another Democratic senator, since both the NY electorate and the governor are Democratic.

    And McCain knows that a portion of his party hates him already because he was considered for a unity ticket in 2004. It's a touchy subject for him. I doubt he'd try it.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    McCain needs backup. He already has Lieberman as his enabler, now all he needs is one who actually has blood running through their veins. Hillary and McCain are old time friends, they have already aired their love affair in public so it isn't so far afield to see them as running together.

    Look, McCain and the repubs are all worried that they will lose the White House this go around. McCain does well with Independents and Hillary will bring her large share of Dem's over to his side. Heck, there have already been a number of polls citing that 25% of Hillary's supporters will NOT vote for Obama, but they WILL support McCain.

    She destroys Obama so he is weakened in the Primary, than she goes to run with McCain and brings along the needed votes for them to win as a team. Or something similar...
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
    McCain/Clinton? no way.

    Hillary wants McCain to win so she can run in 2012. She wont want to be tied to McCain's horrible failures as President. She doesnt want to gamble on him dying in office, cause you never know. Plus the Clinton legacy (most important to Bill) would be shattered forever. (Although it kinda is already thanks to Hillary's nonsense)

  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    Andrew A. Gill,

    Usually that is true, but this year is a one in a million. Hillary would be replaced with a Dem as Senator yes and McCain's popularity with his party is an odd one, Remember it's really the hard right that doesn't like him very much (they call themselves Conservatives, but they are anything but).

    McCain keeps HIS base along with other Repubs that just want to KEEP the White House. This may be the only way they can turn this thing around as their popularity is down the tubes. They make allowances for McCain and Hillary (remember, she has been courting the right for years now and many speak well of her as well) and then back them along with many indies and Hillary's Dems will put them over the top...I think they can win like that.

    I am very sad to say that, but I do think they just might get behind such a plan to contain their power. and Hillary will be delighted as McCain won't last too much longer, I don't see him going for a second term, so Hill is a natural (or so she thinks).
  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
    Polly_Tics,

    I am a (anti-corporation, anti-big business) Libertarian, and I tend to hate whoever is in the White House. In the early 90's, I would have called myself a Republican. (I'm better now, thanks)

    I listened to Rush Limbaugh (again, I'm better now). I admit it. Let me tell you, the Clintons were not made out to be Satan. No, it was something far worse.

    The Clintons were made out to be Emmanuel Goldstein. ``People were leaping up and down in their places and shouting at the tops of their voices in an effort to drown the maddening bleating voice that came from the screen.''

    It will take more than just saying ``The Republicans are at war with Obama. The Clintons are our ally'' to change that. For one, they do not have memory holes.

    Elephants never forget, and it will be a cold day in Hell before a significant portion of them will vote for a Clinton anywhere on the ballot.

    It will also be a pretty chilly day in Hell before some Dems will vote for a Repug in the top slot.

    Furthermore, I've heard people say that there will be a war in the Democratic party if Hillary gets the Democratic nomination. I have heard people invoke the `68 Convention. The truth is that if Hillary gets the nomination, there will be massive outcry, but nothing like the `68 Convention.

    But if Hillary gets the VP to McCain, the `68 Convention may even be too tame a comparison. We're talking massive upheaval in both parties from now until November.

    Bill's rep is already destroyed even though he seems to think that he can regain his stature. He lost both me along with my other half for good and we are hardly unique in this feeling.

    Both Hill and Bill want POWER, heck that's why Bill is fighting so bloody hard for hillary. It isn't so much for HER but for his own grasp on the power seat that has him giddy with anticipation.

    By the way Andrew, what made you "change your ways" when it came to Rush? What was the final straw?
  • Andrew A. Gill · 1 year ago
    What made me change my ways?

    A few things. First, I moved and wasn't able to hear Rush anymore (actually, I'm sure I could have, but I just didn't know where). Second, the place I moved to was full of arch-republicans, Third, the place I moved to was almost entirely white and a significant amount of the population seemed racist (my graduating class was 99.4% white. I know this because there were about 500 people and I counted the three non-white kids). Fourth, I started learning about Libertarianism, which made me start to think about why they were so concerned about drugs and religion and gays. Fifth, I really like Steinbeck, and it's pretty hard to be pro-big business after reading The Grapes of Wrath.

    If there was a final straw, it was George Bush Jr. I actually preferred him over Gore for about a day, on the basis that he was too incompetent to get anything done, but then he got control of the Senate, and with control of both houses of Congress, it doesn't matter how incompetent you are.

    But Bush Jr. is pretty much the anti-libertarian. Economically profligate, socially repressive. Every thing he does used to make me madder and madder. Then I developed Outrage Overload, and I can't get any madder.

    OMG! -- Hillary must be on hallucinogens!

    More evidence of lies -- Hillary has fond memories of a trip she took to Africa with Joe Wilson in 1997...that never happened in real life!

    I just discovered this piece by Jake Tapper from March 18, 2008, which certainly suggests that Hillary's Bosnia sniper fantasy is not just a one-off "mistake" caused by sleep deprivation -- as Hillary would have us believe – but rather a clear demonstration that her lies about a fictional past are part of a well-established pattern:

    Hillary's Foreign Policy Memories
    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/03...

    “Today Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, at an event with former Ambassador Joe Wilson, said, "I'm delighted to be here with Ambassador Wilson. He and I did travel together to Africa and, sort of, paved the way for the president's trip the following year, which was historic.

    “That Africa trip was in March 1997.

    “Wilson didn't start as Senior Director for African Affairs at the NSC until later that year.

    “Is it possible Clinton was confusing Wilson with Susan Rice, Wilson's predecessor, who did go with her on that trip?

    “Rice says yes.

    "Actually, Senator Clinton may not recall this, but Joe Wilson did not start at the NSC until some months after her trip to Africa in 1997," Rice says in an email. "I was the senior NSC staffer who accompanied her on that trip."

    And I thought John McCain was memory-challenged -- yikes!

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
    Andrew A Gill,
    As far as the war within the Democratic Party goes; heck it has been in full force for around 3 months now (at least since South Carolina). there will be a war within the party IF Hillary gets it (and I will be in the front row protesting) AND if Obama gets the nomination...so the Party will be in disarray no matter what they do. That is unless they run together on the same ticket and frankly, I just don't see how that can happen at this point.
    I think Hillary will try to destroy Obama and then if she still doesn't get the nomination, she will defect to McCain. Frankly, I don't really think that the Clintons really care that much about Party. Remember, Billie boy was the best Republican President the Democratic party ever elected...(and I know you're old Rush Limbaugh self must cringe at that one).
    Click on your gravatar and then open your "view full profile" link and then hit "Edit Profile" and open that page and scroll down to the Account Settings section and make sure that your email address is NOT in the designated box. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit "Save" -- and see if that helps.
    And one more thing....
    Actually, Senator Clinton may not recall this, but Joe Wilson did not start at the NSC until some months after her trip to Africa in 1997," Rice says in an email. "I was the senior NSC staffer who accompanied her on that trip.
    Dr. Susan Rice, who actually did accompany Hillary on the 1997 trip to Africa, is -- are you ready? -- African-American!
    Make of that what you will -- but it suggests that in some way Dr. Susan Rice was invisible to Hillary Clinton, since she doesn't even recall the fact that she and Dr. Rice traveled together on that Africa trip in 1997. Does Hillary really believe that she and Joe Wilson traveled together?
    Or, does she believe that a trip with Joe Wilson has more cachet than a trip with Dr. Susan Rice -- whose education, credentials, and accomplishments are nothing short of stellar -- and thus she erased Dr. Rice from her memory and inserted Joe Wilson instead?
    Here is a brief bio on Dr. Susan Rice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_E._Rice
    Shame on you, Hillary Clinton.
    I know what you mean -- but you can always go into your "view full profile" page and look at all your comments complete with the highlighted "reply" if any there be.
    Actually, I do prefer the "flat" format to the indented version because at least it flows in a chronological manner that allows scrolling through from top to bottom without getting dizzy from all the indented replies that are random and out of the chronological sequence.
    I miss some of the old regulars like glasses guy and various others who would drop in on occasion -- but maybe this program is just a little too intimidating for them to want to bother with all the program requirements. Halo was just so blissfully simple albeit a wee bit quirky at times. Nothing could be more user-friendly.
    I also loved the way that Halo would alert the reader right above the Comments box to the number of "Visitors Online" at any given time, so that you could see if you had entered a wasteland devoid of human presence or if there were still a few night owls with whom you might communicate.
    Halo was more intimate, too, in a way -- not so many people posting YouTube music videos just for the fun of it.
    I was even more disturbed by Hillary trying to explain her sniper story by saying she was running to the car but had to stop when she saw the little girl so she had to "take her stuff and left." To end the furor, I expect Hillary to give a speech at Constitution Hall on the effect of deep deprivation and how it's tearing at the fabric of American society.
  • Sarah B. · 1 year ago
    grasshopper
    I wonder if Hillary plans to cover sleep deprivation -- and its hallucinogenic symptoms -- in her "comprehensive" health care plan? I certainly hope so, for her sake!
    When Hillary first told the Bosnia sniper story, I had the distinct impression that she was traveling alone with perhaps some military personnel and her secret service protection detail and maybe some people from the State Department. She never even hinted that Chelsea went along on that trip.
    So, when I saw the actual video of the Bosnia visit and Hillary had Chelsea standing right by her side, I was shocked at the magnitude of her lie -- it's just amazing! -- because no one in his or her right mind would take their own child into a dangerous combat zone where the air was so filled with sniper fire than they were forced to run for cover.
    Still, I think her fantasy trip to Africa with Joe Wilson at a time when he wasn't even working at the NSC is just off the charts for an invented memory.
    Like Karl Rove, Hillary creates her own reality! Until she gets caught on tape.
    :)
    I agree that the chronological format is best for me but I usually don't use the REPLY button but post at the top of the page with the name of the person I am speaking to. I don't think you see other comments if they aren't attached to your reply button.
    Or at least I "think" that's the case. Frankly, I am on here less and less because of the difficulty in scrolling troubles along with the auto refresh. It gives me a headache rather than be able to respond quickly (AND EASILY) to everyone.
