AMERICAblog: Results of Palin's speech? Obama raised $8m, RNC raised $1m

  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
Yea, I gave some last night.
After what we learned today about Caribou Barbie...I'm ready to give again.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
Which piece of info are you exactly referring to? There have been so many, it gets confusing after awhile.
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
    I'm in...

and maybe some for the A-blog house while we're at it...
  • dacnova · 1 year ago
I just donated AND bought a couple t-shirts. FYI, the Virginia for Obama t-shirts are on back order in L and XL. Since we're (amazingly) a battleground state, I hope that's because they sold out of 'em.
  • Heather · 1 year ago
Count me in on that figure. :-) I have been donating once a month (last day of the month!) to Obama/DNC/MoveOn and alternating our state party and pro choice groups. However with the Palin speech last night we gave again to Obama and Moveon. My husband is looking forward to the election so I'll stop spending so much money. :-) I know it is money well spent though.
  • jacobfloyd · 1 year ago
    Donated $100 last night!
  • jacobfloyd · 1 year ago
Stop it! You're making too much progress too rapidly!

    lol!!
  • martha · 1 year ago
I gave to Moveon.org for their get out the vote effort - and a t-shirt. ENOUGH!
  • hawkseye · 1 year ago
    I already gave this month,

I have to balance my damn checkbook, but I'll give as soon as I figure out how much money I have (or don't have)
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
LOL this is simply GREAT! Yes, we just gave and it felt particularly good this time around.

This is pretty amazing, 8 million in ONE night as opposed to 1!
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Charlie Gibson just said how Palin's speech and had brought women into the McCain fold, and how the repubes had raised big money. Stephanopolis deflates him by pointing out the 8 to 1 dem slaughter.
  • Polly_Tics · 1 year ago
LOLOL, wish I had seen that! Gibson just doesn't stop his PR for McCain, so that would have been a treat to see.
  • curlytoes79 · 1 year ago
If you donate $15 via Obama's official site, they'll send you a car magnet, and I think you can get shirt with a $30 donation. Plus they have some cool stuff in their online store. It would be great if Obama got a bigger surge in donations than McCain following McCain's speech - let's embarrass the hell out of them

McCain picked her, he's The Decider
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    The Decider II, the revenge

someone should make a trailer for it.

I'm in. That Palin bitch pissed me off. In fact, all those GOP liar speakers pissed me off.

I give him $100 a month, but he should have received my September donation by now. BTW, Hillary Clinton is going to campaign for Obama in Florida on Monday. When Hillary kicks some Palin butt, they won't be able to call it sexism.
  • falloch · 1 year ago
Yay!!! people have been calling for Hill to attack immediately after the lipsticked pitbull spoke, but I think Hillary's tactic is correct to wait till the RNC is over and then fill the vaccuum with what needs saying about this pseudo-feminist nu case. These people are not just pro-life, they would happily ban contraception altogether - the thin edge of the wedge are all these court cases where people say their human rights are violated if they must sell contraceptives because it's against their religious beliefs. That 's how these people got in on the ground floor - PTA Meetings, school boards, etc. two decades ago. The MSM must ask Sarah point blank what are her views on contraception, and then ask McSame the same question - and then what?? Who knows...
  • falloch · 1 year ago
'nucase' - sorry, 'nut case' , i.e. totally politically incorrect labelling which should have otherwise read as'totally insane and deluded person'. she is obviously of the Repug, neocon school of 'creating our own reality'.
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Agree with your estimate of Palin's stance. McCain was sort of asked about contraception in connection with Viagra being available on insurance but contraception not. He begged the question. I"m hoping Hillary will be our point man (sic) on Palin while Obama and Biden will be left to deal with the issues like the economy, energy, environment, and foreign relations and war. We don't need a smokescreen of social conservative issues to detract from those which can cause our country to sink if McCain is elected.

Shame on her for disparaging pit bulls... also nicknamed The Nanny Dog.

I hope you're right. Thank God! I've been saying since last Friday "where is Hillary". Of course some of her people came out today and said the coverage of Palin was sexist. SO I'll be watching Hillary Monday and hoping for the best...
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
Well, I'm only as right as HuffingtonPost. That's where I read it.
  • Mark217 · 1 year ago
I just gave $50, John. Palin and McCain do not pump my nads. Next to Al Qaeda, the GOP is the biggest threat to our freedom, our economy, and the wellbeing of the American people.
  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
After watching the networks evening news its a wonder that they didn't show film of Sarah walking on water and raising the dead. She is Reagan, Jefferson, Lincoln and Mother Teresa wrapped up in one person show why should she be required to appear on TV this weekend and answer questions from the press?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
careful of that 'raising the dead' kinda comment...

all these jokes involving mcsame and porn pop into my head.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Funny, but I can almost see that Obama commercial that the McCain camp used, with the parting of the Red Sea imagery with Palin's face stuck in there...
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
    I'd contribute today... if I wasn't overdrawn again :-(
  • osage · 1 year ago
LET’S GET REAL — SARAH PALIN IS IRRELEVANT -- SHE CHANGES NOTHING

Assuming, for the sake of discussion, the best case scenario for McCain and he wins ALL the deeply red states and AK, AZ, TX, MO, IN, WV and GA, which he should do, and also the states of NV, MT, ND, SD, CO, VA, NC and NH, which he shouldn’t do, in order to reach 270 electoral votes he’d have to ALSO win either OH and PA or OH and FL or PA and FL. Go to the electoral-vote.com website and make a realistic evaluation. Anybody want to give me odds on McCain being able to do that?
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
considering the US troops are giving to Obama at a 6 to 1 ratio...

the Dems are higher in the polls 'enthusiastic voter' catagories than mccain...

we're getting more voters registered as Dems for this election...

Obama can pull in 70,000 people to hear him speak, vs mcsame's largest crowd (before the RNCC) of 3,000 people...

    etc... etc... etc...

now I have to reign myself in, I felt this way in 2004 as well. ugh.

then again, I didn't like Kerry... I just saw him as the obvious choice when he ran against chimpy.

I don't feel that way about Obama, he's inspiring.

I hope more people feel the same way this time around... it isn't the lesser of two evils, its a vote for our future and a change for the good.
  • Fireblazes(CheetohsandCatfood) · 1 year ago
Well yes, but she sure does bring in the money!

  • bgblcklab · 1 year ago
I have sent the Obama campaign $50 several times. I wish I could send more, but I always send a note to the McCain website telling them I just sent Obama some money. I hope it makes them happy.
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I never thought about that, good idea...I'll be donating shortly and I'll be sure and mention it to the McCain website. Can't hurt...me anyway...
  • bgblcklab · 1 year ago
Thanks for your support. Spread the word.
  • EvilPoet · 1 year ago
I'm in. I gave what I could and will again when I can.
  • Catsandbeer.com · 1 year ago
I just gave again - money guarantees nothing, but I'm worried enough of the country's dumb enough to fall in love with this Palin nonsense that I kicked in some more
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
make that 10 million. Keith just said it is now 10-.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
Obama needs to run an ad focusing only on Sarah Palin's attempts to ban books at the Wassila library. Seriously, a huge majority of Americans DESPISE such censorship and will donate tons of money to fight Palin if they learn about this. I've mentioned it to MANY people and they haven't heard about it. Not everyone reads Americablog.

This is a HUGE issue to many which Obama needs to capitalize on!
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
    Update: $10 million.
  • BarbaraGordon · 1 year ago
Gave $100 on Tuesday and $100 last night.

Very glad to see that Hillary is going on the road for Obama.
  • Indigo · 1 year ago
    Did that.
  • momof5 · 1 year ago
Yeah keep donating to Obama. He's going to need the money a lot more than Mcain-Paline :)
