One of the smartest moves that Obama and the Dems have done is to frame the GOP as a party led by Limbaugh. The more that the meme is in the public discourse, the less likely that the GOP will ever recover from their failures. It places Republicans in a grand double bind: stay with Rush and you're defined as a weak follower and a lackey who has no backbone; claim your autonomy and rebel against Rush (no matter the kind of ideas you promote) and you abandon your party. Since no one wants to incur the wrath of the effective head of the party, who is variously called an entertainer and comedian, constructing the rock-solid frame that he's the Pope of the GOP widens the path of least resistance. It's a simply, easy, and effective maneuver. The top-down, authoritarian nature of the GOP makes it possible.

Because the GOP has allowed the Dems to paint them into a corner, and has even bought the Dems the paint can and the brushes, the only way out is to destroy Rush's influence. Try that on, and see what happens.

Palin already is drafting changes to her 2007 and 2008 tax returns, spokesman Bill McAllister said. This comes after learning that she is responsible for taxes on personal use of a state vehicle and nearly $18,000 she improperly collected as expenses from the state while staying at her Wasilla home about 40 minutes from Anchorage.

Palin now will show those benefits as income for tax purposes. Lawyers negotiating a settlement over state payments for her children's travel said Thursday they did not consider whether Palin also should include that benefit as income in her taxes.

It would be good to move past them, however, never lose sight of em in the rear view mirror cause movin on from em doesn't mean they are going anywhere. The repug pols are afraid og their master Rush. The last two who made any attempt to criticize him have both had to apologize the following day.

The most recent one claimed on the following day (after saying anyone who hoped Obama would fail was an idiot) claimed he didn't know Rush had said it.

Of course now I'm not sure whether he still thinks people hoping for failure are idiots or not.

I think the Repugs are intentionally putting a dumbed-down face on the GOP. After all... anyone that isn't wealthy voting Republican is going against his or her own self-interest.
Therefore they must become the party of anti-intellectualism if they're going to survive. Anyone with the capacity to think for themselves would never vote for the corrupt bastards.

Everybody needs to remember: Rush Limbaugh, for all intents and purposes, is a DEEJAY. A spinner of records. His real name is JEFF CHRISTIE...or at least it was back in the '70's. If there's any doubt, Jeff was playing "Barack the Magic Negro" incessantly as far back as the summer of '07!

That's what he really is, folks. A disc jockey! In the entertainment world - which is really is, an entertainer - "radio deejay" is just a couple of steps above "birthday party clown." The question that needs to be asked of the conservative movement is "Why would you anoint a disc jockey by the name of Jeff Christie as your de facto leader?" It's their dirty secret and shows how utterly misbegotten they've become.
