the Peter Principle states that people tend to rise to their level of incompetence - this perfectly sums up not only Condoleeza Rice but the entire Bush Crime Family as well.
who ever would have thought that Russia would put down another revolt by yet another former part of the USSR?

That 40 year old Olympic swimming bitch has really forced Ms Condi to refocus her legendary mentality exclusively on her ripped abs...

C.R. is a fraud and an empty suit. No there there. Massively overrated and a legend in her own mind. She's out of sight because that's where she belongs. Go shopping Condi. It's something you're good at.

Though of course, those qualities make her a perfect fit in this know-nothing, destroy everything "administration" so on the other hand.....Heckuva job Condi, you've hit a giant home run for incompetence.
From Thomas Frank's new book, "The Wrecking Crew":
The truth is almost exactly the opposite: Fantastic misgovernment of the kind we have seen is not an accident, nor is it the work of a few bad individuals. It is the consequence of triumph by a particular philosophy of government, by a movement that understands the liberal state as a perversion and considers the market the ideal nexus of human society. This movement is friendly to industry not just by force of campaign contributions but by conviction; it believes in entrepreneurship not merely in commerce but in politics; and the inevitable results of its ascendance are, first, the capture of the state by business and, second, all that follows: incompetence, graft, and all the other wretched flotsam that we've come to expect from Washington.

You don't have to be an expert to know America has lost its political leverage and world prowess from the Bu$hco. Admin's myopic focus on Iraq and "the war on terrah!" She didn't leave her vacation to work this problem because she knows she has ZERO power to do anything about it. We've lost our place in the world, thanks to Bush, Cheney, Condi and the rest of the "Bush team."

When Condi came on board as SECSTATE, many senior and mid-level State career employees bailed out for early retirement....handwriting was on the wall right from the start....

One other thing... imagine the shrill hysterics from the Republicans had a Democratic Administration just SAT BACK, went on vacation and slapped an American flag against his leg at the Olympics while RUSSIA invaded another country? I thought Republicans were supposed to prevent another "Germany invades Poland" in this day and age? Not so much, huh?
Can you just imagine Republicans and how they would commandeer FOX NEWS and endlessly SCREAM Democrats are "cut and run" when it comes to Russia? I can.

In fairness to Condi, she really was a Soviet expert, not a Russian expert. Can we really expect someone to adapt their knowledge and thinking to a change that occurred only 18 years ago? After all, one of our presidential candidates has yet to learn of the breakup of Czechoslovakia. No doubt many of our foreign policy experts are still coming to grips with the breakup of the Ottoman Empire. Have some patience, Condi will have this all figured out in another 30 years.

You don't up and jet to Tbilisi when you've got the hot hand at the dice game over at Wynn Las Vegas. You only do that when the Russians invade Atlanta, Georgia. Clackety clackety clack.
Truthfully she was better off staying on vacation, it's hard to negotiate with no moral standing. I'm sure this will all end well.
What do Georgia and Israel have in common? These Bush Regime proxies launched attacks thinking they would win, but instead got their asses handed to them by "the enemies" of Freedom.

Condi's useless.
I hope the media notices that McCain was running around like Chicken Little yelling "The Sky is Falling"
It's not a matter of Condi's being an expert on Russia. Girlfriend is ON VACATION. Do you KNOW what that means? She has GOLF to play and SHOES to shop for! Just like when Katrina hit 3 years ago and she was too busy hunting for Ferragamos in NYC to give any semblance of caring. [She had "Spamalot" tickets for that night, you see, and...]
Some things never change. People either.

Condi Rice could hardly take the high moral ground with Russia after being an active player in the illegal invasion of a sovereign country - Iraq. This is the danger of super powers taking laws into their own hands because when they do, others will do it too.

Have to agree with leaving Condi on vacation. If she responded and say started visiting Europe (or God forbid Tbilisi) she would have raised our profile on this issue. Since the only rational response is for the US to do nothing the best way to communicate that is to, well, do nothing. Especially, after Bush personally promised the Georgian people that the US would stand with them in their fight for freedom. What could Condi have possibly said? That statement is now inoperative? Sorry, Georgia, today you are on your own? Who me?
No, there was only one good response and that was to stay in hiding.

More than likely Georgia started this conflict because they assumed the Russians would be reluctant to intervene, given that the U.S. was supposedly on the side of Georgia and would back them up.
I think there are a few Kurds who'd be happy to talk to the Georgians about this, just to give one recent example among many...
