AMERICAblog: Sarah Palin is taking a "Timeout" -- to begin "the education of Sarah Palin"

  • scytherius · 1 year ago
Putting Palin's politics aside for the moment (they are horrendous) she is pathetic. You choose a VP who can't even talk to the press? Utterly sad. Anyway, give it a week. She'll start getting hammered again in the press. I have maintained ever since the choice that this will ensure a Dem landslide and I still beleve that now even more than when he first chose her.
  • bish8 · 1 year ago
The Repblicans are masters at framing. Notice how it's Obama verses Palin instead of Obama/McCain? The media can make or break this election. Can't Oprah buy one of the networks? Our possible VP that no one knows is off limits to question? Why would the media let them get away with this?
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
Yep, and as I noted yesterday, Obama CLEARLY knows how this is a trap that is being set up for him. He has had a very smart response to any question about what he thought of her speech, and even of her. He insists that it's an Obama v. McCain race...
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
I think you are right. They will get a slight bounce, and then she will start to really be quetioned, the debates will put the final nail in the Neocon's coffin's.
  • Mark in Florida · 1 year ago
Once again, un-available to the press and under wraps, controlled. Didn't we just have eight years of this? Dear god.

Go vote at CNN, THUMBS DOWN ON MCSAME'S SPEECH.

Interesting--the states they're going to visit before she takes her sabbatical. I don't think Palin is going to make a difference.
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Palin went back to Alaska, because all those detractors are getting out of control up there while she is away. Plus she needs to update her Naughty teacher/MILF porn site. (admit it the long hair in a bun, those glasses and pant suit just cry out naughty teacher) Or maybe she has to go back to the same place Katherine Harris went to, where the GOP sends all their "pitbulls w/ lipstick" to get re-stepforded, or programmed for the next debacle.

    Re-Posted from morning thread.

Sounds like the Chency strategy........keep him/her away from everyone....send him/her to an undisclosed location and away from public scrutiny....
  • AdrianBrowne · 1 year ago
And it has nothing to do with The National Enquirer story that's coming out!
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
She's going back to Alaska to stock up on breast milk for while she's "on the trail"...oh wait, Bristol has been with baby Trig the whole time he's been here (anyone else notice that), so he's be able to breastfeed mommy while granny is "on the trail"...I keep forgetting
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
I hope there are tons of reporters in Alaska...I don't think she'll be able to avoid all of them. She may not be holding press conferences but you know that there are reporters out there who want to stick a mic in her face and get her to say something so they can 'scoop' everyone else and she'll either have to say 'no comment' or she'll open her mouth and something crazy will fly out...I hope things start coming apart at the seams, or should I say, continues coming apart at the seams...
  • naschkatzehussein · 1 year ago
That's right. I didn't think of that, but reporters are going to be following her up to Alaska just like they deserted Minneapolis for Gustav. You always follow the big story.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
She will have to run from the infotainment industry paparazzi now. It's going to be quite a spectacle.

Why is the McCain/Palin campaign putting Track's fellow soldiers in harm's way with their loose lips???
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Ener see the movie "Small Sacrifices". That's Palin to a tee!
  • Mikki --SE Pennsylvania · 1 year ago
Simple: Because they don't give a damn for the troops; its only how they can be used for political fodder --thoroughly despicable I know-- didn't you know John McShame was a POW? He doesn't like to talk about it- exceptg when he thinks it might give him carte blanche to do anything else. In the last century forty years ago POW meant prisoner of war-- now it means prisoner of Wingnuts which is exactly what McShame is. He going to change Washington--- what abouit the fact that he is one of the manjor problems in Washington. Hows Chuck Keating doing John? We know that Cindy has dealings with him even if you deny you do.
Why didn't McCain's "big speech" mention his being a Collaborator and and Adulterer? Did you think that might not go down too well with the "base?" And how about the low down on Sarah, the tart from the tundra?Did you think she might be a chance for some nookie on the campaign trail? I'd be kinda careful about that sort of thing John, Cindy might not like it...and you can't forget she has the money! Without her you'd just be another poor broke and broken-down veteran living under a bridge. You've been in Washington almost three decades and what have you done for veterans???
Oh yes John-- once and for all-- I AM NOT YOUR FRIEND!
  • Gorgonzola · 1 year ago
I dont think the press, owned and operated by the military/corporate octopus is going to complain about being shut out from interviewing the candy bar queen. More than likely you'll hear Cokie and the rest cover up the whole thing as being best for the country.
  • Average Joe · 1 year ago
This is funny .After all the talk about how hot Sarah Palin is,this poll appeared on the website of WTAM radio .WTAM is a mostly conservative talk station ,so I am surprised by the results.

    How hot is Sarah Palin?
    Hot - 39.72% (707 votes)
    Not bad for a cougar - 6.85% (122 votes)
    She's not hot at all - 53.43% (951 votes)

here is the link to the website
    http://www.wtam.com/pages/cybervote/?r=617

Was this poll hijacked by the Liberal haters?
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Is that pic of her in the flag bikini holding the gun real? If it is, now I'm even more convinced she is crazazy...
  • bacalove · 1 year ago
McCain wants to keep Palin away from the Press, but Sarah Palin is a Celebrity now and just like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears will be pursued by the Press. As you can see, Sentaor McCain, what goes around, Comes Around! God's Hand of Judgment is Swift!

And, You know, Jesus was a Community Organizer and Pilate was a Governor (Hah!) so was George Bush, so much for Executive Experience...

    "Breaking News.....

We will have breaking news regarding an ongoing story around 10am Alaska time on Friday......"

    AndrewHalcro.com, Alaskan Blogger
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Unfortunately I don't think the paparazzi will slog all the way to Alaska (probably not enough $ in it unless she walks around in a bikini). The local media I've heard are too scared of the local police and politicians who belong to the same cult - - hive -- colony -- I mean political party. Remember Wasilla is one of the larger cities in Alaska and that town's pop. is > than 10,000. Hell, Alaska only has a few hundred thousand people doesn't it?
  • bacalove · 1 year ago
Wrong, US, OK, Enquirer Magazine and People Magazines/Weekly's are all hounding her, as well as the MSM!  There is a feeding frenzy going on out there!  If you are a Republican I can well understand why you said this.
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Okay, so does this mean all is well with McCain and the press? It sounds as if the media had their one moment of fury and now intends to sit back and take at face value whatever reason McCain's campaign gives for the absent Sarah Palin.

I do believe she is going home to hone her skills for the upcoming debate. By honing her skills, I mean she is going home to practice snide and sarcastic retorts to serious questions,a sharpening of her talons!!!!
  • M12b3m21a · 1 year ago
Well, I can see that all of the commenters so far have already made up their mind to trash Palin. There are some real cheap shots here that are obviously from a lack of knowledge. Palin did great and will do great. She will be back on the campaign trail and when she does, watch out. She will blow Obama and Biden away!
  • tlsintx · 1 year ago
I, for one, pray fervently that McCain cannot get rid of the ultraconservative right's champion, Sarah Palin.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
He can't get rid of her now, she knows too much. She probably won't go without a "deal" for her homeland, the great independent country of Alaska.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
LMAO...even the girls don't like her, she won't blow anything if it won't further her political career, and even then it would probably be an old fart like McBraindead.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
    I wouldn't say anything/anyone.

Supposedly she's had at least one affair.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
And her excuse will be.....drumroll "but I didn't inhale"
  • houstonray · 1 year ago
Yeah but did she swallow? Oh, I'm sorry, shouldn't have gone there...my bad...

Is Bristol losing weight? When's her due date?

Think she's really the Mother of Trig and They're only pretending that Bristol is pregnant so they can blame the meanies in the media (and Soundboy) for the miscarriage?

Would they play the ultimate sympathy card? First day out, and Mommy had Bristol holding the baby? Hmmm?
  • aquarius2 · 1 year ago
Cheap shots??? Excuse me, but when Sarah Palin went on a national stage and mocked and belittled the opposition, Congress and the entire Democratic party she set herself up to receive much of the same.

I am damn tired of the Republicans spewing forth any garbage they think will get votes and then whining when someone yells foul. AND I am really tired of sycophants like you expecting me to sit back and be silent. Sarah Palin insulted ME, she insulted the Democratic party and she deserves whatever I feel like saying in response to her insults.
  • Soundboy_jeff_meanie · 1 year ago
interesting... cindy goes to Georgia... palin gets shipped off to Alaska.

umm, is it just me or is part of the GOP rule with women in general 'out of sight, out of mind'.

before someone slams that comment as sexist (although, the trolls are missing lately)... tell me why its wrong.
  • M12b3m21a · 1 year ago
Jesus and George Bush may have been community organizers, perhaps a good thing, but they did more than that. They both had experience that went beyond that. George Bush, as does Palin, had executive experience. Neither Barak Obama nor Joe Biden have had any. John McCain had executive experience in the military, so between them McCain and Palin have had executive experience, Obama and Biden have none.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Are you comparing Palin to Bush? hahahaha Yep, that's the kind of experience we need – more submediocre governing.
    Surely this is a snark.
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Yeh and we can all see how well all that "executive" experience went can't we. Bush was a CEO of Three different Corps. that all went bankrupt with him at the helm. Palin was gov. of Alaska, which has less people , less law enforcement, than any "city" in the lower 48 ,the smallest National Guard unit in the Country, and More Oil Companies than Texas, for one and a half years, which she spent firing people who knew how to do their jobs. She was the Mayor of a town of 9000 people. Hell the University where I went to school had more students and a bigger police force than that town, and I wouldn't go out and say the Dean was qualified to be VP because he had "executive" experience.

John McBush has as much executive experience in the military as W had in the Tx Nat'l Guard, none because they were both MIA.

Why would the most-experienced need the most study time?

    Unfair question?

    Caribou Barbie goes to Alaska.
That sounds like an old-fashioned Bob Hope/Bing Crosby on-the-road movie. It's too much to expect Technicolor but will it be a talkie? Inquiring minds want to know.

wow, who knew George Bush was a community organizer?
was that the coke parties at Yale sponsored by the cheerleaders?
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Well he was a fraternity president I guess that counts as executive experience because the fraternity probably had more member than the pop. of Wasilla Alaska.

Please read this letter from a women who lives in Sarah Palin town, while she was mayor and attended most of the meetings. Lots of amaing facts that the GOP might not want us to know
She has a lot to say about her because a lot of other people are too AFRAID to tell the truth about Palin.
Palin is just another Republican thug dressed in woman's clothing.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
That spray-on tan of McCain's didn't help his melonoma. That's reckless.

Where the Hell is Sarah? She's supposedly the most experienced, yet she's calling time-out to study up for...for what?

    Where's the Barackacuda?

I thought that one of the roles as VP is to preside over the senate. How can Palin do that if she hasn't been to Washington?

BTW she's off to real good start with Senate majority leader Harry Reid.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
McCain said he's looking forward to introducing her to Washington...if she gets all her homework done.

Governor Palin Goes to Washington....has a nice ring to it. You know, in a bad B movie kinda way...
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
I snark at the Caribou Barbie, but it doesn't matter, she will not change any minds of undecided to the GOP she only whipped up the base or the 28% of the country who still believe everything the GOP and Karl Rove spit out. IN the end it well just be another dead weight around McBush's sinking campaign. I think many will either not vote or switch to Obama because she is such an absurd pick. If I were a moderate Republican who had any reasonableness I would be offended and scared by the pick. Would any Reasonable person want her in the presidency if McCain (73yoa) has a heart attack or another bout with cancer. Not. Now more than ever it has becaome important to see those medical records on McCains physical condition, whihc are being destroyed or hidden away in the deepest bunker in the blackest site along with all his "former" doctors.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
How about HER medical records...let's see when that last baby of hers was born.
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Hmmm. Interesting Very interesting. Maybe Bristol's Beaux was already a daddy, huh.
  • JohnInTexas · 1 year ago
Well he said he'd been with lots of girls...so at least Baby Slut should at least get her vjayjay checked out for STDs and HIV, etc. And the hospital Mama Slut said she had the baby in doesn't seem to have any record of it. Baby Sluts breasts are big for a reason, not because of a bun IN the oven, because of the bun that is still nursing.
  • BLOGGING BITCH! · 1 year ago
Maybe Todd needs rehab. It happens. He's not going to be watching the kids, is he? That would be as irresponsible as having a spray-on tan when your face is already riddled with tumors.

    Surely not.
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
Bristol can take care of the baby. She'll be able to breast feed the baby. After all the age of consent is 16 in Alaska and it is OK because she although she didn't listen to abstinence only ed., the gov't and her faith don't allow any other option. It's not like she a CHOICE or anything.
  • benb · 1 year ago
So McCain and Palin will be dodging live interviews until November?
  • txexspeedy · 1 year ago
What about the debates. I guess Palin will need to practice the skill she learned at journalism school in Idaho. I want to see the medical records she had from the year of college she spent in Hawaii. Why did she have to come home so soon. didn't she have to get married when she already a month pregnant. Sarah - Shhh, get your ass to the alter before you start showing; Jamie Lynn - Shame on you and your crappy parents; Bristol - hooray for your 'choosing' life for the baby and you excellent parents, please be on T.V. for all those teens thinking about having sex without any sex education.

SARAH PALIN IS IRRELEVANT - FACADE AND RHETORIC VS. REALITY

Assuming, for the sake of discussion, the best case scenario for McCain and he wins ALL the deeply red states and AK, AZ, TX, MO, IN, WV and GA, which he should do, and also the states of NV, MT, ND, SD, CO, VA, NC and NH, which he shouldn’t do, in order to reach 270 electoral votes he’d have to ALSO win either OH and PA or OH and FL or PA and FL. Go to the electoral-vote.com website and make a realistic evaluation. Anybody want to give me odds on McCain being able to basically run the table on Obama? By the way, Sarah Palin is the GOP's version of a bright shinning fishing lure whose purpose is to entice conservatives to bite on John McCain's hook.
  • left_coast_doug · 1 year ago
So now we're into the real dogfight, the 60 days leading up to the election. So the Republican slime machine should be running at full power by later today. Given that the gullible and the patently stupid will buy the whole GOP story as usual, we need to do some hard-hitting stuff of our own. One issue that really lends itself could be the subject of a TV spot something like this:

(Tight shot – profile face of young girl in silhouette)

    This is Jessica.

    (begin slow pullout)

Her dad has been sexually abusing her since she was five years old.

    (pullout reveals pregnancy in profile)

Now she’s ten. She’s just reached puberty, and she’s pregnant. By her own father.
Sarah Palin wants her to have the baby, who will be her daughter and her half-sister. She and John McCain think this is OK and promise to make sure it happens. There’s a good chance you just think it's sick.

You can’t possibly be serious, can you, Sarah? Can you?

Barack Obama and Joe Biden. For a choice.
  • Joe_Bourgeois · 1 year ago
Kind of dumb to send her off at this point, and isolate her when the buzz on her is the highest. Haven't candidacies in the past suffered because of taking a vacation right after the convention? Why didn't they do this before?

    Oh, wait --
  • Hannah · 1 year ago
How much time did it take Joe Biden to get up to speed to be Obama's running mate?

None, because he's already qualified to be VP and president, unlike the Alaska Governor, who admits to not knowing what the VP does and does not express any interest in or knowledge of foreign affairs.

This whole thing is a sick joke and insulting to Americans and the very real problems we face both as individuals and as a nation.
