AMERICAblog: Sarah Palin: "John McCain knows how to win a war."

  • bluestockton · 1 year ago
A few weeks ago, Olbermann did a Special Comment which told McSame that if he knows how to win the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, it's his patriotic duty to tell Bush now instead of waiting until he's president himself.
  • JustAnOldLady · 1 year ago
We could ask her if we we were allowed to............
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
Gwen Ifill was an awful moderator. She asked no follow ups to Palin's canned answered written down for her.

McCain doesn't know how to win wars. He only knows how to drop bomb, crash jets, and squeal like a pig when captured.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
she got spooked by the right wing attacks on her.

where was the abortion question? how about evolution? rape kits? anything like that???
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
you can't ask specific questions like that in a debate. It looks to partisan.
  • bob915 · 1 year ago
I'm with Nigel...............I really thought she would steer things according to the debate guidelinesset up by the Commission. She pretty much let Palin golly gosh darn herself through a Repub Talking Points Infomercial. She should at least have reminded Lil Miss Wasilla to stick to the relevant quieries. Count me as wrong on that. BUT---as I said in a previous post, SHE'S DONE folks.............She barely moved the uncommitted, and that was the only good she could have delivered for the ticket. Tuesday will come with Obama in the driver's seat, and McCain will be as pissy as ever. OBAMA BIDEN 08

The Republican Primary. Now maybe "we" didn't win it, but "he" did. And with John McCain, what's good for McCain is good for the country.
  • Chris From Maine · 1 year ago
the only war McCain fought in, WE LOST!
  • HereinDC · 1 year ago
I was at a debate party last night.....10 of us in the room ...none of us knew each other.

5 of us all at once said, "Won a war?"
  • MindyM · 1 year ago
Thank You!!! Gramps has been saying this throughout the campaign, and I've been yelling this same question back at the television every time he brings it up.....along with a million other things about this election cycle, this drives me CRAZY!
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
Knows how to win but can't tell until he is elected? I'm sure the service personnel who die during this period of can't tell will understand. And, one would have to have an IQ of around
    37 to believe such BS.
  • nothingasitseems · 1 year ago
That's exactly what I was thinking when she said that.... Let's see... Vietnam? uhhh, dude get's shot down in his plane and get's captured by the enemy. Desert Storm? What role did McCain play in that dust up? Desert Storm deux? Every single thing he's said about this fracas has been wrong... even the bullshit about "the surge is working." That's bullshit. We paid those people off, first. It's amazing how much money will calm down the stupidity.
  • Wesinoregon · 1 year ago
Yeah, wonder why it's a secret? How Un-American is that? And she's crying now like a baby about Couric's questions to her. Can't wait for Tina Fey to take care of her Saturday night. Like Chevy Chase said, "Tina, destroy her."

John knows how to win a war? Then why won't he tell Bush?
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
John McCain has been helping win the War Against The Middle Class since day one...

And yes, he really is that old.
  • blueoysterjoe · 1 year ago
The War on Terra, you islamo-pinko-liberalist!

Murka has won the War on Terra, you baby killin', God hatin' whimmy whammer.

USA USA USA. Surge, baby surge!
  • PeteWa · 1 year ago
What war was McCain involved in that he won?

Remember how deftly McCain won the war started by Bush involving Push Polling and other underhanded attack on McCain's family by Bush and Rove in the 2000 election cycle?

Oh yeah, that's right, he didn't fight back.

The war on the environment is going nicely....
  • 123akennedy · 1 year ago
Well, he did blow up an aircraft carrier and kill about 125 sailors during the Viet Nam war before he got shot down, oh wait a minute, that was an American Aircraft Carrier, the USS Forestal, I forgot. Yea, tell me again, how DOES he know how to win a war.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
  • Serendipitymyst · 1 year ago
That's the same thing I thought when she said that. "Exactly how does McCain know how to win war when the war he fought in, we didn't win."
  • canuck55 · 1 year ago
He's winning the war on the US economy.
Things are getting so bad for US companies that their wholly owned Canadian subsidiaries are lending them money:
    http://www.reportonbusiness.com/servlet/story/R...
From the Globe and Mail, Xerox Canada is lending the parent company $300million.

Well the "wars" that John McCain supported in the Senate that succeeded..
    Persian Gulf War 1990-1991
    Kosovo 1999
    Afghanistan 2001-2002

Catastrophic defeats supported by John McCain
    Iraq 2003-present
    Afghanistan 2002-present
    Georgia 2008
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
McCain always vote for war. He even sang a song about "Bombing Iran". But voting for war, doesn't mean you know how to win them. Bush 41 and Clinton know how to win wars. Bush 43 and McCain only know how to get our troops stuck in a quagmire. Giddy giddy goooo...all right!
  • okojo · 1 year ago
I was responding to John's point of what wars that Senator John McCain were "involved" in that were successful. I think Senator McCain has always been way too belligerent for my taste. Given that allusions of holding back in some ways connotes weaknes in McCain's eyes, means that many innocent people die from bombs that missed, sketchy intelligence that gets an assault team machine gunning to death an innocent family in their home, or a wedding party in Afghanistan blown to bits.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
voting for a war and "being involved in" the planning and winning are two very different things. He's not part of the pentagon or other planning operations... his contribution is to VOTE and that is all.
  • OlderButWiser · 1 year ago
How about that war on poverty? Another round of job cuts...and unemployment claims.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
ALERT - Drudge Report has a VP debate poll. Sarah wins 70 to 28. Stop by and give a vote to the real winner.
  • Rufus · 1 year ago
I'm no fan of McCain. Obama has had my vote from the beginning. However, McCain didn't blow up his aircraft carrier. A missile cooked off from another aircraft and the missile struck his aircraft on the carrier deck. In this case, he was the target and not the cause.
  • Nigel Elliott · 1 year ago
McCain crashed five jets. No one is blaming him for the carrier incident. We're commenting on his flight record, which matches his grades at the academy, which were dismal!
  • RLG · 1 year ago
John I yelled that at the TV last night.
  • EmGD · 1 year ago
Imaginary Vietnam. In the version in McCain and Palin's mind evil liberals weren't able to snatch victory out of Ronald Reagan's hands with a debilitating communist gay bomb like in real life.

The war on picking a qualified VP candidate?
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
Well, he is very good at crashing airplanes.
  • lcdrrek · 1 year ago
I wish Obama would ask the question. Please tell us what qualifications McCain has in winning wars. Glad John asked this question. If Obama would bring up some things from the Rolling Stone article about McCain, we might all get to see Johnnies head explode. Obama needs to put some pressure on him like those terrible folks at the Des Moines Register did, maybe asking "why are you a liar", accuse him of having pissed whatever honor he may have possessed away to "win an election". Once Johnnie started to spin around and have smoke coming out of his ears for all to witness, the election is ovah!!
  • KISSman · 1 year ago
Didn't she follow up that comment with something like, "He's done it."? Whatever the case, she was clearly implying that McCain is some sort of war pro. All I know is that he certainly doesn't fly planes very well.
  • sukabi1 · 1 year ago
McCain is clearly waging a war against reality, too bad he's lost the war with insanity.
  • 123akennedy · 1 year ago
    my bad.
