AMERICAblog: Sarah Palin pardons turkey, while others are being slaughtered, on camera, behind her

  • William Jensen · 1 year ago
I finally have a good grasp of what "blithering" means. Her voice is like Phil Specter's wall of sound only the wall is a screech of endless stupdiity and inanity words that remind meof Charlie Brown's mom..

OMG that is to damn funny. Bla bla bla kill blah blah turkeys blah blah blah.

    "Suffocating Turkeys"

... a description of the Palin/McCain campaign, or

... a really great name for a rock band (with apologies to Dave Barry).
  • Keirmeister · 1 year ago
Sarah Palin is a human run-on sentence.

That said, girlfriend is hysterically clueless! I have to say I'm liking her a helluva lot more now that she's not campaigning. She can't hurt us now, but her comedy is golden!
  • larry · 1 year ago
Positively delicious. Let this woman keep running her mouth wherever she can and will.....pray...I mean pray...the Repubs run this winch against Obama in 2012...pleezzzz. Lets see her speaking in tongues take on the Southern Baptist Huckabee go at it with the Mormon in the primary! It will be the best....it will nail the coffin shut. Come on Progressives, Democrats...this woman is a gift !!!!!!

A winch is going to run against Obama?

Well at least the winch accessories at winch depot won't cost $150,000!

A surreal subtext follows her everywhere. This is how you know you're dealing with a whacko.
  • exhack · 1 year ago
God, if that isn't ever true. When I was involved in far-right GOP politics in the '90s, I met a whole cast of characters that that applied to. It was like being in a mirror universe where a right-wing mirror version of Hunter Thompson (stoned out of his skull on hillbilly heroin and Halcion instead of pot and coke) ruled as an omnipotent God: Fear and Loathing on the Far-Right Fringe.
  • KarenMrsLloydRichards · 1 year ago
It's the preview of a remake of "Fargo," directed by Rielle Hunter.

I immediately thought of the woodchipper scene, too! I laughed in the same way, too--it's just so PERFECTLY awful that I have no choice but to laugh, lest my brain explode.

Is it weird that when she talked about her son in Iraq, I honestly thought she had named one of her kids "Stryker Brigade?"

I couldn't watch when this was on MSNBC. So gross. My mom was so disgusted and said she was a weirdo for standing there.
  • Griffon · 1 year ago
Palin has become an unintentional parody of herself. I'm not quite sure of the implications of her groundbreaking maladroitness, but it makes her a natural successor to the republican bush-brand of staggering incompetence. Comedians everywhere, fearful of the dearth of material with bush's departure, are tearfully on their knees blowing kisses to the GOP; the grift that keeps on giving...
  • Dave of the Jungle · 1 year ago
I call on the Republican Party to relinquish operations and disband, forever.

apparently they make exceptions for choking your turkey.

I had to watch this again. I am just AMAZED the she actually said "OK" to shooting with that background. CLUE-LESS. She actually wanted people to trust her with nuke-you-lur weapons?

She really is the gift that keeps on giving. I was hoping I'd never see her hateful face again but if it's for stuff like this, I can deal with it....keep 'em coming "Seeearah"...

And what's worse, if some of the postelection focus groups and whatnot are to be believed, the Reppies WANT to own her. What is so bad about that. Turkeys are slaughtered everyday where did you think they came from?????? She's out supporting small business, good for her
  • pedro_s · 1 year ago
I see Taser® deaths of repeated voltage on unwieldy civilians; and repeated findings of "Natural Causes" by the coroners, relieving the actions of those officers applying lethal force from answering to civil authority and grieving relations. And retaining the 'non-lethal' weapon status for the corporate owners.
Allegory, or lying with a straight face, is this the double speak of just one fearless leader?
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
Idiot! Idiot! Idiot! Sarah Palin is an idiot! LMAO There were a lot of Big Turkeys there that day.
  • Njaal · 1 year ago
I think it's more questionable that the camera crew did not react to the slaughtering. If it wasn't Sarah Palin, or whoever is unpopular in america these days, they wouldn't have gone through with this scene. People tend to look past the intentions of the press when it comes to things like this.
  • Aman-About-Town.com · 1 year ago

She's going to drop a frozen turkey in the fryer...
  • DCinDC · 1 year ago
Yes, Palin did this great comedy routine without any rehearsal. She is a natural. Some may say she is an idiot and dumb because she is a politician and let things like this terrible photo op occur. But, I say she is outstanding because she is really a comedian posing as a politician that understands the satire behind this photo op.

    sarcasm
  • jimdicken · 1 year ago
Palin was set up by the news crew. NOthing more or less. Palin is right... this is nothing to be ashamed of.. do you really think those big fat turkeys get on your table without having to wring their knecks at some point. This is a news media gone berserk situation. An attractive woman who is for hunting and guns is the worst threat to Liberals in over a generation and they will do all in their power to try to make her look like a hick. While at the same time Palin is showing them there is NOTHING wrong with us hicks..
  • ckerst · 1 year ago
Yeah she was set up. Nothing wrong with being a hick but stupid is another story.
  • hfish · 1 year ago
I think it's stupid that CNN displays this as a gaffe. What's unusual about it? For an awful lot of people, this is where they work. This is how food gets made. Did you think your turkey spontaneously appeared in beautiful packaging overnight in the meat section by itself?

The point is exactly that this is NOT bizarre, or weird, or stupid, but that it is part of normal life, and the fact that CNN is playing up the idea that she's somehow from another planet because she's not afraid to show what goes on in everyday not-so-urban life is very divisive. To be fair, I think Palin's move is kind of brilliant in an evil, party-politics "real America versus fake America" sort of way, but I would have thought CNN would have been smarter than to leap for the bait. Farmers will see this and relate to her. City people see this and are embarassed. The division in America is continued, not least by the media playing along. Honestly.
  • dusgruntled american · 1 year ago
    YES, AGREED

However, I would never call Palin brilliant.

  • henrythefifth · 1 year ago
My jaw hit the floor when I was watching this. Seriously, she has to be the biggest idiot ever unleashed on us (thanks again, McCain!). Talking about pardoning the turkey in front of a guillotine and a literal blood bath. Beyond stupid.

Glad to see the concern trolls are out and still actively defending Palin on liberal blogs. You go peeps!
  • nikolai · 1 year ago
For the hicks out there with their lectures on "How do you think meat gets on your table" and "See, Sarah Palin is for the farmer, the butcher, the everyman and this is why they support her" blah, blah, blah,
sorry, she's a dope and this simply unscores what MOST people know already. I mean, she goes to a turkey farm to pardon a turkey, then stands there giving yet another bone-headed interview why turkeys are being slaughtered right behind her? Sorry, she's an IDIOT!!!
  • ckerst · 1 year ago
"A little bit of levity," as the turkey bucks and kicks dying behind her BWAHAHAHAHAHA! What a moron.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago
OMG -- to laugh or to cry? That is the most dosgusting thing I have ever seen. I was so distracted by the turkey blood that I missed most of the nonsense that was tumbling out of her mouth. Did she mention another kid ... Stryker? No? And I love how the turkey killer guy kept turning around as is to listen, with a big grin.
  • fl79tr · 1 year ago
I think she was concentrating so hard on delivering her caned material beauty queen style that she failed to notice what was going on around her.
All hail the future of the Republican party!

She is truly in a league of her own.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
No, this is what makes it so incredibly bad. She was ASKED if she thought it was an appropriate screen shot for her presser, and she said YES!

"we'll probably invite criticism for doing this!"

Uh, yeah, you probably will, idiot.
  • duchessofbilgewater · 1 year ago

She IS the face of the repukes, like it or not. And she is exactly what I think a true red stater looks, acts, and talks like.

Oh bullsh*t, jimdicken. It's the about irony and the comedy. I know perfectly well how these tasty critters get to my table and I'm thankful that someone does the dirty work. In one sentence you whine about liberals making her look like a hick and then in very next sentence you say she is showing there is nothing wrong with being a hick! Just like Palin, you are clueless.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
YOU SAID IT! I was just about to write the conservatives are going to bitch because she was "just trying to give a 'Sarah Palin shout out!' to how we process animals at slaughterhouses. They fail to concede she is a NEWSREADER with ZERO political abilities, and very bad judgment. It is why she immediately soured with most Americans because after her rollout she proved, and has proven, time and again she does NOT need to be making any kind of major policy decisions. She can't even decide whether or not to stand in front of a bunch of animals being slaughtered, and hold a political press conference. Of course, conservatives who whine and bitch just prove how RIGHT we were to DEFEAT that incredibly stupid Palin as an instant President when McThesuleh kicks the bucket.
  • nikolai · 1 year ago
GAWD the woman is so, so, so... VAPID. You've gotta ask yourself, don't her supporters see the humor and irony (and stupidity) in this? If so, how can they still support such an idiot? If not, OMG!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Chirpily adding, "we'll probably invite criticism for doing this!"

    Understatement of the year, IDIOT!
  • dusgruntled american · 1 year ago
I don't see the big deal at all. WTF is the big deal with the backdrop being some turkey preparation? We are nearing thanksgiving, it makes sense to me.

I do think Palin is a moron, but this is not news by any means.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
You aren't thinking about the stupidity of holding a PRESS conference in front of turkeys being slaughtered. I live on a farm/ranch. I've taken animals to the slaughter house. I WOULD NOT ever hold a press conference in front of animals being slaughtered. COME ON... Surely you are just being satirical and sarcastic. Its just plain STUPID. It shows Palin is TOO STUPID for words and did not EVER need to be near any kind of major policy decision if she decides to do a damned press conference in front of animals being killed for Thanksgiving. It PROVES she is just a vapid newsreader with ZERO political acumen.
  • Al · 1 year ago
Let's see... she just pardoned a turkey and then immediately goes over in front of the slaughter area to get interviewed. If nothing else, it feels like gross hypocrisy. And certainly it feels like she still has no idea that the American political landscape is sculpted by public perception and that our perception, for better or worse, is what we get from interviews like this. Where she looks clueless.
  • Ryan · 1 year ago

  • CobaltBlue · 1 year ago
When I listen to her speak, the words of Dick Cavett about Palin come to mind -

"What will ambitious politicos learn from this? That frayed syntax, bungled grammar and run-on sentences that ramble on long after thought has given out completely are a candidate’s valuable traits?"

It's true, after her minuscule thoughts play out, her mouth keeps sputtering out words that destroy sense and logic. She’s needs a shock collar to jolt her out of her chatter surge, with one of her handlers quick at the switch.

Here's Cavett's the full article about Palin's wayward way with language.

    http://cavett.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/14/the-...

Pretty damn funny. What a stupid and annoying person she is. She's so full of shit! Ugh.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Speaking of slaughter houses. There is a guy who works at the local processing facility and always asks, "What ya got for us?" when I bring sheep to be slaughtered in our covered trailer. He is the one who has to put them down, etc. I thought I'd play a practical joke on him, drove in and he cheerily asked, "What you got for us?" I replied, "We brought our Shetland Pony!" His eyes bugged out for a moment, and then he grinned and said, "Load him out!" bwahahahahahaa!

    I know... gallows humor.

THAT SAID, I WOULD NEVER... NEVER.... NEVER.... DO ANY KIND OF PRESS conference around animals being killed! That is the STUPIDEST thing Palin has done... YET! I'm so glad her stupidity continues to shine. That way, we don't have to hear how "unfair" it was that her "excellency" didn't get to be Vice President. Well, we still hear it but all we have to do is point to examples like this as to why we were so right to reject her.
  • sisterfaith · 1 year ago

Pathetic idiots. You know what is naive and stupid. Anyone who eats turkey and is offended by this. Stick your heads in the sand and go back to your mother's teet. How do you think the turkeys get to the table. This is a woman who is not affraid of REALITY. I hate you all and hope your turkey burns and catches on fire. I realize that most of you are not grown up enough to examine the real world and this just proves it. Oh yeah. Cowboy....get a job quit posting your opines.
  • nikto · 1 year ago
    John, you don't get it.

It's not that anyone is at all offended by killing turkeys.

It's just that it makes a distracting and embarrassing immediate backdrop
for someone trying to make political points, while turkey heads get lopped-off behind her.
    Ya' think?

Not offensive, just dumb and distracting.
It shows Palin's tendency towards naivety.

Oh, and as a conservative, you surely would have joined in the laughter and criticism
if it had been, say, Biden, instead of PALIN.

YES, YOU WOULD HAVE & YOU KNOW IT.

Are you man enough to admit it?

'John' - or SARAH - first off it's "teat" not "teet." I'd a thought after having at least 4 kids already you'd know that, also. Go figure.

Second "I hate you all and hope your turkey burns and catches on fire." isn't really as funny as it could be. Some people's gifts are more to be funny when they are not trying.

Just be yourself, don't try to hard. You are so funny! Just remember to do your next Christmas interview while field dressing a caribou like Sparrow suggested.

As a longtime vegetarian I was happy to see this make CNN. The reason it is so "funny" can be attributed to our huge disconnect on how we treat animals. If people had to kill animals themselves we would likely see many more vegetarians.

I invite you to turn off your monitor and just watch a blank screen while she chatters away. The droning, meaningless chatter is almost unbearable without the backdrop of the turkey slaughter to take our attention off of Sarah Palin. At least with it in the background, there is something to focus on other than her inanity.

  • nikolai · 1 year ago
One thing's for sure; Palin is finding ways to stay in the spotlight, and negative attention is better than NO attention, is probably the way her and her handlers have figured it. Look at the coverage this has received, after all! You have to ask yourself, overall, does this video hurt her? Not really, as her supporters have written here, "How do you think meat gets to your table?" And, "See, she's for the joe-six-pack-blue-collar-workers!" Her detractors are not going to multiply over this, but merely say what they've been saying already about the ditz (who maybe isn't such a ditz). I say she's dangerous and we'd better watch her like a hawk, no pun intended.
  • Lee · 1 year ago
    Who cares about turkeys...

What's frightening isn't her being oblivious, but what she actually said about her takeaway from the campaign:

"... but also, just a... a great appreciation for this great country - there are so many good Americans who are just desiring of, of their government to kind of "get out of the way" and allow them to grow and progress and allow our businesses to grow and progress, so great appreciation for those who share that value..."

Not seeing the forest (52%) for the trees (46%) is one thing, but it's something else to only see hobbits...

Government's been doing too much attention to business?

Not to mention that she also happily comments that in her family, she is the one responsible for the turkey! Then again, this is someone who shoots wolves from airplanes.

You liberal morons enjoy your tofu Thanksgiving. You are clueless about the poultry industry and pretty much everything else that is "real" in life. You can bash Sara all you like but it doesn't change the fact she's done more for the good of America than any of you have. half of you are probably on some sort of public aid. The other haldf will lose their jobs to the forthcoming economic Obamanation.
