AMERICAblog: Sarah Palin still refusing to give interviews to the media

If you have the ability to find your way out of a paper bag, you can see your way thru this one. Only the dumbest are trapped, in the bag, that is.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- By a 2-to-1 ratio, Americans blame Republicans over Democrats for the financial crisis that has swept across the country the past few weeks, a new national poll suggests.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
"And Obama has a 10-point lead over McCain when it comes to who respondents think would better handle the economy overall."
    http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/22/cnn.poll...

    That might be Checkmate.
It should be over for McCain and his wolf killing, media hiding, women hating psychopathic running mate.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
oops, Bill Clinton didn't want Democrats to be mean to Palin. Sorry, Bill.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Bill Clinton = snake
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    Hi Missy :)

I talked today with a friend who is canvassing for Obama in Albuquerque. While Obama's numbers are a little higher, she and her workers are finding strong McPalin support...their main reason being: abortion. They also repeat the "Obama will raise our taxes" meme.

I am tired of these m'fuckin' snakes on this m'fuckin' plane!
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
The anti choice group vote one issue only. They are hopless.
  • Happy_Housewife · 1 year ago
No one ever went broke underestimating the stupidity and racism of Americans - including a distressing number of my union brothers and sisters.

The most appalling thing is that, if McCain wins, we will certainly have job cuts. But since the most stupid of them are the ones who have been there the longest (and do the least amount of work) it probably won't matter
  • floydbogart · 1 year ago
And with John McCain showing signs that his age is catching up with his cognitive abilities, this is a real concern.

Not only should Gov. Palin submit to the normal level of press scrutiny, but Senator McCain should disclose his medical records in an open way. Not the "3 Hour" perusal by a select few journalists that he has allowed so far.

What I see here is a man that wants to be President so badly that he will do and say virtually anything to get there.
  • Bush_Bites · 1 year ago
    That's OK.

Todd tells her what to do anyway.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
OH, SCORE! RACHEL MADDOW has a Republican Senator, Lyda Green, on LIVE right now telling the American people what a train wreck Palin is. DAMN. Palin has scorned Lyda and Lyda ain't havin' any of it! Its great.

    GO RACHEL GO!

State Senator Lyda Green is talking about how ruthless, cold and typically Republican Sarah truly is.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
I wish Caribou Barbie would speak to the press. There's some serious questions that need to be asked. I know I'm very curious as to her deeply held religious beliefs, such as identifying witches, casting out demons, hand-layin', prayin' away teh gay and snake handling.

    Especially snake handling.

McCain/Palin - Thanks, but no thanks!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
State Alaska Senator Lyda Green just stated on Rachel Maddow show she had her husband sit in on an important meeting and sounds like he was used to intimidate her. OUCH!

    Love that Rachel Maddow. LOVE.HER.
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
What an astounding coward Palin is. Oh she'd be toufgh against those terrorists and world leaders wouldn't she? What a useless buffoon.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
But, she can see Russia from her house.
  • scytherius · 1 year ago
lol I SO keep forgetting that.
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
I guess she and Levi could lob grenades at Russian moose from their backyard.
  • red_dwarf · 1 year ago
Actually, she cannot. It's too far away and there's a mtn range in the way. Another day, another lie.

    OT -

    http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087...

It is becoming obvious the repub game plan on the bailout, use it to distance from BushCo and call it bailout mania.

The stupid fucking cowards inj the dem party so willing to solve any problem with taxpayer dollars and more government, including problems only the market can solve, are walking right into the trap even despit the act's Section 8 which eliminates any review.

My prediction, the only way the dems lose the White Hpuse in 2008 is their support of the bailout that wins passage. The public does not want the bailout. Only Bush, Wall Street and the limousine liberal cowards that lead the democratic party in Congress considering bailout passage want a bailout.

Even an incoherent senile McCain can adopt a populist no big government, no big money Wall Street welfare momma ticket.

Obama's campaign better be aware, otherwise they will watch and learn the hard way.
  • Ben Dover · 1 year ago
I think any bailout decision should wait until after the November general election.

And never, ever, under any circumstances, allow Bush to have anything to do with any final decisions. Same for Paulson.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    I wholeheartedly agree.

Why do the current dems jump at any chance to increase governnment and/or spend government money?
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I want to know why the Democrats keep falling for the same crap Republicans feed them? I mean HOW MANY DAMNED times do they have to have the rug pulled out from under them, DAMMIT?
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Because on whole the ciurrent democratic leadership is feckless, weak and primarily a group of privileged cowards. Obama is not in that group. Pelosi. Emmanuel and Reid are.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I totally agree because if Republicans could WAIT until after the election to spring the McCain - Keating Five S&L crisis on us until President Bush the First was safely ensconsed then, by God, they can just cool their damned jets until after the election. I know the congress is itching to leave Washington, DC and campaign to save their cushy jobs but we should VOTE against any one of them who breaks ranks and does what Bu$hco. wants at this point!!!
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
    Right on! Absolutely!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Okay, the "Talk Me Down" Rachel Maddow segments are great, and this one is classic.

Bush is the WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

"Four HUMONGOUS crisis on his watch, with each one being capable of branding a President an utter failure... this all in one President?... BARGAIN!" Priceless...
  • mf_roe · 1 year ago
Rachel impresses me with her consistent evenhandedness, she is always fair and is totally willing to let opposing views be fully explained. But her contempt for Palin is really putting that quality to the test. A 15 minute interview with Palin would be all that it took. Like a sushi chief and a Tuna.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Oh, but I would pay BIG $$$ or even gold since the dollar is gonna collapse due to Bu$hco/Reagan policies to see Maddow slice and dice Palin!
  • gumbygirl · 1 year ago
She would gut Palin like a perch, and that, of course, is why we'll never see it!
  • reelactor · 1 year ago
Would someone please answer this question. Why in the hell would anyone cover a campaign when they won't consent to an interview? Turn off the cameras, turn off the mikes, snap off the tape recorders. I bet they would change overnight.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
True... they need to stop mentioning her PERIOD until she speaks. Stop recording her canned teleprompter speeches and do a complete media blackout on her.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Why isn't Palin being questioned for her poor judgment for having a Yahoo e-mail account to mix personal, private and government business? This just proves she doesn't know what the hell she is doing! What next? Governor Palin loses her blackberry with classified information on it?

If I were a celebrity, or especially a politician, I wouldn't be doing ANYTHING on Yahoo! that I didn't feel like the world could read about. The very idea she thought she could use that hackable type account and conduct business should just DISQUALIFY her for bad judgment and stupidity.

The media reporting on this "scandal" should mention how irresponsible it was of her to use Yahoo! for private / government messaging. The shock isn't that someone hacked it. The shock is she was that very ignorant to use the system in the first place, and to use such silly private questions to quickly hack her account? The hack was just WAITING to happen for God's sake. That would be like Palin protecting national security / classified information with the password: "Trig" (name of her son, and the first thing a hacker would try to access information)

She is WAY out of her league.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
    To repeat from downthread:

I talked today with a friend who is canvassing for Obama in Albuquerque. While Obama's numbers are a little higher, she and her workers are finding strong McPalin support...their main reason being: abortion. They also repeat the "Obama will raise our taxes" meme.

I am tired of these m'fuckin' snakes on this m'fuckin' plane!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
"Obama will raise our taxes" is exactly why I'm of the opinion this financial crisis should NOT be solved before the election. Let it percolate and let those Wal-Mart shopping "Obama will raise my taxes" idiots get a little hungry and decide who they should vote for. If politicians solve the problem before the election, the whole "Obama will raise my taxes" crowd won't realize what a DISASTER Bu$hco. has given them. They wouldn't be repeating that mantra if they weren't "comfortable" with the status quo. They need to be awakened so that instead of "Obama will raise my taxes!" turns to "By God, I'm voting against the fools who gave us this financial disaster!"
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Obama needs to go even further and say no to the bailout today because it will cause a tax increase. People understand that.

If Obama votes for ANY bailout and it passes, Obama loses the election unless McCain dies before November.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
And if Obama wants to assure his victory he will speak out now against the bailout.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    Spot on!
  • Gridlock · 1 year ago
Btw, print off that handy bar graph showingwho Obama's tax plan will benefit compared to MCCain. Carry it around. Hand it out.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Canvassers carry much more than bar graphs with them and they are very knowledgeable about Obama's positions on any topic. Today, more than once, my friend had her literature thrown back at her or to the ground. McPalin supporters do not want to be dissuaded of their talkingpoints. Nothing will change their sorry minds.
  • shanobama · 1 year ago
He already did. No to Paulson, no to no oversight, no to leaving out the average home owners, no to a blank check, no to executive pay, etc...

And yes to government profit participation forany loans.

We should be buying these companies. Fannie and Freddie should go back to government operations and become what the government created them for, helping modest people get home loans and college loans.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I want to agree with you, but I am scared Obama and friends don't have the nads to be that fierce! I'm hoping I'm wrong, but it seems those that have risen to that level of power are very easily manipulated by this kind of crisis affecting big money. If he did steal the ridiculous so-called maverick line from McCain by saying, "Not only no, but HELL NO!" to this while explaining he will not pile on taxpayers with a bailout of this kind to rescue Billionaires then he would indeed win in a cakewalk election. I'm not going to hold my breath, and I'm not going to not support him if he "goes along" because the Palin - McSame election would, indeed, be the END of our country as we know it - period. The status quo is bad enough.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    No nads no win.

The only thing more disasterous for Obama than voting "yes" for the bailout is skipping the most important vote since the Iraq war vote in 2002 when he was not in the Senate.

People do not vote for eunuchs.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
The democratric party and the likes of Schumer need to cut the umbilical cord and let wall street and the likes of Goldman Sach stew in their own poo, even thouh AIPAC and Tel Aviv may not approve.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
Agree, Cowboy, and with you too, tbhull.

NO BAILOUT! And if Obama votes for one, he seriously pisses off his base of which I am a member....or I was when Dems still had a base not all centerfied.

But by far, the McPalin supporters in ABQ have made their decision based on abortion.

    Yea Catholicism!
  • ShirleyGoodnessanMercy · 1 year ago
For such a BOLD, BRASH candidate for VP, she sure is a wimp!
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
    ...
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Obama can win back Reagan democrats by saying no bailout and no new taxes because of this no. This is the perfect time for dems to say FUCK NO to more government spending.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm watching Paul Krugman on Keith Olbermann's MSNBC. When Republican idiots say they would love to go drinkin' with Bu$h or Paliln, I always think who would I like to spend time with? Answer: I'd love to have dinner with Paul Krugman and listen to him talk policy. Does that make me a policy wonk / nerd / geek freak? Probably, but I still would. Anyone else find Krugman brilliant? I KNOW I'm not alone.
  • mirth · 1 year ago
I dunno about Krugman, but I'd love to talk "policy" with you over dinner.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Mirth, you are so sweet. I'd love to meet you and have dinner, as well. Maybe one day, all of us will meet at one of those blogger conventions, etc. Maybe after this election, I will finally be able to attend something like that. As my party's county vice chair, and just taking the job of running the Tulsa Office of Obama campaign I know I'm really going to be more busy than usual. This is my favorite season, though! Of course, its like the "Olympics" for those of us who are political junkies.
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
I know exactly what you mean. It is not that he may agree or disagree with me but I would relish the chance to simply talk to someone unencumbered by ideology. Someone who is not afraid to speak the truth and probably not afraid to admit he might be wrong. Debate is very healthy and to have dialogue with a person whose mind is sharp would be a treat. Not enough smart people in America sadly. The average American could care less with Palin talks to the press. they are gearing up for the return of Project Runway or American Idol.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
Tell me. Man, as a policy wonk I'm really disconnected from what is considered entertaining distracting crap they show on tee vee. I do try to tune in for American Idol finals, and other bigger shows but I just don't get how anyone can become so invested in entertainment or even sports for that matter. What I truly don't get is how anyone, who has a brain, does not follow policy and decisions that impact absolutely everything here in America. C-SPAN is where its at as far as what truly affects American's lives. I enjoy watching the different cable news networks to see their particular take on the issues, though. Of course, I can't bring myself to watch Fox News because I can't handle their "Republicans First!" political ideology. MSNBC is more neutral, even though the wingnuts try to game them by saying they are somehow progressive. Until Maxine Waters gets a show on MSNBC, I'm not buying the whole MSNBC and NBC are liberal!
  • lynchie · 1 year ago
Well the fact is it is not entertainment. Americans actually believe they can choose the winner of American Idol. The believe the Reality shows are not skewed, just as they believe America is #1. Most have never been outside the U.S., don't read even the newspaper and certainly don't watch any of the evening shows. Just look at the # viewing either O'Reilly or Olberman in the evening. The news shows take on the issues is through the lens of a writer. The evening news is presented as if Katie or Gibson or Hume actually wrote the news. They are readers so their only view is that of the writers. I knew Peter Jennings, came from the same street in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and stayed in touch after we both moved to the U.S. He was a very modest man but cut his teeth on real in the field reporting. He was in the Middle East during many of the wars there. He met and talked to world leaders. He commented numerous times that reporting the news without experiencing the moment was impossible. He thought Amanpour and the CNN team that was in Baghdad during the first gulf war were the best available.
I guess my point is we are at the bottom of a vast filter set in place to give us one view of an issue. Read the Guardian and the Independent both newspapers from the UK the news is totally different than what we get to see and hear in the U.S. I don't have a solution other than use the tubes to find out more. Americans are not curious, don't have a thirst for the facts and believe the first thing they are told because it requires no work.
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
Exactly. I would much rather learn something from someone than laugh, snort, and spit beer through my nose with a person whose brains resemble dry dog food. I want to be inspired. She's not inspiring, she's a shrewish shrike; he's dopey and evil.
  • vwcat · 1 year ago
Her ratings are falling like a rock. They are hoping to do photo ops with leaders at the UN to shore her up but, really, people are getting wary of a candidate who won't talk to the press or answer questions.
  • An_American_Karol · 1 year ago
Rove has her under lock and key until she has to debate Biden. He has something up his sleeve. I don't know what though. It's curious.
  • tbhull · 1 year ago
Focusing on Palin and all her faults will not be anywhere near as effective as focusing on the senile flaccid old McCain. Rove has Palin continually lying to keep the focus on Palin.
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I hope the UN ambassadors do us a favor and refuse to be seen with her!
  • cowboyneok · 1 year ago
I'm watching MSNBC and there was a clip of McSame with Lieberman behind him. I became aware of something annoying I've seen Lieberman do over and over on camera. Anyone, but me, notice Lieberman bounces slowly up and down on his toes? Either that little worm Lie-berman:

    A. Is trying to appear taller by standing on his tippy toes
    B. This is some kind of neurotic tic of his caused by cognitive dissonance or being highly insecure
    C. All of the above.

I'm leaning more towards "C" - "All of the above."
  • tommytoonz · 1 year ago
This is simply disrespect for the voters, plain and simple.
  • anarchy · 1 year ago
all that we've got here is American made

The problem is not with McCain/Pailn of the republicans, the problem is with the media and the lazy ameican public that lets these asses get away with it. We, the people should demand interviews with the people running for office. How else are we going to know and question them. We are pathetic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • woodroad34 · 1 year ago
I remember in my college days, I wouldn't study for tests until the last minute. Then I'd take my mom's diet pills and stay up all night cramming. This is exactly what Sarah Palin is doing. She knew nothing, knows nothing and is desperately cramming for the role of VP(President?). She wants her visits with foreign dignitaries to be souffle points on her resume: 'I can see Russia from house, so I know foreign policy'; 'I met with foreign leaders for five minutes and have seen into their souls, so I now have experience'. She's desperately padding a weak resume. One more boob (pardon the pun) in the GOP.
